here's a concept: those mice, that plug into the computer (or in most macs cases, the keyboard) you can UN-plug those.

Now all you need is a hand-dandy USB 2-button (or 12-button, nobody cares, knock yourself out) mouse.

Even the old PS/2 Macs supported 2-button mice. Apple just shipped them with one button as per their own philosophy.

the mouse that the computer came with was a 1 button mouse. in other words, apple's base mouse was a 1 button mouse. the thing was clear and essentially the entire mouse was the button. that is gay.

Nowhere in my post did I say he was an idiot for thinking that Apple shipped with a single button mouse. I simply pointed out that he needed to do a little reading to understand that you can use a two button mouse, or use the mighty mouse... but twist it any way you want, I don't really care anymore.

1) he called him a moron tongue.gif
2) no, he's still a moron, we get what he was trying to say.

Your "buddy" (i'm having difficulty believing you have the ability to maintain any sort of social relationship with anything or anyone. even if it were possible, they're friends with you which should speak to their own intelligence as well) is just as dumb as you.

i guess you dont see the irony in apple's shitty state nowadays, hence you dont understand the joke (or just now are getting it).

apple has been one of the biggest opponents of intel/microsoft for what, 20-25 years? and now they have intel based macs that run windows.

apple has 5, maybe 10 years left in the computer business. this use of intel/microsoft is a last ditch effort to save themselves.

Apple was knocked away from Intel by Microsoft... They specifically did not want to be categorized with anything that had to do with them.

And you think Microsoft will be around? Doubtful.

maybe you haven't noticed, apple's fucking raking it in. Whether you like them or not, they're making some serious cash. And what's wrong with selling macs that run windows with intel processors? if anything, they're conforming to what has been established as a more standard, more reliable, more programmable architecture. They're allowing people to use their machines for windows as well. It's not like you can get a mac without paying for OSX already on it. What do they care if you run windows off of it? you've already bought it and you've already paid for the OS as well. If anything, this will attract MORE customers. I already stated that my next machine will be an apple, even if I don't use OSX on it. They still get their money, and microsoft still gets theirs (assuming i'm using a legit copy of windows).

Funny thing, people were predicting that apple had 5 years left back in 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01... when did the ipod come out?

funny, someone who didn't even realize that apple made a two-button mouse is predicting the course of their business over the next 5-10 years. That's got some credibility to it.

really? you buy products based solely upon how well they sell?

I assume you have an ipod then, and I assume you drive a honda civic or a toyota camry. You obviously own a nintendo DS and you smoke marlboro or camel cigarettes.

edit: i almost forgot, you only drink coke, never pepsi or dr. pepper, you only eat at mcdonalds, nowhere else, and all your gas comes from exxon/mobil, not any of the other refineries. The only potato chips you eat are Lays.

well, your criteron certainly doesn't seem to match up then does it? Thank you for proving that once again, your logic fails.

I mean, those are the best selling cars, cigarettes, mp3 players, soft drinks, etc. Why aren't you buying them? They're very successful!

funny, that's not what you said here.

you seemed to be basing their (according to you, who is once again mistaken) "downfall" on the fact that "aren't successful" (once again, wrongo.). Nevermind the fact that personal choice plays a large part in deciding what platform you want, and as evidenced in the IE vs Firefox thread, you have your mouth firmly planted around microsoft's giant throbbing cock, so yeah, one could see where you might shy away from Macs, even though they can now do literally everything a PC can (in the same operating system, no less)

Yes. And they're also the same ones who said that Macs suck because they don't have support for as much software.

Yes. And they're also the same ones who said that Macs suck because they don't have support for as much software.

And oddly enough they now support double the software wink.gif

well, they officially have support more than just pc's do now.

pc software + mac software > pc software.

essentially, it's like buying 2 computers for the price of one and a half (macs are expensive lol)

BSOD on an iMac

You can also crash it by trying to select the USB device that is the iSight in Windows.

I still don't see how this is so revolutionary... the apple computer now has PC innards, and their OS now runs on the x86 architecture. big freakin deal.

yeah nevermind it gives apple a huge step up in attracting customers, nevermind that the only reason not to buy a mac now is price, or anything logical about that.

you got ownd a week ago, don't start this shit up again or i'm locking the damn topic.

ok... so they're doing great at marketing. it doesn't answer my question.

my question was: how is an x86 PC with an apple badge so revolutionary?

at least hartmann responds with shit that makes sense. it's ok i'm sure instead of responding to the question you'll just find some pwned graphic or something to paste.

I'll do something better than buy a mac that dual boots, I'll just install OSX on another drive I have on here. Now I don't have to buy an expensive mac that has no reason to be expensive anymore becuase it runs an intel chip, and I can get an operating system that looks almost as good as enlightenment.

yeah, except for the part where OSXx86 is much much MUCH more buggy when not running on the actual mac hardware (trust me, I have a laptop running it right now, and look at the installation wikis, it's a PAIN IN THE ASS to get to install correctly most of the time), not to mention it runs slower on non-mac hardware. Furthermore, OSX 10.5 will be including a major security update to essentially prevent it from running on non-macs (prolly using that intel drm codey thingie that i totally am spacing on at the moment). Will that be cracked? probably eventually, but how much of the OS will you have to gut to use it? 10.4.3/10.4.4 will probably be the last versions of OSX that you can run on non-mac hardware.

No matter what you do ubuntu is the gayest distro out there. Well I guess it's cool if you don't want to do anything and want to have no idea what your computer is doing most of the time.
