Ok I've been on and off the exercise wagon lots over the years, with my best stint being back in 2003 or so. I gotta know from some of you regulars, WTF is up w/the two day delay thing? Why the hell, when you've been off the wagon for a long time, when you come back, does it take two days after the first lifting session for you to get sore as a mofo? It's not a big deal, I just always wondered that. Once you get fully back into it, usually I'm sore the next day and that's it, but on the first time back, I pound it, then next day eh, not very sore, then the day after that it all hits at once.

Its lactic acid. Your muscles are not laced with as much mitochondria and are not used to dealing with the high demand of energy output.

I dont know about the biological reasons, but I know if you've been off the wagon for even a month (like I have been unfortunatley) and you try to start up again it's hard.
I've maybe lifted 3 days in the last 3 weeks and I tried doing a "normal" back workout the other day and didn't even make it through half of it. The best thing to do is, not set a "day limit" but just dont over do your workout. I mean start out very light for a week, go heavier the next week, and work your way into it, giving yourself perhaps 4 days on and 2 days off ... at least that's what I'd do. -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!
