How can you hate walmart, when you can go over there, and get:

1. Off! Insect Repellent
2. Big bag of mesquite wood chips
3. Terminator 2 on blu-ray for $13.95
4. Bananas
5. 6 qts of Pennzoil & AC Delco PF46 oil filter
6. Molasses

Mainly due to the families that drag along mom, dad, grandma, uncle jose, and their six rambunctious children... all to get batteries and a bag of doritos. I do not like tripping over a gaggle of children while shopping... anywhere.

Walmarts also seem to attract idiot drivers that drive the wrong way down one-way lanes in the parking lot and others who sit for five minutes waiting for someone to finish loading their car and pull out of a space (blocking traffic in the process) just because it's 10 feet closer to the door than the next spot down.

we are cursed with the one on 4th and Q that SUCKS BALLS

seriously...over 30 checkout lanes.....i have NEVER seen more than four open, and as soon as it gets dark out, they only have the express lane and one other lane open....

it wouldnt be so bad if they had self checkout (which normally i am against, but in this case will make an exception)

yeah it seems pretty location dependent... the one here where I live is really nice, staffed well, stocked well, etc. The one near where i currently work over off 290 is GHETTO ASS.

True. There was a new one over on 620 & 2222 that I really liked. The greeters actually greeted people! But most of them suck ass.

I have _NEVER_ been at a WalMart with more than 4 checkout lanes open at one time.

This is a deliberate sales tactic by Walmart however .... they figure the longer they can keep you in the store, the more you will buy, so they deliberatley understaff the checkout lanes.

uh ok... it's either a "deliberate sales tactic" or it's an idiot manager who doesn't know how to staff properly...

Yeah but it's that way at every Walmart in every state I've ever been in ... Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Texas, New Mexico, wherever ...

This is true

Ever wonder why every goddamn Home Depot has the entrance and exit at opposite ends of the store, therefore making it impossible to park anywhere where you don't have walk at least a quarter mile to get to and from the store? It isn't because Home Depot cares about your health and wants you to get your daily exercise routine in. It's a marketing ploy. The longer you walk around a store, the more likely you are to make an impulse purchase.

Same reason most chain stores are set up differently design wise. Common sense tells you it would make the most sense designing every super Walmart the exact same...IE, the food aisle on the right, the clothes on the middle, and the electronics/toys/automotive/hygiene on the left. Business sense tells you that it's a better idea to mix them up from store to store, so people will spend more time finding the things they need, therefore passing (and subsequently purchasing) things they want

So the correlation is either that walmart is purposely doing that as a strategy because they think you'll get so pissed off about waiting in line that you'll leave the line to go buy more things??!? blink.gif

or the correlation is that walmart managers tend to be idiots who don't know how to staff their stores.

what were those latin words for "simplest explanation must be correct"? wink.gif

haha yeah that does annoy me. in lubbock i'd go to the quaker one sometimes, the 4th & frankford one other times... and lots of times i'd forget which one i was in and go to the wrong side.
