Ok, so I've recently rediscovered my love for camping. Seriously, its a blast, I love it.
I have a 3 room tent, two coolers, lamps, flashlights, gear, you know the usual camping stuff, and I stay packed and ready to go at a moment's notice. So would anyone else be interested in setting up a Techsan's camping trip? There are a ton a great places in the Hill Country and I know a lot of us either live in the austin area or make homebase here or in DFW. |

Spec - my g/f would go, and she's a cool chick. Maybe some female coworkers i know might be up for it.
I'm looking for a date in May, so maybe May 23-25th? Its a weekend. Options: (My favorites) Enchanted Rock - beautiful, decent hiking, near Fredricksburg, and clean Inks lake - VERY pretty, lots of water to play in, easy going campsites, an hour or less from Austin, also very close to Longhorn Cavern. I would also bring my dogs, one pointer/spaniel mix weighing around 55 lbs, and a 65lb choco lab |

(had a friend in the dorms went camping.... forgot his shoes... he spent the entire time hiking in sandels) -------------------- |

I like to hang out and hike. I don't want my schedule to be full, but I'd like some activities. Go to a cave, hike, play in a river/lake, but also sit around with a cold beer, a good fire, and a hot woman. Just getting away and doing things I won't do in my office.

QUOTE and yea, this would be a good chance for me and zach to bust out with the minimum amount of gear required.... last time we packed for comfort, this time we go all hardcore on it. Fuck yeah. And the May time frame means I would have both birthday money AND stimulus refund money. So that means we could get those mega-awesome tents, Brandon! All compact and hardcore. But yes, minimalist camping all the way. Vest, butt-pack, backpack. All my essentials crammed in there. Guess I'll need to fix up my Jeep by then as well so we could carpool. I could probably talk my boyfriend into it, maybe a couple we're friends with too. Need to head up to Waco and nab any camping stuff my mom will let me scavenge... I have a sleeping bag, but that's about it. -------------------- |

I don't think he was being a dick, and I thought it was quite funny.
But on track, Enchanted Rock is the shit. There is a cave on top, lots of climbing and hiking. Right outside of Fredericksburg and near Kerrville and Center Point, so the Guadalupe is near. -------------------- Southern Rock, beer and bears!

ok,
so at Enchanted Rock we would have to reserve campsites and pay for them. it is a state park so the money goes toward preserving the natural beauty of texas. We can have up to 8 people per campsite, so we may need up to 3 sites. I'm willing to pay for two, anyone else willing to reserve the 3rd? |

2 days
there is a daily entrance fee for $6 per person though, but assuming we aren't going in and out then it should be a one time thing. i'm a parks member so I get in free as does whoever else is in my car so i can help go on supply runs if we need. the 15 bucks is for "walk-in" sites, with water, fire rings, tent pads, so not exactly primitive, but still fun. |

just got back from 4 days, 3 nights at Inks Lake. Great time. got fucking cold at night though, and rained.
so I will probably work to reserve the 2 campsites this week at Enchanted Rock. Now I'm going to also try to contact everyone who said they were interested and try to get a commitment. I would hate to get fucked and have people say they are coming but not show up or back out. We can have 8 people per site, so I'm thinking that 16 is the max our group could get at, unless anyone else has better math than I do. |

not on my liver...... ...weakling. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANYWAYS, really looking forward to this. As it gets a bit closer to the date, I should be more secure on whether or not I will be able to attend. I'm planning on it though. -------------------- |

I seriously can't even get drunk anymore.
My body hurts so bad in the morning after even drinking a 6 pack of beer that the last several times I've "drank" I've cut myself off at like 4 beers or two small glasses of whiskey. Camping would murder me -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

alright, are people still game for this? I'm actually getting the feeling that only Zach and Brandon would be game. Let me know by Wednesday if you're planning on coming or I'm going to recruit other people

That should give you an extra 3 inches of room in the bag. -------------------- |

That should give you an extra 3 inches of room in the bag. yea, or invest in that cold weather suit you have. i could leave the top uncovered in that. but really my only complaint will be during winter camping, if i can't learn to sleep comfortably inside it. badass warm sleeping bag, but a guy my size isn't ment for a mummy style bag. GET ON AIM, WHORE -------------------- |

GET ON AIM, WHORE That winter suit owns all....in all honesty, it negates the necessity of a sleeping bag (except in extreme situations). -------------------- |

Just come camp in my backyard. We have a bonfire and now a deck, since I just built one while my lazy ass roommates were passed out hung over. And we're gonna buy one of those above ground pools.
