I'm gonna have my knee looked at when I see the doctor later this month, 'cause I've been having trouble with it off and on since January. I hope hope hope I'm not going to need surgery, because I've been taking ballroom dancing lessons and otherwise working out regularly and don't want to have to quit.

I suspect that I'll only need a brace and some physical therapy. I have minor swelling periodically, but nothing major, and it doesn't act up a whole hell of a lot. I just want my damn kneecap to stop popping out of place or whatever the hell it's doing.

Had my knee looked at today. The doc thinks I have patellofemoral pain syndrome (aka runner's knee), though we'll know more once my x-rays get back. Assuming it's that, I'm starting physical therapy on Monday to strengthen the... vastus medialis, I think it is? I think it was that he said and not the vastus lateralis.
(And no, I'm not trying to hijack this knee problems thread... just didn't see the point in starting my own. This post has been edited by Spectatrix: Jun 20 2007, 02:13 PM -------------------- |

Hrm... their patellar kneecap stabilizer looks promising. Anywho, I'm sure the physical therapist will have a recommendation for a brace if she thinks I should be using one.

So yeah, i just heard and felt a large "ripping" sound come from my inner thigh whilst stretching before a run... this can't be good.
No pain, or immediate swelling, but i iced it anyway to make sure. Scariest sound i've ever heard in my life though... -------------------- |

Update: The surgery was a success; full ACL replacement as well as torn lateral meniscus repair. I've never been so bored in my entire life, I've mastered the stairs and bathroom breaks already, but most of my day consists of tv, online poker, and small exercise walks around the cul-de-sac with my crutches. here's a list of things to do:: 1.read a book 2. yell at random people for no reason, use the wrong racial slurs when possible to add to confusion 3. be belligerant to the elderly 4. pretend you are a ninja (at least be a wounded gimpy ninja) 5. practice being a male backup singer in a rap song. you are the guy that says "yea!" "uh huh!" "go boy" and "what it is" at appropriate times 6. be belligerant to the elderly, and use the wrong racial slurs (advanced level) 7. practice your bb gun and/or sling shot skills. if neither of these devices are available... chunk rocks 8. make a fort using the cushions from the couch 9. replace your crutches with pogo sticks. 10. invent rules for new extreme "pogo crutch" competitions -------------------- |
