I am including candidates (along with their official title, if they have one)who have filed with the FEC, formed exploratory committees, and those who have expressed serious interest.
I listed all the candidates listed in wikipedia's articles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_and_...atic_candidates http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_and_...ican_candidates This post has been edited by jonathan83: May 7 2007, 08:14 AM -------------------- ![]() |

i actually just got done re-watching the demo debate, and I think i'd vote obama over gravel by just a narrow margin, only because i think gravel is a little to ingrained against change. that said, obama's enviromental policy wasn't there for me, and Ron Paul is sounding more and more like a good choice for me. My only fear is that once he takes office, he'll swing more towards the GOP side then he is right now, which isn't very.

Yeah. That is pretty dumb. You don't get to vote for both a Republican and a Democrat last I checked, but I've only voted in two presidential elections and it's been a while.

I know you can't vote for 2 candidates, I'm just asking which candidates from each party you like the best. So yeah, pick one from each. If you just extremely hate the other party, pick the lesser of the evils.

alright I went ahead and added a "none of the above" to each party, so if you really just don't want to pick someone from the dems or republicans then vote that way.

All of the candidates are essentially the same.
-------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

Barack Obama and Ron Paul, though I've yet to watch the debates in full (I'll go back and watch them sometime this week). Bill Richardson is a bit too fast and loose with government resources for me to be comfortable with him in office.

I think McCain is better suited to be a senator than a president. I think Guiliani is too liberal. I would vote for Romney because he's definatley the most conservative, and even though that's a turn-off for me, I think that's needed in the white house to balance a left-leaning congress.

Them opraholics are nuts. diverse in comparison to what? i mean, i know they have various stances. but to be scalar, they all gravitate towards moderate, which is a good way to appear suitable to more people, but i have a general distaste for it. oprah is magic, but i would guess her loyal following takes voting slightly more seriously/personally than buying a book that she recommends. the questions are extremely clear: Who is your Democratic candidate of choice? Who is your Republican candidate of choice? Anyhow, I'd like to see Fred Thompson run. Hell, the man hasn't even announced he's going to run, and he's already the #2 preferred ® candidate behind Giuliani. oh and I put down Barack Hussein (lawlz dont sue me barack) Obama as my demo choice |

yeah, im kinda liking Guiliani as well. I just need to read a little more on him you should. there is a very important intangible aspect to this election versus any other in recent history... the worldwide image of the US has suffered immeasurably since W has been in office. the world stood beside us on 9/11. and Giuliani was the leader of that day...not the pres. I'm not saying we should vote on who would be most popular with other countries by any means, just saying his image sure wouldn't hurt ours... |

the worldwide image of the US has suffered immeasurably since W has been in office. 1) how has the worldwide image of the US changed? from what image to what image? 2) if all a candidate is concerned with is our image to the rest of the world, I don't want them as my president. the world stood beside us on 9/11. and Giuliani was the leader of that day...not the pres. oh gimme an effin break. he made a couple of speeches to the city. granted he seems like a good leader and would prob make a good president, but he wasn't "the leader of that day". he was the "outspoken victim of the day". all I'm weary about on him, would be his inability to stand up to the democrat congress we have. |

from world leader whom everyone trusted to country who invade others on shotty intel. before all this BS...if we went in somewhere, no one cared because "the US probably has a good reason"...now? not so much. our credibility has suffered. so you believe we're no longer a world leader? or just not trusted? which nations no longer trust us that trusted us before? I sure don't see any the commerce, or foreign aid we provide to anyone being cut off. I don't see any of our all too numerous military bases polka dotted across the planet being shut down by their respective host countries. I don't see the landslide movement from other countries towards removing our troops and taking the reigns in Iraq or Afghanistan. I hear what you're saying, and if all I did all day was watch CNN (not saying you do), I'd probably believe it. I just don't see the worldwide action to back it up. At the end of the day, if some attack or crisis happens somewhere, people feel safe and protected when they see the stars and stripes coming to help them. don't be a fool. to not be concerned with your reputation is to live haphazardly. we don't have a world government. we don't run by other people's rules, they run by ours. if you start letting the little guy make the rules you lose your power. even Bush has tried several times to go on popularity visits to other nations...wtf was that jungle dancing shit that he just did a couple weeks ago? that wasn't making policy...that was trying to up his image... it's called, trying to beef up the republican image before the presidential race in 2008. |

I don't really see how we're a "global dick" with the insane amount of aid we give to other countries, and the essentially free protection we provide for anyone friendly to us. isn't that exactly what a world government would be? yep, it just isn't "official" is it |

I don't have statistical data for you man.
I've just noticed there is much more open antiamerican sentiment overseas than there was just 10 or 15 years ago. people find out you're american and they want to get all up in your ass about W and the war...whereas before politics wasn't something people normally jumped into when you're having a drink or waiting for a bus or something. |

well that's exactly what I mean. they'll talk shit all day long, but they still want our money and protection. it's kinda like the liberal americans. they'll want war, when it suits their interests. if it goes bad they'll blame the conservatives and whip out the anti-war sentiment. if it goes well they'll hail all in power as great leaders.
it sounds like you've had some overseas experience, and I don't. but would I be right in guessing that there's always been plenty of anti-american sentiment? to me if it was some real change, and the countries really were against everything we're doing, they'd show it with some type of political action. |

Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

I haven't really paid much attention to the campaign because we're still over six months away from the first primaries and all of these candidates are one Howard Dean scream/yip or sexual scandal away from being completely irrelevant.
That being said, from my limited (by choice) exposure to this issue, I haven't heard Barak Obama say anything that I don't agree with... I probably identify closest with Ron Paul, but he doesn't have a prayer. The only mainstream Republican candidate that I agree with on most issues is Rudy Guilani, but I find his experience a bit worrisome and he doesn't seem very Presidential to me. Let's be real, if New York hadn't been attacked on September 11th, Guilani wouldn't be anywhere close to a legitimate candidate in this race. I mean, really, do we want another Grover Cleveland or Calvin Coolidge? Historically speaking, mayors jumping to the White House have not found very much success. At this point, the only guy out there who strikes me as Presidential is Obama... Thompson, too, but he isn't officially in yet. I just don't want another eight years of having a laughing-stock as a President. I'd vote for Dean or Gore in a heartbeat, if they entered. Looks completely improbable, at this point, though. |

I still think Fred Thompson sounds like a great candidate. "Russians don't take a dump without a plan, son."

I'm not too savvy with politics, but I Obama seems like a nice man. We've never had a minority president, so I think that could be a good thing. I don't know if I think a woman could be president though.

I doubt we'd have a minority president before a white woman president. Baby steps and all.

After watching the debates and reading up a bit more, I'm actually rather fond of Mike Gravel. Unfortunately, he and Ron Paul are too blunt to get far in the polls.

the legal, registered-voter population Hispanics will definitely be the majority of legal residents within the next 50 years. Will they register to vote and vote though? Who knows. Get the right candidate and I bet they would band together. -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?

I don't like any of the democratic candidates and if hillary wins I might move to mexico, lol. I like Mitt Romney, but he makes John Kerry seem like a stubborn mule in comparison. I've seen some interviews with Fred Thompson and he seems like a genuine man who I would like to know more about, but I'm going to wait until he joins the dance.
This debate is really firing up right now with Romney attacking McCain's immigration bill, McCain firing back about his flip-flopping and then the heated battle between Giuliani and the douche that says we invited 9/11. Don't give Giuliani more fuel for his platform! -------------------- LANCE IS PRO-CENSORSHIP! HE IS CENSORING MY LOVE FOR THE LORD!

glad to see another Fred Thompson vote! that bitch better run now based just on our Techsans poll! Yeah, I don't think he'll run, and if he does then he won't get the Republican spot. The GOP wants a fierce competitor that will rip Hillary (or Obama) to shreds. Someone like Giuliani, Romney, or McCain that can show passion. Thompson is a little too levelheaded and doesn't get fired up much. -------------------- LANCE IS PRO-CENSORSHIP! HE IS CENSORING MY LOVE FOR THE LORD!

Anyone see the Michael Moore/Fred Thompson feud?
http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/r_m/2007...sen_at_war.html The one thing that I don't get is if Thompson "doesn't have time for [Moore]" then why the fuck does he post a video blog about it?! -------------------- ![]() |

michael moore is a f'n movie director. what possible reason would anyone have to want to take the time to have a debate with him? what if steven spielberg wants a debate? or britney spears? or sheryl crow? these hollywood dipshits need to realize they have no political power and stop tryin to inject themselves into the political process. If they want political power they can run for office just like everyone else.
haha here's the response video from Thompson: http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=611 moore seems to think he commited a felony in that video... not sure wtf he's talkin about. |

i like fred thompson the actor, but as a politician he's crazier and more conservative than bush. i don't think will go over well, considering some of the more moderate republicans are asking bush to hurry the fuck up with iraq. i guess time will tell, though.

Wikipedia has a pretty good overview of Thompson
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Thompson And I've learned a decent amount about his positions on recent issues from his blog on ABC radio here: http://www.abcradio.com/Blog.asp?id=15663&m=5&y=2007 |

good point. Then again, as far as the oprah vote goes, she could have picked worse. She only had two choices: Obama because he's black or Hillary because she's a woman. I think it's kind of foolish for celebrities to publicly endorse a candidate this early, because then when their candidate isn't given the bid they're like "Vote for this guy, he's my second choice!" -------------------- LANCE IS PRO-CENSORSHIP! I think it's kind of foolish for celebrities to publicly endorse a candidate this early, because then when their candidate isn't given the bid they're like "Vote for this guy, he's my second choice!" that's just it though; the oprah vote is pretty much gonna cinch it for obama. hillary has too many skeletons and too many people that flat out hate her. if the democrats want a president, they're going to realize that she's not gonna guarantee the vote the way that obama would. That's not to say hillary wont necessarily try to run anyways; if she does, however, she ends up guaranteeing another republican presidency (depending on the GOP final contender). If by some reason obama doesn't get it, i don't see oprah backpeddling; rather I see her simply not mentioning it at all (at least for a while) and laying politically low during the election season. -------------------- WAIT. I'm not finished.
