Ok since all the sports media won't shuttup about this, I'm curious what you guys think. Clemens has had a 60 mins interview, press release, and recorded phone conversation with McNamee. Should be easy to find if you hadn't seen/heard any of them. IMHO all these interviews and recordings make Clemens look even more guilty, but then again some parts of them point the other way. I.e. McNamee on Clemens taking a lie detector test: "He's probably one of the ones that could beat the test." I'm not sure what to think but I'm still about 80/20 that he's guilty.

as much as i hate clemens, i feel the same way as i do about bonds.
he's innocent until someone proves otherwise.
and even if he is guilty, i still don't care.

Barry admitted taking them. He just claimed he didn't know what they were at the time.

I don't really care if he did them or not. I just hope he doesn't come out of retirement for the 300th time. He's old. He gets paid way too much to throw too few pitches.

Think he did 'em because he never explicitly told the trainer on the phone - "Tell them you lied and you didn't inject me with steroids or hgh." He always tried to get the trainer to say it without saying it himself so he could, at a later time, say that "I never said that!"

That being said, it doesn't matter too much. I never had respect for him to begin with smile.gif

Looks like McNamee has given the feds some type of physical evidence

NEW YORK — Brian McNamee has turned over physical evidence that Roger Clemens' former trainer believes will show the seven-time Cy Young Award winner used performance-enhancing drugs, McNamee's attorneys told The New York Daily News.

Where does someone store old syringes like that? In the freezer next to the drumsticks?

yeah, i wonder how he plans on verifying his evidence

"well i've been holding on to these a few years like you would a dirty blue dress with semen on it, and i've had them in a completely sterile environment so there's no way i could have tampered with them."

clemens admitted to receiving injections, so syringes exist with his DNA, but he can continue his "my trainer is out to get me" defense with this evidence.

Why didn't Monica swallow? Actually, why didn't Bill pick a girl who would agree beforehand to swallow?

I think he did it too, but "because he's white" is a stupid response. mcnamee is white too, as well as pettitte and knoblauch (the other two congress are talking to). so you're saying they're believing clemens (who is white) over mcnamee (who is white) because clemens is white...

the reason people are doubting this evidence is because it would have been easy evidence to manufacture.

if he was an African American ballplayer he would already be guilty in the media.

Clemens is white, so people are more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt...

Do you not watch TV/listen to the news? The media is most definitely painting Clemens as guilty.

And on a side note, African American is the dumbest f'n thing I've ever heard. They're black people. If I'm "white", then they're "black". It infuriates me to no end to see some official form that gives the choices "African American" and "white" in the same form.

oh really. you are getting more and more intolerant!

Why should I tolerate people wanting me to call them African Americans when they've never set foot in Africa? Or politicians/leaders/forms that are ok with calling me by my skin color but not black people?

You wanna separate people by skin color? Fine. white, black, brown, yellow, etc.
You wanna separate people by nationality? Fine. american, mexican, canadian, nigerian, french, etc.

I wasn't aware that continent-country was a nationality. Hi I'm a European-American, even though I've never been to Europe. Or how about I move over to Nigeria. I'll call myself a North American-Nigerian. Oh or how about South Africa? That'd be cool, I'll call myself a North American-South African!

The correct way to refer to someone of an African-American background using the Associated Press style is "black" unless "African-American" is used in a quote

So 18% of America believes that Clemens didn't do...

However, the surprising thing is that 43% thinks that BOTH of them are lying? Can someone explain to me how this is possible. They think that Clemens denial is false, but they also think that the guy saying Clemens used steroids is false. So what exactly IS the third option?!

Oh yeah this was taken off of cnn.com

The question they asked is a little too general. McNamee did lie, to the new york times, to other media outlets, etc about not having any evidence. That's what that stupid senator called him out on. Was it a lie? Yeah, but obviously he did it to try to protect the players. McNamee has not lied at all to the commitees (at least it doesn't appear that he did). You're not required by law to tell the truth to some stupid newspaper.

An interesting (albeit poorly worded) article about Clemens/McNamee's grilling by the congressional committee:
