The NY Times is ripping on this guy for being a conservative.

The only thing I have heard about this guy is that he wants to reform the labor laws. I guess in France they only work 35 hour work weeks. He wants to up that cuz the unemployment rate is high and the worker ambition is low. I guess whatever works. I think its good to have a little more time off of work, though.
Of course, I heard this from my mom so if what I just said is completely wrong, blame her, not me. I havent really heard anything else about this guy. I dont even know what all the controvery leading up to the election was about. |

QUOTE I guess in France they only work 35 hour work weeks. He wants to up that cuz the unemployment rate is high and the worker ambition is low. I guess whatever works. I think its good to have a little more time off of work, though. less than a 40 hour work week is plain lazy. period. france has gotten fat and apathetic from the strength of the labor unions in their socialist government over the years. I think this guy is on the right track to stop that crap. At least he has the intent...now whether that can be implemented... |

my family hates him but they are french that can be expected.
they say that hes anti french. french people love their lifestyle and their culture so much that they have let immigration go crazy like the track america is on. he's working to pull them out of the crazy shit thats been going on but i think its a fair thing to say a lot of people think hes going too far. i agree with lance... partly and that scares me -------------------- Little monkeys making money

Their immigration needs to be reformed, just like here.
Part of the reason they had the riots were because of immigration problems. Too many people, not enough jobs, and people thinking it was race related. Neocon, liberal, blah, blah, blah... The question isn't what party he's with or what group he associates with, it's whether or not he is going to help France become a better place. Obviously the people want him, he got elected. He wants to liberalize the economy, wow, that doesn't sound very conservative at all. Also, he isn't a socialist. That's a plus. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

in order to fully appreciate this new pres, one needs to have a good understanding of the shit sandwich france's leftist/socialist policies have gotten them into over the past few decades.
desperate times...desperate measures. the french people voted this guy in...that should tell you something. |

I heard over the radio a couple of people call in who used to live in the country in france, said that the vast majority of people who live in the smaller towns and countryside are very similiar and share views of those in the southern USA.
