Mega Dogmeat: Yankee Doodle Dandee whilst exploring a blown-away elementary school
Mega Dogmeat: SCHWEEEEEEEET
Mega Dogmeat: I've only gotten to kill a few people so far, but I already like the combat system
Mega Dogmeat: it's real-time, not turn based, but it has it's own version of bullet time so to speak
thespectatrix: is it very different?
thespectatrix: oh ok
Mega Dogmeat: There is the straight-up oblivion style combat mode, but you click RB and you can go into "targeting" mode which is sort of like a psuedo-turn-based thing based on your action points
thespectatrix: oh ok
Mega Dogmeat: so in ther words, you can just rambunctiosly beat or shoot people to death, or based on how many action points you have, you can time critical shots at various points in combat
Mega Dogmeat: it's pretty good
thespectatrix: cool
Mega Dogmeat: and it's got gore
Mega Dogmeat: like, pinpointing what limbs to blow off people is really neat, I've only blown several limbs off people so far, but it was quite satisfying ...
thespectatrix: well you can do that in the first Fallouts too
Mega Dogmeat: and in the psuedo-bullet time mode, it shows it quite graphically :-D
Mega Dogmeat: yeah I know but the death scenes are much more .... visceral ..in this game :-)
thespectatrix: lol
thespectatrix: did you ever try the "bloody mess" trait?
Mega Dogmeat: in the old fallout? yeah
Mega Dogmeat: the first perk I picked on this game was the "Lady Killer" perk ... you automatically get +10% damage when attacking female opponents and when not in combat with them ..."special" dialogue boxes show up
Mega Dogmeat: hhahahahahahahahaha wonderful :-D
Mega Dogmeat: I've only met one whore so far and I couldn't convince her to fuck me, so I'll probably just kill her
Mega Dogmeat: :-D
Mega Dogmeat: so far it's a fine game :-D
thespectatrix: lol
thespectatrix: there's no Mac version!!!!!!!!!! :'(
Mega Dogmeat: I mean seriously, I just barlet left the vault and I've already blown limbs off people, smashed their faces in with baseball bats, and met a junkie whore that I can kill
Mega Dogmeat: I have a feeling this game is gonna be EPIC.

God dammit. I paid some whore in megaton to fuck me and the dumb bitch went and laid on the bed and didn't fuck me.

WTF? There has to be SOME type of fucking here? Anyone else figured out how to fuck the whores yet? I decided to spare the first one I met for now, mainly because I want to figure out how to fuck them before I kill them.

Has anyone else reached Rivet City yet?

I can't get anywhere NEAR the Jefferson Memorial or the bow-section of that boat without my 360 totally locking up.

It appears I've found a glitch in the game. Anyone else seen this yet?

So i decided to kill the gun dealer (and his body guard) outside of megaton... will this have far reaching consequences (like the dealer is at every city and stupid to lose his stuff)? I got a nice shotty and assault rifle (and missle launcher) out of the deal...

I always did this when playing the first and 2nd fallout (getting advanced weaponry early), but usally was able to pickpocket it with simple save and restart method... can't really do that in this one.

What weapons dealer, the caravan guy? Or someone else entirley?

The minigun hence far is completley worthless, even with a %100 big gun skill. The missile launcher on the other hand has come in quite handy.

Since my 360 keeps locking up doing the main game quest, I'm basically just going around the wastes exploring and doing all the side quests I can until Bethesda comes out with a patch to download sad.gif

I decided to spare MegaTon and now actually own a house there.

I've currently gone through and completley eradicated every Talon merc from their hideout/bunker and killed their commander and stolen his gear, enslaved a whore just for the hell of it, set a bunch of other slaves free, helped some ghouls move into an apartment building, etc ... I'm playing a good-karma character this time around, I haven't really killed too many people I shouldn't have.

I killed Burke for the hell of it early on in the game but I knew I wasn't gonna blow up megaton. the next char I play will be an evil one.

I really messed my tag skills up too, it doesn't make any sense at all to make lockpick, small guns, and big guns your tag skill ...

I have been playing on the "hard" difficulty ... I did the 'swift learner' perk for my first 3 levels or so, so my character is level 12 right now ..

I dunno fun game but I'm getting pretty bored just doing side quests.

They need to come out with a fix for this SOON.

I was roaming the wasteland doing whatever side quest and eradicating whatever evil (sort of) I could find today, and I happened upon "Casey's Garage" ...

Suffice to say, this was actually the entrace to another Vault (Vault 112) ...

Which, as it turns out, is the next part of the "Scientific Purities" or whatever the main quest up until this point was called ...

IE, I just completley bypassed having to go to the Jefferson Memorial to where apparently Project Purity was located as I found this by chance.

Needless to say, I found dad by way of killing a lot of people, and went back to Rivet City with him.

However, now him and Dr. Li want to go back to the Jefferson Memorial, and the fucking game STILL locks up.

shit. this is fucking pissing me off.

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

Have you had any luck getting to the Jefferson Memorial in the main quest yet?

I can't see where Bethesda has released a patch ... I keep doing side quest after side quest after side quest ...

I guess there is a cap on the maximum level you can acheive, at level 20.

I'm probably going to hit 20 before I can even finish the main quest.

I'll try like monday and get back to you on it (toward rivet city??)

Any time I get near the bow of the boat (rivet city) or try to get into the Jefferson Memorial the game locks up hard.

I have tried swimming to the memorial, etc, it still locks up. You are apparently supposed to be able to walk to the memorial right down the path from rivet city ... I've ever killed off two super mutants there, but when I approach, it freezes.

On a different note, apparently Harold made his way into Fallout III biggrin.gif

I knew that damned tree looked awfully familiar when I first saw it hahahahaha ....

Hmm, well i'll have to go to the bow of rivet city, and all the way into the jefferson memorial (i've walked pretty much into it, but i was looking for washingtion memorial, not jefferson, so i turned back instead of going all the way up to it)...

and the harold mission kinda sucks... not oblivions place in my opinion.

Besides the freezing. I am thinking of buying the Xbox version or the PC version. What are your guys pro/cons about the game for it.

I have a P4 3ghz with 1.5 GB ram and a pretty good ATI video card. What do you have Seth?

I have 360 version, but im gonna get the PC version because of the future playability. The 360 will be dead in a couple years (on to new system), but i still play fallout 1 & 2 on PC. Just for being able to play it well into future i want it on PC...

I have a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz (overclocked to 3.5), 2gb of overclockable ram, and 8800gt nvidia card.

If you like achievements and xbox support, get 360. I like PC controls better than 360 personally too.

I used to be a die-hard PC gamer, but I guess honestly my decision to buy a 360 was more a financial one than so much a "love" of consoles. While shooters on consoles have improved greatly with the current generation, they are still nowhere near as precise as they are on the PC.

I just got kinda tired of shelling out $500-1000 every year or two to upgrade my PC to play the latest games at a respectable frame rate ... that, combined with the fact that there just aren't as many good games being developed for PC these days as there were 10 years ago ... heh smile.gif

Minimum System Requirements: Windows XP/Vista 1GB System RAM (XP) / 2GB System RAM (Vista)
2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
Direct X 9.0c compliant videocard with 256MB RAM (NVIDIA 6800 or better / ATI X850 or better)

Recommended System Requirements: Intel Core 2 Duo processor 2 GB System RAM
Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI 3800 series)
Supported Video Card Chipsets:
ATI HD 4800 series
ATI HD 4600 series
ATI HD 3800 series
ATI HD 3600 series
ATI HD 3400 series
ATI HD 2900 series
ATI HD 2600 series
ATI HD 2400 series
ATI X1900 series
ATI X1800 series
ATI X1600 series
ATI X1300 series
ATI X850 series

So yes, you can, not at max settings, but you could play it. 360 will most likely give you better performance.

Don't know how you feel about torrenting games, but you could always torrent it, and try it out to see if it'll run worth a damn.

I think I am about ready to just give up on this game.

I am fucking pissed. I'd been waiting for this game for YEARS.

I can't even play through the main quest because it locks up, and apparently, there is a cap on the maximum level you can acheive at level 20. I'm at about 19.75 right now.

Also, i guess you can't continue playing the game after you beat the main quest.

I would have to say that overall I am pretty damned dissappointed in Bethesda about this game.

It sure had a lot of potential to be really badass, and with a lot of things I think they did an exceptional job, but there is no excuse for releasing a game that is so buggy you cant even finish it.

You may have a screwed up disc... maybe consider replacing it (mine doesn't seem to freeze at jefferson).

The originals ended once the main story ended

Caps suck, but i think they will eventually unlock the levels when they release more content

and i told everyone on here not to get their hopes up on Fallout-Oblivion. It's fun, but if you expected Fallout 1 or 2 quality you were aiming WAY to high... especially since a great game (for any system) hasn't been released since the 90's. Hell, just look at the "games of the year" from recent memory and none of them live up to they hype (biosuck pissed me off soooo much)

I don't think that I even have the original receipt.

the CD appears to be in perfect shape.

I mean this was happening to me no sooner than the second day I played the game, and apparently I'm not the only one that is having these problems ...

Bethesda fucked it all up.

Honestly if it wasn't for this thing locking up on me, I'd be pretty happy with this game.

I knew there was no way in hell it was going to be as brutal or sadistic as the original FO games were, but it's pretty damned violent and gory at leas t...

I'd really like this game were it not locking up on me right now sad.gif

walmart allows for exchanges (no reciept required). It may be that the actual disc has problems (like a burning error to the disc)

What 360 do you have? Basic, elite, midrange? Maybe its the older model 360's with problems (my 2nd release 360, which fixed some of the original 360 bugs, may be the reason im not having problems)...

oh, and i was discussing with a friend... this game is good mainly because it gives me good feelings of the original. Like the minefield "ghost-town" mission reminded me of the ghost town from the originals (the underground people who had the corn field), but this game just had a mine-field with a sniper named arkansas shooting at you. No story to explain it or ANYTHING.

Fallout had a story for EVERYTHING... thats why this just isn't a fallout game. It does have the right post-apocalptic feeling, but the humor is HORRIBLE compared, gore is good, but that wasn't the good part of the originals, more just a "perk" (literally).

What I've noticed is that for the story to play out having a high speech helps ... I've gone back and talked to some of the same characters I talked to early in the game but now that my speech is maxed out they give me more info and quests.

Arkansas is an escaped slave apparently.

I've also found a shitload of voice diaries in the various vaults and at random places throughout the game.

Would have been nice to have a STORY revolving around Arkansas, hell they could've left stuff in the houses he had the key to.

And it wouldn't have been hard to have a quest within a quest ... maybe make arkansas a free man so he can leave, kill him, or re-slave him to his owner.

I went and bought the 360 version. Its a good game, but not as good as the originals. I don't like how you can't pickpocket and do what you could in the old game.

You can pickpocket... click one of the analog sticks and you'll duck (or "sneak")... then when you press A on someone you pick pocket. But you can't pick pocket everything like in the old one.

And i don't get what the reason why is. The originals had a built in punishment for killing children (no one would deal with you... basically making you a leper) after killing 2 kids

there is still no work on a fix for this game from Bethesda.

I've been all over their forum and all kinds of people are having trouble with this game locking up on them.

what part are you stuck on, dogmeat?

I accidentally skipped over visiting Galaxy Radio by talking to Dr. Lei in Rivet City.

Don't think you can do this for the Jefferson Memorial part, though.

No, you can't, I haven't even been to Galaxy Radio yet ... and I'm already a level 20.

It all started when I was trying to go find Pinkerton in the bow of Rivet City. It kept freezing up on me, so I decided to try something else. Went on with the main quest, after Dr. Li tells you to go find dad at the Jefferson Memorial. It froze up on me there too. What is rediculous is, I can get close enough to the memorial I can pick the super mutants off with my sniper rifle, but then when I move past a certain point, it just hard-locks my entire 360.

I was like "well maybe they'll release a patch for this"

So I started exploring the wastes. There is really quite a bit to explore here, honestly. It's at least as big of game world as Oblivion is, not counting the expansions.

Anyways, I did all kinds of side quests, and eventually hit the level cap of 20 ... I can no no longer get higher in leves, so I basically have nothing left to do with this character but complete the main quest.

I've been all over Bethesda's FO3 forums and I am most definatey NOT the only one having this problem. As of now there has been no official word from Bethesda on a fix for all this, which REALLY fucking pisses me off.

Anyways, eventually I "bypassed" having to go to the Jefferson Memorial for the first part of the main quest, because I accidentally found Vault 112, which is where dad was hiding. But, as soon as you complete that part of the quest you have to go right back to the Jefferson Memorial. It's a graphical glitch that is locking the 360 up. As soon as it tries to load some of the "visible" parts of the JM, it locks up cold, like you can see it "half load" some of the scaffolding and piping then it just freezes.

I guess I might start a new character, but start a totally evil character ... On my main, the karma rank I have is "The Last Best Hope for Humanity" ... haha.

fuck bethesda.

whoa. cool. i should do that on my new character. the first perk I picked was the "lady killer" perk biggrin.gif

i think my main character is powerful enough right now I might just go on a killing spree with him and just kill EVERYONE in the game for the hell of it.

I went straight to the Jefferson Memorial from Megaton, and guess what? Low and behold, no graphical glitch.

WTF?

So now I gotta go back and play the game ALL OVER AGAIN now sad.gif

Once you get a few levels and perks under your belt they aren't so bad.

My main char absolutley shreds them now with big or small guns, either one.

While you're leveling up try using the missle launcher aimed squarley at their legs ... Slows em down then you can just plink em to death with whatever gun you want while you dance around and laugh at them smile.gif

at least if there is only one.

You get two or three of them on you it's a good idea to either have a lotta missiles on you or be real handy with the minigun.

Speaking of super mutants ... is there a quest involving the super mutant behemoth at that one raider camp?

I'm playing Fallout 2 and I earned the Porn Star title. wink.gif Buffout FTW.

Eh ... I think there might be this one bitch in Tenpenny tower you can get to fuck you, then you can sell her into slavery.

You can sell kids into slavery in this game, which I don't think you could do in FO2 ...

Might be some dudes you can get to fuck you and then sell them into slavery.

I'm playing a chick character right now and trying to make her as evil of a bitch as I can, I'll let you know.

Nah. Just a single dose of buffout to up my endurance for the porn tryout, then I was done. Buffout isn't as addictive as psycho or jet.

Haha, nah, I just like earning the title. Don't really need the money, though, seeing as how I've got an arsenal fit for an army in the truck of the Highwayman. I'm still working on becoming a Prizefighter.

I've gotten through the first two boxing fights.

Fallout 1 is a lot shorter than 2, so it shouldn't take long to play & beat.

I didn't do alot of the side quest in FO 2 and beat it fairly quickly. In FO3 I am doing everything. 22 Hours into the game and still haven't got to level 10. (But picked clean several sites)

i think ive probably got about 100 hours into FO3 right now between my two chars.

it is frustrating as FUCK not being able to do the main quests with my combat badass...

This little bitch I am playing I gave her a good small guns skill, then speech, sneak, and lockpick ... she's a whoreslut of epic proportions, but weak as fuck in combat sad.gif

it's a crime she's wearing enclave power armor right now and was only a level 12 when she got it sad.gif

beat the game with my evil bitch character ....

I'm kind of upset at the ending as well. Had you the option to keep playing after chickening out of activating the purifier, it would have been nice to go back out into the wasteland and admire the carnage you have caused by mixing the modded FEV virus ....

You could have then gone around killing absolutley _EVERYONE_ that was left.

I guess my sentiments about there being a lack of story behind a lot of things in this game are the same as chickens overall.

The game world here was actually quite huge, however, the main quest didn't even take you into 1/4 of it.

I mean I found all kinds of cool shit from the Vault-Tec headquarters, to the Radar Array, etc ... that had absolutley nothing to do with the main story line. Even if this stuff didn't have anything to do with the main story line, it could have had SOMETHING to do with the Fallout universe that at least after completing the main quest you could have gone back and done.

I mean for how much stuff that was acutally in the game world, the portion of it you actually had anything to do with was really quite small ... I thought the level 20 cap was kinda shitty too.

That combined with the buggyness of this game ... I don't know. I mean I had a level 20 good karma character built upa nd I couldn't even complete the main quest with him due to bugs, but then for some reason I started up an evil character and could complete the quest with her? And I wasn't the only one having this problem for sure...

I guess overall there was a lack of the "Fallout sense of humor" in this game that would have in my mind TRULY made this a "real" fallout game. It was like it had almost all the other important elements of the original two, with the exception that there wasn't near as much sex as there should have been and the lack of the "babykiller" perk, but .... There was no humor at all in this game. What I mean is, there was no .... Fallout-style .... Timmy fell in the well, and when you go into the well ... "I'm taking it back! I'm taking it all back!" ... if you catch my drift.

I dunno, for how long this game was supposedly in development I guess overall I'm a little dissappointed with it. I mean obviously Bethesda put a lot of effort into designing the game world, and they did one hell of a good job with that ... but I think the storyline was completley lacking as well as some of the more subtle elements that truly make Fallout Fallout .... I dunno, maybe they'll release an expansion pack assuming you didn't sacrifice yourself and fix some of the things and make it fun to play still.

So I finally got around to picking this game up. I got out of the vault thing and made my way to Megaton where I ran in to some nigger cop who was giving me lip. So naturally I talked back to him and threatened to kill him....and he killed me real quick. I tried equipping a variety of weapons and replaying the scenario and the nigger killed me every time. Then I wisened up and started sweet talking his coon ass until he stopped talking and turned away from me. That did the trick. Busted several caps in his monkey ass until his head blew up. Dumb jigaboo.

But then the rest of the townspeople got mad and came and slaughtered me.

Still learning the ropes of this game

ok, so they finally released the god damned patch for this game last week that fixed the jefferson memorial glitch.

I finally beat it with my main.

What I am still monumentally pissed off about though, is how short this game was. The game world was MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger and you didn't even get to scratch the fucking surface of it.

The level cap is absolute %100 mindless bullshit.

I am still fucking pissed .... Bethesda fucking slacked off, bigtime. It's like they built a foundation from which a totally sick Fallout game could have been created but then they just stopped not long after that was done.

I think virtually every single one I could, and that is what is frustrating me so much about this game.

There was SOOOOOOOOO much more game in the game world, and they didn't utilize ANY of it.

No quests exploring the capital or the white house? I mean christ you didn't even delve into barley %30 of the game world in the main quest AND all the side quests ....

They really fucked this game up, I am sorry, but it's almost like they stopped making the damned game %25 of the way into it because mangaement wanted to push it out ....
