I've got a big time interview tomorrow that I'm nervous about. I went to the career services center here at tech and found it really helpful but I want to get some more practice and get a better idea of what to expect.

So what questions have you all been presented with in interviews?

"What do you consider your 3 best qualities?"

most of my interviews have been behavioral based where they ask you a question like "tell me about a time when _________ and how did you _________"

the only job interview I've ever done bad in was when I interviewed for Chevron, and they had this gay ass "S T A R" format you were supposed to answer their questions in, which meant "Situation, blah blah blah, Response"

It's just like ... ask me a fucking question, I'll give you a fucking answer, if you like enough of them hire me, if not oh well.

It was gay.

What type of company are you interviewing with? If it's a regular company they'll ask you regular questions. If you're interviewing for Google, you're going to have to explain how to mathematically solve a Rubix cube verbally.

had a couple group interviews where they did the 'think of two truths and a lie' then share and the rest of the people guess.

then we made friendship bracelets.

yeah government takes forever it seems. i have a government contracter i've been talking to and they supposedly need to do a 10 year background check... seems like it's taking forever.

My favorite (read: least favorite) question is this series:

Where do you see yourself in two years?
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Where do you see yourself in ten years?

This is the type of crap they should let you study beforehand. That's a tough question to answer, especially when they keep asking it again on a longer time frame! You don't want to say still in the same position, because then you seem unmotivated and dead-ended, but heaven forbid you say in a promoted position, because then you're cocky! And if you admit you might not be around in ten years, then why the hell would they ever want to invest their time in you if you already know you'll be leaving? Can anyone tell me what an appropriate response to these types of questions is?

now i cant really remember what they asked me. first off was "tell me about yourself" which is actually pretty hard to do while trying to keep it as focused and job related as you can! another tough one was "what aspects of the job do you see yourself enjoying and what do you see yourself not enjoying".

what they get you on is asking a question thats a string of smaller questions! they asked me an overall question that was made up of several other ones and by the time i was into answering i forgot what my point was. ALL the questions were like that. kind of what i wasnt prepared for.

A job interview is like any other conersation. Turn it around and make the interview about the interviewer.

Those questions are bogus, talk about the company, talk about the job, hell talk about current events. That's all you need to do.

its good to ask the interviewer questions.

ask them some detailed questions.

what are the company's goals for the next five years?
does the company plan to expand? if so, where?

another good one to ask about is recent stumbling blocks the company has run into and how they fixed that problem.

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?
