It stays more true to the book and is much better than what they showed in theaters. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

The book was much better.
I still like Omega man even though it is 70s fabulous -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

this should've been the ending..
even though it still didn't follow the book...it followed the movie plot SPOILER neville should've never died on a grenade -------------------- "Ah, y'know it's funny, these people they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good. They wake up the next day and they're on fire."

The book was much better. I still like Omega man even though it is 70s fabulous Omega man was closer to the books I think. This movie should have gone more into the fact that these infected were still self aware and not just random killing machines. Neville is supposed to be a legend (like the boogey man) to this new society. You shouldn't have to read a book to understand a movie its based on. (though I'm sure the book is better) -------------------- FUCK YOU

I thought for sure they would at least SHOW the things as self-aware in some capacity (after neville for a reason...aka the infected he kidnapped from them), but alas, the made a stupid cga ending. -------------------- |

Yep, completely agree. The movie was entirely too short. They could have easily added some time and really got into the story and explained what was going on. The original synopsis of the movie included a reference to those who are "living with the infection" but it never showed up in the movie. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

Neville truly was the last man on earth.
They never explained that very well at the end. They let you think something completely stupid so you could feel good. I wish they'd stop making apocalyptic movies with happy endings. -------------------- "Ah, y'know it's funny, these people they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good. They wake up the next day and they're on fire."

(though I'm sure the book is better) Somewhat, "The last man on earth" starring Vincent Price was A LOT like the book. The only major differences was Neville's name in that adaptation (Morgan) and his death. It's worth a watch.... even though it was produced in 1961 ish and it is kind of corny. I love the irony at the end of the book... -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? The book was amazing, i would have loved to see the girl at end of book incorporated to being the girl at end of movie... but alas... just another movie potential ruined by people like micheal bay craving special effects over story telling.
I really did enjoy the first of the movie though... him going through his daily life was pretty awesome. But the wifes death (twice) in the book was better. -------------------- |
