I had two channels go out on my sony reciever a while back so i've been looking at some and I'm liking the denon stuff... i'm trying to figure out if there's any real difference between these two..

Denon AVR-2307 (MSRP=$799, Soundwave in Lubbock=$640)

Denon AVR-887 (MSRP=$699, Circuit City=$699+$100 gift card free)

the main differences i see are just that the 887 doesn't have the serial IR repeater (which i don't really care about) or the 12V source controllers (to operate crap like motorized screens and such) (which i also don't really care about).

if anyone has other suggestions post em up! the main thing i want to is to make sure it's got up-conversion to HDMI.

any differences between the two seem to be so miniscule that you probably wouldnt care unless you were a sound guy for a living. one might be a newer model.... maybe try and find out which one is a newer model #

buy the more expensive one. it's only a tad bit more, and will resell at a much higher price later.

either way, Denon = nod.gif

edit: the more expensive one also uses a separate AC cord, big plus in my book. I don't like the attached ones if I have a choice.

btw, go ask AVSclub or AVforum

its for wiring a remote IR sensor (like when people put their components in a closet away from where the remote is used).

picked up that beeyotch from sound wave today, pretty frickin cool. and just FYI, i was actually pretty surprised at their prices on other stuff too. the people were nice and very knowledgable too. i'd highly recommend 'The Sound Wave' to anybody looking for something above best buy quality stuff.
