Wow, thank you so much! I had no idea that the atomic bomb caused so much suffering and death!!!

It's sad that events led to the dropping of the A bomb. But I'm also glad that it stopped the war. How many more people would we have to sacrifice on both sides after fighting a whole other front in Europe? 60,000,000 people lost their lives in WW2. That's not including Stalin's regime that killed 20,000,000 russians.
And let it be said...that America will not sit idly by and let other people attack us on our own soil. The Japanese felt the wrath and unfortunately ,due to a lot of political bullshit, we can't demonstrate the same force with our enemies now. -------------------- "Ah, y'know it's funny, these people they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good. They wake up the next day and they're on fire."

The comments on that page remind me why I dislike many europeans. The comments like "9/11 pales in comparison to Hiroshima" completely pisses me off. Yeah the death toll was less but it wasn't even a similar situation. We did it to stop a war....not start one. The Japanese initiated the conflict with their attack on Pearl Harbor. -------------------- "Ah, y'know it's funny, these people they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good. Considering the legitimate atrocities that the Japanese committed before and during World War II, they deserved what they got and more.

am I the only one who has a weird feeling that in our lifetime there will come a huge divide in america? like one that might affect foreign policy?
what I mean is...a lot of younger people I know have a no bullshit attitude towards the world. as in...fuck em, that is their business. leave them alone if they aren't affecting us (like civil wars)...yet are also much much less tolerant and PC than the baby boomers and policy makers in office towards known enemies. I think the youth of today are pretty hardcore. some are twats, of course. |

personally i think the US is becoming a pussy nation as far as controlling it's people. when something goes wrong the first thing done is introduce a law to ban what caused it. global warming is already cause by humans in the world of politics, so now we gotta have laws to control that. some dipshit gets hit by a car while crossing the street & listening to his ipod, make it illegal to listen to an ipod while crossing the street. people getting fat cause they won't stop eating fast food, ban trans-fat.
it's all down hill from here until some politicians stand up and stay fuck em -------------------- |

damn dude why? we're not the ones who started that fight. are you taken aback because there were civilians killed? that is how you win wars...not by wiping out the other's mil. indiscriminate carpet bombing. mass causalties. those are will breakers. losing 100,000 troops aint shit in the scheme of a world war. losing 200,000 civilians is. |

I have sympathy for the loss of life. Anytime civilians have to die in war it is horrible. However, Japan had it coming. They killed millions of chinese in cold blood, surprise attacked the United States at pearl harbor, tortured and killed thousands of American POW'S and raped nearly 20,000 chinese women at Nanking. Plus they did tons of biological and chemical weapons testing on the chinese population in the 30's.

let me clarify the sympathy statement for a sec.
of course I feel bad for those people. I'm a caring human like anyone. I love babies and puppies and kitties and old people. I've visited the nagasaki peace park and it is a very overwhelming solemn place. I do not however feel bad for "japan" and it's one of those things that happened...and as a result the world and japan was better for it. I would never let my sentimentalities get in the way of ending such a terrible war. |

What's kind of scary is that it took two Atomic bombs to make a pretty loyal friend.

And the moral of the story is, ally yourself with fascist dictators and get yourself nuked.
....And the problem with this is? Japan is a COMPLETLEY different country today than it was 60 years ago. If we hadn't nuked them, they would have been at war with Hitler, and lost to Hitler, and then there would be no mexicans or japanese people, so people who like their houses cleaned or asian porn would all be suffering greatly. blah. -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!
