from a blog with fred thompson filling in for paul harvey
QUOTE
Some people think that our planet is suffering from a fever. Now scientists are telling us that Mars is experiencing its own planetary warming: Martian warming. It seems scientists have noticed recently that quite a few planets in our solar system seem to be heating up a bit, including Pluto.

NASA says the Martian South Pole's ice cap has been shrinking for three summers in a row. Maybe Mars got its fever from earth. If so, I guess Jupiter's caught the same cold, because it's warming up too, like Pluto.

This has led some people, not necessarily scientists, to wonder if Mars and Jupiter, non-signatories to the Kyoto Treaty, are actually inhabited by alien SUV-driving industrialists who run their air-conditioning at 60 degrees and refuse to recycle.

Silly, I know, but I wonder what all those planets, dwarf planets and moons in our SOLAR system have in common. Hmmmm. SOLAR system. Hmmmm. Solar? I wonder. Nah, I guess we shouldn't even be talking about this. The science is absolutely decided. There's a consensus.

Ask Galileo.

I looked up a few articles, says it was from a few months ago. I never heard anything of this. It would be pretty funny if it is true though. One article I got to had the scientist who wrote it saying that, according to the pattern they're seeing in the sun's irradiation, we should see a steep cooling in about 15-20 years. if that happens, LOL @ the hippies!

Yeah, I heard a while back about other planets having increased temperatures. Funny how you don't hear about it much in the news....

Yeah, but no one's really attempting to destroy nature. If they were, I'd think that would be kind of silly, too. Earth was here before us and it will be here after us.

Nuke the planet and wipe out man? So what. The waste will decay eventually. Micro organisms will still exist. Life will go on.

its proven that the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation cause emissions of greenhouse gases. signs of global warming are obvious whatever the cause right?
temp has risen 1 degree just in the past 140 yrs (yes this is significant). the coming and rise of the industrial revolution? sounds fishy!
its predicted the earths temp will rise 2.5 - 10.4 degrees by the end of this century making it the HOTTEST since the dinosaurs. so the cycles are that spread apart?

lets just delve into other areas that humans havent had any part in...
in 1991 estimated 4k-50k species went extinct to our activites. rate of extinction is 1k to 10k higher than the natural rate of extinction which is only 2-10 species per year. if you want to know the formula for caluclating this ill be glad to walk you through it.

lets stop believing our activity doesnt have severe impacts on the environment. that belief is just stupid. for the people that say well yes i understand we are killing off animals like whoa this thread is about global warming! so you can understand the affect we have on natural life but you cant seem to grasp our effect on climate?

edit: you are getting this from Fred Thompsons blog? have you looked into the primary sources? that dude is a fucking nutso

Well, even if this is true (which I'm skeptical about), that doesn't mean that the warming is caused by the same thing. Planetary atmospheres are complicated things.

god dammit impala, how many times do we have to tell you?

Al Gore, the worlds foremost leading expert on atmosphereic science, who himself has performed countless hours of brilliant scientific research for the sole purpose of saving the world, says that man is causing our planet to die, and unless we vote for HIM, the world will be lost! God? Who needs God! We've got AL GORE!!!!

As stated above as such that Al Gore is analogous to God, as he's going to save the world, he is a Pillar of Moral Greatness, and would NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER do anything that was deceitful to manipulate public opinion to catapult him into the White House....Don't forget! HE is the world's foremost climatologist! He ALSO created the internet!

And also, we don't live on mars, or jupiter, or pluto, so who cares about those planets? Much like we don't live in the middle-east, so who cares if we drive every last remaining iota of fossil fuel production out of this country and send EVEN MORE of it over to the middle east? HEY! We saved THE ENVIRONMENT! The environment doesn't matter if it's in a middle-easter desert! GO AL GORE! WOOO!

and also global warming means girls wear less clothing so that their beautifulsexual breastboobies and girl-legs are showing more often tongue.gif laugh.gif

thompson put it on his blog, and that's where i read it. he's a very intelligent person, you'd do well to read some of his other blogs and tell us how nutso he is. the warming of the other planets and titan are data nasa released back a few months ago. from looking at several articles, the global warming proponents are saying other reasons for the several different planets experiencing warming at the same time. it would seem to me if it weren't minor solar changes causing it, it'd be a hell of a coincidence. it also seems strange to me that global warming has only become a hot topic for the past few years, even though we've had huge industry for at least half a century.

here's one of the articles: http://www.livescience.com/environment/070...ys_warming.html
it's funny, the propoents of global warming who are putting down the solar explanation, had a study that showed this:
QUOTE
In 2005, Long's team published a study in the journal Science showing that Earth experienced a period of "solar global dimming" from 1960 to 1990, during which time solar radiation hitting our planet's surface decreased. Then from the mid-1990's onward, the trend reversed and Earth experienced a "solar brightening."

The sun is warming up, but I'd hasten to bet that the earth is warming at a much higher rate than the other planets.

I would venture a guess that if the Sun is causing all the planets to warm up, then yeah, Earth would warm up at a higher rate than Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Nuptune, and Pluto. What's your point? They're farther away, so it's pretty obvious that the heat energy will be transferred to some other kind of energy over that distance - it's a lot hotter 1" from a candle than it is 1' from the same candle.

global warming isnt solely just the earth surface gradually getting warmer due to humans involvement. attached with global warming is a major change in climate and weather patterns. this means some places may indeed get cooler than they are but aerage earth temperature will increase. the most siginificant thing about global warming is a change in participation. places that are dry may get an siginificant increase in rainfall, places that have plenty of rain may become desert climates.
as we get closer to catastrophe its much easier to make more accurate predictions. i dont know who predicted what you posted but global warming predictions seem to be most readily supported by the science community but those predictions are in their way correct they just werent sure how itd happen. our fish supply is in danger though specifically just to plastic can tops no. i dont think that was a real prediction though

Honestly, Im so sick of hearing about global warming... especially from the little hippies who read silly books by their favorite hippy author and then sit around and sing Kumbaya while making beaded necklaces. Shut up. Take precautions to not be throwing waste into the environment and let that be the extent of it. Quit trying to scare everybody into thinking we are going to turn green and our limbs are going to fall off by the time we are 30.

QUOTE
"I have no doubt that global — that a trend of global warming exists," Griffin told National Public Radio's Morning Edition in an interview set for broadcast today. "I'm not sure it's fair to say that is a problem we must wrestle with."

"To assume that is a problem is to assume that the state of the Earth's climate today is the optimal climate, the best climate that we could have or ever have had and that we need to take steps to make sure it doesn't change," he said. "First of all, I don't think it's within the power of human beings to assure that the climate does not change, as millions of years of history have shown.

"Second of all, I guess I would ask which human beings — where and when — are to be accorded the privilege of deciding that this particular climate that we might have right here today, right now, is the best climate for all other human beings. I think that's a rather arrogant position for people to take."

I agree and disagree. I mean, yeah, I like it warmer and some like it colder. I think global warming hippies though say that the warmer temperatures are causing harsher weather... monsoons, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. Additionally, there is the issue with the polar ice caps melting and causing issues. I dont know. I still think its all natural

Christians are supposed to be the stewerds of creation, and take care of the planet and not drive SUV's to church and outdo eachother there.

Some christians believe that the 2nd coming is nearing so they don't have to protect the environment.
