this is what happens when you have a house full of electronics, then move back in with your parents and cram it all into one room

hey, you have the HDDVD 360 drive -- did that software update really improve the picture quality as much as everybody says?
I want one now. -------------------- WAIT. I'm not finished.

only if you have a 1080p display and use the VGA output. the cool part of the update for me was the addition of DTS. the thing is a little on the loud side though. I'll probably buy a stand alone HD DVD player some time in the next six months. like the toshiba HD-XA2 or if denon comes out with one (although they came out with a blu ray recently).

yeah it's pretty nasty. i'm the one that pays it though, and the cable bill. 2200 sq ft + houston summer + 3 people who like it cold in the house + tons of electronics that werent there before = $350 elec bill. i of course had to get HD service, cable internet, etc, so that bill is like $150. still obviously cheaper than throwing cash away into an apt. and i kept my house in lubbock as a rental property so that is a nice extra income too.
i did grab a "kill-a-watt", little device you plug into the wall, plug something else into it, and it monitors your elec usage. my main, big computer + router + switch + 2x 20" panels + a cable box = about $15/month in electricity. not quite as bad as I'd thought. i know the heat the put off makes the AC run a little harder, but it's prob not all that much and would reverse in the winter time. killawatt = http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16882715001 |
