Who else besides Iraq reneged on nuclear arms treaties and inspectors?
and lance... thrid world bitches are what attacked our country... you should worry about them. especially when they start renegging on nuclear arms treaties and inspectors. Impala still believes IRAQ was responsible for attacking our country! Impala is retarded!! If this thread receives a majority of "No" votes then I have lost faith in humanity and will close Techsans down due to the stupidity of everyone who posts here. |

I'm not serious about the conspiracy shit I post and I definitely don't keep it going after I'm proven wrong.
Impala needs to admit he's wrong, that the statement he made obviously implies he was talking about Iraq, and that Iraq had nothing to do with 911. |

The way I read it, he was saying that we need to watch out for 3rd world people. And we need to watch out for 3rd world countries with nukes (Iraq, Iran, NK, etc.)

Stephan, which one attacked our country? Iraq, Iran, or NK? None and he never said any of them did, just that we need to watch out for them. People from third world countries did attack this country though. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I'm just trying to figure out if his quote implied that he was referring to Iraq or not. I'm talking about that particular quote, not anything else he said in the thread. Any normal person who reads that quote will automatically assume he's speaking of Iraq.

in just that quote alone, yes I guess I would think he's talking about iraq.
however, I read it in the real thread, and NO it did not read like he implied Iraq. he even admitted it??? freakin me out... |

Then consider only the quote when you vote, that's what this poll is about. This poll is not about the thread.

Then consider only the quote when you vote, that's what this poll is about. This poll is not about the thread. So when you see a story title "Tragedy at VT" do you make up your own tragedy and assume that's what it was? -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

but that doesn't even make sense? an argument or debate is always wrapped in dialogue, and is meant in context...
you're like...trying to make a non-point by focusing solely on two out of context sentences??? |

No. From that quote alone, he is not talking about Iraq. If you're going to require that people can't reference other sources such as that thread, then you cannot infer Iraq into that quote since it's not even mentioned. All I see there is a warning. A warning that third world countries that back out of treaties are a cause for concern.

I voted yes. I think he probably still feels, deep down in his warm and fuzzy conservative heart, that Iraq had something to do with 9/11. He went back on it later in the thread, but meh, who knows how anyone really feels over the INTERNETS~!
Don't shut down Techsans, Lance. That's completely uncalled for (especially given the amount of $ I've donated to this site!). -------------------- |

i am guessing that lance's issue with the statement is in regard to the referentiality and ambiguity of the pronouns.
"thrid world bitches are what attacked our country... you should worry about them. especially when they start renegging on nuclear arms treaties and inspectors." Third world bitches is a subset of a group of other third world countries realized as "them." "they" is used to refer to this group generally speaking. This is the difference between the 3rd person plural referring to an entire group as opposed to referring to a member of that group. The actions described by the second sentence do not typify the group responsible but instead serve as warning signs to be looked for in any member of the group. |

-------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?
