Go out and buy it, fuckers

I wanted to get it yesterday, but the stupid PX didn't have it. And what the hell is up with a Thursday release? Tuesday we made the trip all the way out to the only Best Buy within like 75 miles only to find out that it was a Thursday release. GAY. Oh well, we got the new Slipknot instead (which I wasn't too impressed with when first listening to it) and Season 3 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I don't know when we will make it over to a Walmart or to Savannah to get it.

Best Buy said it would be released on Thursday, but it makes sense now why the PX didn't have it. Either way, it's still stupid

Best Buy is stupid. They told me the same thing and I wasted a trip there yesterday.

I just downloaded it. So far i've listened to the first two or three songs.

It sounds exactly like every other metal band out there that was influenced by Metallica and tried to sound like Metallica, except this actually IS Metallica and they are trying to sound like themselves?
... But they're not accomplishing it very well because they just sound like every other band out there that copied them?

This album is roughly the equivelent of Load [of sh!t] and Re-Load [of shIt] ... It doesn't make me think of Kill Em All, Puppets, or even And Justice For All.

It makes me think they figured if they hyped the sh!t out of this album and told people "No really this will really actually be a Metallica album this time" they'd get people to buy it.

This album is doing absolutley nothing for me. It's not heavy, it's not fast, it's not even that melodic. It's a "Metallica" album I guess.

Personally I wish I had my $10 back.

They hyped this for the last year as a "return to their roots" and all it does is sound like the Offspring trying to write a Metallica tribute album only with unreleased songs.

The songs are not heavy, they are not fast, they are not melodic. They sound like they put the whole album together with Pro Tools instead of actually writing and recording an album.

It sounds so cookie-cutter I cannot believe I was dumb enough to think it might have been anything different.

I'm sure this will please the "rock radio" crowd who will eat up any generic type of rock music they can find ... hey, at least to their credit, it's not nigger music, but still .... it's time for Metallica to throw in the towel. They haven't done SHIT in 15 years. Stop trying to cash in on the 80's.

Which is why the black album was so successful.

However, everything they've done since has sucked so bad it hasn't even been funny.

When Load came out I could have sworn I was listenin to a fucking Motley Crue album instead of a Metallica album.

I think it's decent although I think it's lacking something... creativity. See, they experimented with their last album and failed MISERABLY. They came to the realization that their success lied in their sound, so they returned to their "roots," but in doing so they didn't do anything to spice it up. It's Metallica, and if you like that sound of music then you will dig it okay. Only thing is, it's not the epic return they were hoping for. I give it a B-. I'll listen to it, but years down the road, you will never hear the songs played on the radio like their past hits. This album will fall by the wayside.

This reminds me of a Robert Plant quote saying something along the lines of "Led Zeppelin now feels more like a cover band because we cover all our own stuff."

Funny thing is his favorite band changed their thrash sound more than metallica did. Slayers album with Bloodline sounds nothing like Reign In Blood and their other 80's shit

Oh but it did ... oh but did it ever ...

In fact, I think GHA was even meaner than RIB in a lot of ways smile.gif

That album was responsible for the mass Slayer Revival you saw from 2001 to about 2006.

What's funny to me about this new Metallica album is that the album cover even LOOKS like a gigantic vagina ... coincidence? biggrin.gif

We get it dogmeat, you're cool. You're OLD SCHOOL. If it aint old, you don't like it. If it's new, it sucks. Nobody makes good music anymore, nobody makes good games anymore, we gotcha. You're 20something and the best years are far behind. All that's left is talk of the days of old and reminding the young folk how cool it was back when you found things cool. Damn you are one COOL MOFO!

I listen to a lot more 'new' metal than I do old metal these days honestly, I'm pretty much just saying that Metallica blows ass smile.gif

Maybe if they'd put this album out in oh, um, say 1994 it might have been relevent? heh smile.gif
