i was googlemapping something to day and stumbled upon this feature (known to google as "street view" but i call it "stalker view"). I didnt know if anyone else heard about this but it seems somewhat troubling.

I'd call it invasion of privacy if the images were updated all the time... The satellite views of Lubbock are at the very least, 3 years old.

If you're getting naked by the window you don't have much defense... Besides I don't think these things are going down residential neighborhoods (short of famous people or something like Cuban's pic above).

well, right now im trying to find spots that people have found where there is something going on, aka car accident, someone changing in there window, someone being arrested....etc. Google "nude girl google maps" or something. They caught some girl sunbathing topless on top of a building. Pretty sure it hasn't been updated since I saw it three weeks ago. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

i know there was already a story about street view about a guy who was leading the main rail against it. I can't remember the dude's name but he was the head of some privacy organization and he was talking about candid shots taken of people on street view and how this is completely in violation of this or that.
Well, long story short, he was at a google dinner and a friend of his brought him a picture. On this picture is the privacy guy walking to work from lunch, smoking a cig. Except he publicly professes that he is an adamant non-smoker. His only reply was "son of a bitch!" and then stalking off angrily. He was verified to be in the photo and the picture was taken on his well known lunch/work route. I thought this was pretty damn funny. -------------------- Where do we start?

Street View has been around for I think at least a year now. The additions of 7 cities (including DFW) today are new though. All the streetview privacy issues have come up before and I'm sure they'll come up again, but if you really have a problem with it, you're a jackass. You're already in public, there is legally no reasonable expectation of privacy. If your windows are open, that's your own damn fault. In fact, you could be convicted as a sex offender (public exposure, etc) even if you're in your own damn house and you're doing naughty shit in front of an open window. It's happened before.
Just because you weren't careful and got caught doesn't give you the right to whine about it. You were in public to begin with. Google doesn't use X-Ray Specs. -------------------- WAIT. I'm not finished.
