i will think about what i consume but not that much. If i have been eating like crap I will make sure not to miss a day at the gym or eat a healthier more nutrient rich meal the next day
I run 3-5 times a week. 3-5 miles and park away from campus so i walk back and forth. if i start feeling sick ill bump up the healthy foods and drink BUT i havent been doing any of these lately and for the past 3 months ive been sick during the same week of the month. exercise hugely helps immune system i can testify to that -------------------- Little monkeys making money

I eat lots of fresh food rather than canned/otherwise prepackaged crap. I do well on uncooked fruits and veggies, so I usually have fruit as a major component of breakfast & as part of lunch, plus lots of salads and veggie-heavy sandwiches. I also like eating homemade guacamole, spring rolls, lettuce wraps, and other such items, though I've been slacking on some of those as of late.
I stretch in the morning and evening and do a 3/4 mile walk after lunch with my coworkers most work days. After this week, I'm gonna have a MUCH shorter commute (15 min vs. 1 hr+) and thus will have more time to exercise. I'm planning on doing some form of aerobic exercise each day after work, probably a rotation of swimming, jump rope, jogging, and elliptical machine/treadmill in the gym. As for little stuff, I take the stairs rather than the elevator, I don't go crazy trying to find a close parking spot to a store (I'll park close if I see a spot right away, but I'm just as happy to park halfway across the parking lot), drink water & hot tea primarily, erm... other little stuff too, I'm sure. i eat six small meals a day consisting of a protein, starchy carb, and a fibrous carb... six small meals help to speed up the metabolism and keep your blood sugar at a steady rate to avoid drops etc. that can lead to sugar cravings
basically: run everyday, lift weights, stretch, and eat right i quit updating this crappy blog cause it was too time-consuming, but the information on the "about" page might help you out http://www.lancesfitnessblog.techsans.net/about/ |

mixed martial arts. Martial arts are a fun way to get in shape...be it kickboxing, jiu jitsu, wrestling, judo, boxing, etc.
I need to eat healthier though. That'll change soon enough. -------------------- |

It does make the asshole unhealthy...
-------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

I do Tai Chi each morning that I wake up. It isn't that physically strenuous, but it definitely helps on getting your mind focused for the day and also flexibility.
Eating right is important: leafy vegetables, fruit, bread. Also if I go eat out, I don't EVER eat the entire portion because some places are ridiculous about wanting to give you enough food to feed a family of four. I also run 5 times a weak, shorter distances for 4 days and then a longer run the fifth. ...and I don't drink coffee or soda (mostly water and sometimes tea in the evenings). -------------------- ![]() |

Lift Weights MWF
Cardio TR Active Things (Basketball, frisbee, volleyball, swimming) on the weekends Avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup at all costs, that eliminates a LOT of my options but it has done wonders for my metabolism. This summer I will be cooking a WHOLE lot more because eating out almost every day is probably not helping my situation any. |

that's good, i only eat foods that has minimal processing... and by minimal processing i mean i don't even eat canned soup or pre-packaged lunch-meats That's what we've been doing for about a month and a half now and you can tell a huge difference in the way you feel. I used to live on fast food and processed food. Now, on the occasions that I do eat fast food I feel like complete ass afterwards and always regret it. I try to stick to any kind of unprocessed meat, fruits, and vegetables. My doctor is of the opinion that people should not even eat most grains. If you think about it, grains have only been in the human diet since we learned to cultivate them, which is not far enough back for our bodies to have adapted to them. -------------------- LANCE IS PRO-CENSORSHIP! try out stevia to sweeten your tea or whatever, it's an all natural sugar alternative... it's not a chemical like aspartame the aspartame companies actually got the fda to outlaw stevia is commercial products because they can't patent a natrual plant and make money off it A little goes a long way too. Its sold bulk or in individual serving packets..half a pack in a cup will do it -------------------- I've got Lance in my pants

i think you have to be fairly unhealthy to feel the effects that you guys speak of I recently had myself checked out by a doctor and had some tests including extensive blood tests and my doctor said i'm in pretty good health. I'm not in good shape (I work sitting at a desk for 9 hours a day) but I'm in good health. Fast food and chemicals used in food processing are literally poison to your body. Read your labels and find out what things actually are and you'll find that most of the stuff in processed food isn't even digestible or usable by your body. -------------------- LANCE IS PRO-CENSORSHIP! I doubt everyone reacts the same to a purely fast food diet. Just because it doesn't work for 99.9999999999% of the world, doesn't mean it won't work for someone. The same with how people react differently to various workouts.

i'd like to see you eat nothing but mcdonalds for two months and see how your body feels afterwards so you were eating mcdonalds for two months straight? and man now you feel better?! well you can poop stuff out all you want but if you have high cholesterol you'll still get heart problems, and just by eating and pooping out sweets it doesnt mean you cant get diabetes. both of which are/can be genetic to the extent of being purely genetic. i think i am doing more than just "surviving" you think being a sloth lardass and only eating what you think is "unprocessed" you are going to be healthy? im sorry but exercise and genetics imo are the most important factors. ask your doctor about that by eating just unprocessed foods are you actually aware of the processing it goes through? do you just buy from independent dealers at farmers markets that promise you they dont use pesticide? you pay attention to that "organic" label that in america doesnt mean anything? oh you grow your own stuff. ah well good on you but i hope to god your meat products are going through some processing otherwise hello dementia

Ask any doctor that is worth a damn and they'll tell you that the foods you put in your body are the single most important factor in health (Yes, my doctor DID say that). Like everybody else is saying, eat a whole bunch of shit with high fructose corn syrup, white flour, and other man-made "food" and then jog a few miles a day. You may think you're healthy, but you're still at risk of getting diabetes, cancer, heart disease, etc because of what you're putting into your body. Sorry, but you're just flat out wrong on this one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthy_diet QUOTE Some foods have low nutritional value, and if consumed on a regular basis will contribute to the decline of human health. This has been demonstrated by various epidemiological studies that have determined that foods such as processed and fast foods are linked to diabetes and various heart problems.

i generally eat breakfast cereal or oatmeal for breakfast with a banananana and skim milk (not the organic cause it tastes like udder and turns blue and its not different in most cases than nonorganic milk!)
for lunch i enjoy carrots, leftovers from the night before which can range in anything. maybe some delicious meatloaf and boxed mashed potatoes or perhaps fajitas from a restaurant!, or a sandwich on orrowheat bread cause its the bestest, with some deli turket, lots of lettuce, tomato, and yes MAYO! dinner its leftovers, going out to eat, or meatloaf, sandwich, pasta i make or fish! i generally keep a low trans/sat fat content, watch my calorie intake to a small extent, only consume sugar when im cravin' i get enough sweets from fruits. i have a basic to decent knowledge in nutrition and general health so i know when im getting enough and i listen to my body point is i dont bother to look at organic labels because you are spending more money for the same products, and i dont care about level of processing because in the end id rather be safe, frugal... (and it doesnt make much of a difference if you are smart). i mean i dont eat oscar mayor bologna 1. im not that poor 2. that stuff is nasty. ive competed in mini marathons (wish to do a full!), was a competitive athelete for 6 years, did two varsity sports in HS, continue exercising to this day can run a mile in under 7 minutes (used to be better! gimme a break) and can maintain a healthy elevated cardio workout heartrate for 40minutes +, blood pressure/heart rate i am always complimented on which is weird. even my gynocologist is impressed my family is generally healthy so when am i going to be diabetic? -------------------- Little monkeys making money

Regarding the last part first, I meant a "you're" going to get diabetes in reference to a person who is eating HFCS, white flour, overly processed foods, etc. I didn't mean it in the sense that you, cathryn, were going to get diabetes (I can't make this assumption without knowing your individual diet). I don't go to the store and stick to the organic section like a yuppy, I buy a few organic vegetables and fruits, because there are some of them that are worth paying more for the lack of pesticides and increased nutritional value, and others that are not worth it. There is a difference in taste. You have been arguing in this entire thread that eating overly processed foods is not bad for you, which I strongly disagree with. You have also been giving off impression that you regularly eat a diet heavy in those types of food. Now that you reveal your diet, it is obvious that it is not the diet of the average American. Without knowing the specifics then it is hard to tell what is good and what is bad. breakfast cereal- what kind? If it's got sugar in it and is not high in fiber I can guarantee it's not good for you carrots- good for you meatloaf- depending on what you put in it (if you're making it your self) could be okay, or really bad boxed mash potatoes- I don't know what brand, but let's assume you're a fan of Betty Crocker's Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. That would mean you're eating: QUOTE Dried Idaho Potatoes, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Salt, Maltodextrin, Margarine (Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Salt, Nonfat Milk, Lecithin, Mono and Diglycerides, Artificial Color, Natural Flavor), Corn Syrup Solids, Mono and Diglycerides, Dried Roasted Garlic, Whey, Dextrose, Sodium Caseinate, Monosodium Glutamate, Natural Flavor, Parsley Flakes, Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking Agent), Artificial Color, Wheat Flour, Soy Flour, Freshness Preserved by Sodium Bisulfite and BHT. Doesn't look so healthy to me! The "Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil" means you're eating trans fat.fajitas from a restaurant- the tortillas alone probably have HFCS, white flour, and multiple preservatives. Orowheat bread- let's hope you're eating the 100% whole grain, but even if you are it contains HFCS. Deli turkey- preservatives and sugars added lettuce, tomato- good for you, unless you're using iceberg lettuce that has the nutritional value of air. Mayo- could be good, could be bad, but you're probably using the bad stuff Pasta- unless it's whole wheat it is made from white flour fish- good for you fruits- good Congratulations on being such an excellent athlete! I don't know what that has to do with anything, but okay. I'm arguing the effects of diet on your general health, not your weight. Your athletic prowess does not protect you from cancer (which doctors recommend antioxidants in FOOD to help prevent) and high cholesterol, which means heart disease (diet is good to prevent this!) I'm not trying to say I'm the healthiest person, I mean I am a sloth lardass (a 8-5 job and trying to be a productive member of society will do that to you), but I recognize the FACT that diet is the most important factor in maintaining general health. A lot of processing robs foods of their nutritional value, which means that they add nothing but empty calories to your diet. -------------------- LANCE IS PRO-CENSORSHIP! I try to eat things that say fat-free or reduced fat on them. My dad says organic foods are better for you, so I try to eat those whenever I find them. I don't really like beef that much, except for steak.

all i know is i have my runs where i eat really bad for maybe about a week solid, and it really does run you down, mess up your plumbing, etc.
a couple people said they don't eat any processed lunch meat, what do you do for stuff like sandwiches? pretty much everything at the deli will be processed too, just not chopped up yet. i likes me a good roast beef or ham sandwich (although the deli meat usually does taste way better than the packaged stuff). |

You could buy your meat raw, cook it yourself, and get a meat slicer, but I doubt anyone goes through that much trouble. I think/hope the processed meat they're referring to is more along the lines of bologna than sliced turkey breast, sliced ham, or sliced roast from the deli.
I use to eat only one meal a day, but everyone was saying how you should eat three, so I switched to three about a week and a half ago and I feel miserable. I'm going back to one meal a day next week. -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?

well say, sliced turkey, if I go get the pre-packaged kind vs I go get it from the deli (where it's a large chunk o' meat that doesn't resemble a turkey). is there a difference between those i wonder?

Here, read this: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16361276/ I don't eat sandwiches very often anymore (most bread has HFCS and/or milk (I'm lactose intolerant) so I skip it) but prepackaged deli meats are guaranteed to have additives. The stuff you see the guys slicing probably doesn't have as many, but they'll atleast add sugar and flavoring in to make it taste better. You could always do like James suggested and go the Cosmo Kramer route of buying a deli slicer, lol. -------------------- LANCE IS PRO-CENSORSHIP! HE IS CENSORING MY LOVE FOR THE LORD!

You could always do like James suggested and go the Cosmo Kramer route of buying a deli slicer, lol. yeah good article. what I'm thinking is most of the deli meats that you get behind the counter aren't any better for you than the pre-packaged stuff, or if so, not by much. better flavor and higher price is the only real difference. most of the stuff behind the deli counter is cut off of a "chunk 'o meat" kinda thing, which I'm sure is very simliar to how the pre-packaged stuff is too. i.e. != ![]() lol and saw this while searching for images:
