So the messing around with Linux got me to pull out the extra monitors and hook em all up, and I rearranged everything into a pretty sweet total nerd setup. The awesome part is that Synergy app I pasted in another thread, links all three comps (two dual boot linux/win, one windows-only), so I can actually mouse across all four screens/three computers and the keyboard/mouse becomes active for that PC. Very slick app, and supposedly works for macs too, I'd highly recommend it. I included the home theater gear for my buds on another forum but figured I'd paste em here too. Onto the nerd setup:

1. 17" LCD 1280x1024, hooked up to #7
2. 20" LCD 1600x1200, hooked up to #5
3. 24" LCD 1920x1200, hooked up to #6
4. 20" LCD 1600x1200, hooked up to #6
5. WinXP/Ubuntu PC: In-Win mini-itx case, Intel D945GCLF, Intel Atom 230 CPU, 2GB RAM, 150GB WD Raptor, built-in Intel gfx
6. WinXP PC: Thermaltake Armor case, Intel D975XBX, Intel Pentium D925 3GHz, 4GB RAM, 300GB WD Raptor, ATI Radeon HD3870
7. WinXP/CentOS PC: Coolermaster Elite case, Asus P4P800, Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz, 3GB RAM, 250GB WD, 4x1TB WD -> 2TB RAID 10
8. Western Digital 1TB networked backup drive
9. Denon 2307CI Receiver
10. AT&T U-verse HDDVR
11. Panasonic BD30K Blu-ray player
12. Toshiba HD-XA2 HD-DVD player
13. Belkin PF40 power center
14. Behringer EP2500 amplifier
15. Emotiva XPA-5 amplifier
16. DIY built speakers. 5 total (2 more to come later), all hooked up to #15
17. Toby "Ranger" bandpass sub, hooked up to #14
18. Samsung HLS6187W 61" DLP

bitch mad.gif

though I have to admit it's had its advantages:
1. all I pay is the elec & cable bill (though houston summer elec bill has been like $450 at one point)
2. I'm buying up all my toys before I buy a house
3. I'm paying off stuff I might not have otherwise
4. I have all the time in the world to buy the house I want, so not pressured to buy one at the end of a lease like I was last time.
5. I do actually own a house and a vehicle (which most closing-on-30-punks-who-live-w/their-parents can't say)
6. my mom does the laundry, dishes, etc because "she loves having her son home" thumsbup.gif

I've got a few more toys to get, about 2k left of stuff to pay off, and I have to build up a 3-4k emergency fund, because if my tenants in Lubbock move out or can't pay up for a few months, I need to be able to afford two mortgages at the same time. I'm fairly proud of myself as I've paid off about $7k worth of junk in the past eight months or so.

and jon she probably knows because I've mentioned it on here a few times.

So due to those assholes at newegg putting the 1TB WD drives on sale for $139, they held me at gunpoint and forced me to buy 3 more of em and a 4 port SATA RAID card mad.gif

So #7 in the OP is about to become super duper 2TB RAID10 storage monster argh argh argh

3 comps, the main one uses 2. though one of the comps is just testing some stuff out so it's not on all the time.

winky.gif

--------------------
A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?
