Is there a way to change the board settings to where when I quote someone, their picture will show up in the text box as an image tag instead of the actual image? I post from work and I have my options changed to where no pictures show up when Im viewing the boards; however, whenever I post and quote someone, the pic will show up in the text box. I dont want to accidentally have porn come on the screen.

with images off it still shoes pictures when you qupte. looks like you might just have to delete the img tags around the url of the picture manually.

or just delete the images alltogether when you quote someone.

if you used firefox like a normal person, i guarantee you there's an extension that will turn images off and on with one click. you could also use adblock.

but nooooo you're an IE user tongue.gif

1) I use firefox, stupidass

2) I dont have admin privaledges at work to download shit. I already tried to download firefox and cant. When I asked the network admin if I could, he said "no. I want all computers running the same software"

3) Who are you to pinpoint me for using a shitty piece of software when you used itunes?

Isn't there a way to make a white-list of websites a computer can access? Then you could authorize Techsans.net, the site that has your designs, and whatever else. Then, nothing else would get through.

I'm spending a few mins now to look. If I find something, I'll repost.

QUOTE
Load images automatically
By default, images are loaded on web pages. Uncheck this option to disable images completely. If images are loaded, you can still specify not to load images from certain sites by clicking Exceptions

Think you said you use Firefox? Anyway, just add www.techsans.net and you'll get the button images, but as long as people aren't uploading to techsans, then you won't see any of those images. Add the websites that include the designs you're looking for, assuming they're not sites like imageshack, etc.

Oh, I see. I misread your enumerated post. I see what you mean, now. I'll go spend another few mins on the matter then and post with a fix if I find one for IE, but I suppose if you have an admin like that, then you probably are locked out of the Internet Options feature.

Yeah, then anything I find won't be implementable on that machine. Only thing I can suggest is having everyone in the office ask the network admin for firefox on their computer. If enough people ask for it, surely he would put it on all. When I did computer work for the math department, we ended up putting both IE and Firefox on all machines for similar reasons.

yeah, im the only one there with a decent knowledge of computers. I have to show people there how to change their desktop background. Doubt Im ever going to get the admin to agree to putting firefox on there. When I talked to him before, he was like bashing firefox and shit, saying that its less secure than IE. ... not the smartest tool in the shed

sorry, i thought i remembered you saying that you didn't like firefox and preferred IE in some thread in the nerdery. I tried to search, but couldn't enter search terms smaller than 4 characters.

and for the record, I use winamp/vlc/WMP11 depending on what i'm listening/watching.

edit: and from an admin standpoint, as long as you have your GPO's locked down tightly, IE is actually the safer bet if you're intention is to reign total control over your users. The fact that firefox is open source and supports extensions and themes, as well as being ridiculously configurable by the user is actually dangerous from a admin-security standpoint. IE has such deep integration with windows, especially with GPO's that it's the easier choice. Firefox could be implemented, but it's more of a hassle from an admin standpoint, especially considering IE can be updated easily and automatically through windows update. Firefox does have automated updates, but depending on the admin's setup, that's not guaranteed to work.

Not saying it's the smarter choice, just saying i understand where he's (possibly) coming from. (then again he could just be an idiot.)

that's also true. try this: go to options, security.

see that button? show passwords. you can set a master password so it's not so easy to get at, but most people don't.

it's fun to go around on public machines and see what passwords and usernames are saved.

pw's and usernames are saved on IE also....well, not on things like myspace and stuff but all the secure websites that I use for work.... all the pw's are saved so all I do is click "login"

People are dumb, though, for saving their pw's on a public machine.
