this is where all the random college sports stuff goes.

So with basketball season wrapping up who are y'all picking to win the Big XII (regular season). Unless Texas gets back to its old form I'm picking Kansas. It seems that they always seem to rebound and get good.

Imma say Texas for absolutely no reason.

I see Texas winning Big 12, and I see Penn winning Ivy only to lose in the first round of the tournament, in accordance with prophecy.

At the end Kansas just started stompin ass. I had the game on and figured I'd see if it played out to be close.

They showed a part where Texas hadn't scored a field goal in 5:40. That's raw.

so it looks like we got another tech person in a reality show

QUOTE
Tech recruit in ESPNU's "Summer House"

What is it with Texas Tech and ESPN entertainment? First there was the Bob Knight movie, then the Bob Knight reality series. Now incoming freshman quarterback Taylor Potts will star in the new "Summer House" reality series on ESPNU.

Potts, from Abilene, and five other recruits - including Colorado coach Dan Hawkins' son, Cody - will spend a week living together in Chicago. Led by "house dad" Chris Spielman, they will go through a series of "challenges" to determine "Big Man on Campus."

About the only thing that makes this TiVo-worthy for anyone but the players' grandparents will be visits by various sports celebrities, including statuesque softball star Jennie Finch. It starts July 25.

Texas doesn't fucking deserve to go anywhere. that was the worst fucking showing i've ever seen against an overly average football team. 7 goddamn points? i scored 14 while jacking off earlier, and that only took ten minutes.

these last two games have been a fucking joke. if Greg Davis and Chizik aren't on the hot seat right now they should be, for reasons i'll get in to later.

by the way, that aggie who cheat shotted mccoy should be kicked off the team.

I can't believe Texas lost to Texas A&M, that's pathetic. I mean, I can excuse the Kansas State loss because Colt McCoy was out and the Longhorns seem to have one game every year where they struggle against a vastly-outclassed foe. But seven points against the Aggies? Really?

You know the only two opponents (aside from Texas) who put up seven points or less on A&M? Louisiana-Lafayette and The Citadel.

Pa-the-tic.

I can't stand basketball - except for the final 2 minutes of a game. weeee.

I like how coach knight and some of the other people down there made weak attempts to tell the students to not rush the court. Hah. Nobody tells Tech fans what to do in Lubbock after big wins.

Pretty well played game. Tech should have kept the large lead they had though, they seemed to fall apart in the last 5 minutes, only redeeming themselves in the final minute.

It seems like there isnt much discipline down in Austin. Maybe they are just more highly publicized but it seems every season someone does something like this.

UT running back James Henry gets into legal trouble.
It seems like there isnt much discipline down in Austin. Maybe they are just more highly publicized but it seems every season someone does something like this.

No, it's just more dipshit UT players are getting into trouble this year.

haha leach is at it again

http://colleges.beloblog.com/archives/2007...ood_monday.html

"We have secret practices at a hidden place that is really kind of known only to those at Texas Tech," Leach said. "The location, nobody really knows about it until approximately 30 seconds before we depart and it’s hidden in a vault deep in the bowels of the Texas Tech training facility. If I really told you any more I’d have to kill you. ...
"And then the stuff we do [there] helps us tremendously and it would be something that all teams who play us keep a very close eye on and in some way try get to the bottom of."

I think this was all a ploy to get themselves on national tv. That, or Division 3 college football is about on par talent wise with 8th grade JV

For the simple reason that the Cal player leveled a band member.

More than that.

That game kept John Elway from going to the only bowl game in his Stanford career. It probably also prevented him from winning the Heisman, which Herschel Walker won.

It also gave us the greatest call in college football history. We need more guys like Joe Starkey. I'm tired of bland announcers like Joe Buck who have about as much personality as a box of tampons

I think it's fairly flattering actually. It happens all the time... I mean how many ways are there to do a tiger logo before you start looking like the other 10,000 schools w/that mascot? Check out the Lubbock Cooper Pirates' logo & colors, direct ripoff of Tampa Bay Buccs. I wonder what the legal implications of this are anyhow... I guess the bigger boys just don't care bc it's not like the high schools are really banking heavily. Plus it's a cheap way for the high schools who don't have a lot of resources to get logo gear. I.e. the Lubbock Cooper peeps can just go get a tampa bay t-shirt laugh.gif

If I recall, our fight song in Jr High was the Notre Dame fight song.

Schools

The Tuttle Public School system has four schools: Tuttle Elementary, Tuttle Middle School, Tuttle Intermediate School, and Tuttle High School. Their colors are cardinal red and white, and their mascot is the tiger. Texas Tech University stole the double-T from the Tuttle Tigers.

Quick search shows they had a football team in 1921, but were the Tuttle Warriors (not exactly double-T material eh?). Shows they didn't becaome the Tuttle Tigers until 1934.
