Well, I joined a gym and started a workout program. Thus, I now ache in muscles that I didn't even know I had.
Now, here's the thing. The trainer didn't tell me how much cardio I should be doing, but rather showed me how to do the exercises (not like they're that hard). He said to find out exactly how much I should be doing, I'd have to spend $120 on a nutritionist. As 1) I don't have that and 2) that sounds like a lot to be spending anyway, I decided against it. Would anyone be able to give me at least a roundabout estimate of how much cardio I should be doing? -------------------- Holy shit, pebkac, you're awesome! I think its like 30 minutes, 3-5 times a week. Something like that. You need to get to your target heart rate and maintaint that rate for a period of time.
Target Heart Rate Calculator Maintain that target heart rate for 20 minutes and you will be golden. |

yeah I was just gonna say your heart rate will tell you all of that, there are charts that work for pretty well everyone.... then the more endurance you build up the more you'll burn, etc.
The main thing you dont wanna do if you're going from being almost totally lethargic (like me) to a workout plan is too much, because you will burn yourself out and then you don't do anything. The best thing is consistent light workouts and gradually build up your intensity. -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

run what you are comfortable with
that goes for pace and distance dont run every day to begin with. its especially important with running not to jump right into the thick of things i dont know your fitness level but if the thought of running 1 mile is dauting run whatever at the pace that is cool, walk dont stop till you are ready to go again till you reach that mile. from that point on work on running the entire mile without stopping. find the medium. push yourself but dont exert yourself. you aint training for a marathon - hopefully. if you are come pace with me what gym? (thats all if the cardio you are doing is running. i dont do all that gay eliptical shit) and stretch goddamnit! -------------------- Little monkeys making money

nice, keep it up.
i need to find a better way to ride my bike home from campus. (from 55th & utica) i usually ride to flint and then take it all the way to the school. it seems like it's slightly downhill, and with the wind at my back, it only takes like 20 miuntes casually. going back sucks, though, because it's slightly uphill. i think i'm screwed because any route is probably going to be uphill on the way back. maybe i'm imagining the slope and it was just the wind? does lubbock have a gradual slope? |
