I like how much this is blown out of proportion...

It's not like he outreaches his hand and the other world leaders don't shake it.

There are a few reasons I can think of as to why Bush didn't shake their hands.

I'm sick of people applauding this guy. I mean, I think what he did was totally out of line. Should he go to jail? Eh, I don't think so, but he shouldn't be allowed in the same room as Bush again. Some girl I'm friends with on myspace put up a status message that said something like "I think what the Iraqi journalist did was very brave, and it pails in comparison to what Bush has done to the Iraqi people." Ummm... nothing satisfies those people over there. They complain under Saddam Hussein, who killed thousands of people, and now they are complaining about the US. I'm trying to understand the logic.

You hate Bush for a war that in your mind is all on him, yet many of our congressmen voted for it. Did we vote them out to punish them? Nope. We left them in office. You need someone to be angry at and that's fine. Me, I like to place blame where blame is due. I don't think Bush made the best decisions, but I think a lot of our politicians made the same decisions (and in some cases their decisions had a bigger impact).

I'm not happy seeing people getting shoes thrown at them and I don't understand how someone who is "so for the 'right' thing" could find it to be a good thing. I guess you're for the right thing as long as it fits your agenda?

I guess as long as we keep the number of people killed, displaced, kids orphaned, and arrested for "suspicious charges" on the DL it's okay. They shouldn't be complaining anyway, it's all in God's plans (ours not theirs).

All the smuggle aside, I don't understand why people see this as some sort of the "good" kicked out of the "evil" so these people can have their "freedom". The US in not in the business of saving the world, if we were then there's about a dozen places we could "liberate". It is what it is, a political strategy that . The reason why the US is not too worried about N. Korea is probably because we have eight nations keeping tabs on it, four of which have a pretty strong incentive to keep them nuclear-free and they happen to be next door neighbors. And frankly, is anyone really worried about Africa going ape-shit on the world? What do they have that we really really want? Not a whole lot. I'm not saying that the US has some evil plan of invade and conquer, but I think the gov't have some idea of the countries that have a government system that we help established is more likely to be on our side and to do our bidding than whoever else was in charge. What I believe is that it's not some God's holy plan we got going on here, just like Obama is not the God's holy angel who's been sent to earth to save his people with his Godly magic.

And by the way, I doubt the US "rid the nation of terrorists and murderers", we haven't even done that in our own country.

Maybe you are unaware of how much oil africa has, not to mention the largest Uranium mine in the world. And let's not forget diamonds. But that's more luxury than resource worth killing people for.
