SSH By no means do I want this thread to turn into macfaggotry, but ! On another board, somebody once mentioned that since mac's come with a built in SSH client, that is more reason as to why they are so superior to PCs. I couldn't help but be extremely bewildered at how somebody downloading and running puTTY, is a terrible inconvenience. -------------------- QUOTE (Lance) now we have some dude from argentina wondering how to fuck dogmeat |

On another board, somebody once mentioned that since mac's come with a built in SSH client, that is more reason as to why they are so superior to PCs. I couldn't help but be extremely bewildered at how somebody downloading and running puTTY, is a terrible inconvenience. I got started with SSH on Linux, it was just the way we did things... Then I moved onto a Windows machine and got PuTTy, and now use that with the Mac. SSH is no make or break point for me using a Mac Today I made a hardcore Windows user's jaw drop after connecting to a Windows network and grabbing a file to burn in about 15 seconds. I had never connected to the network and didn't even know it existed. He was impressed. But that's neither here nor there. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

first time i used SSH was on a windows machine... /shrug
and in this day & age of <$50 wireless routers where people plug them in and don't change passwords, breaking into a "windows" network isn't really all that impressive. |

I use FlashFXP but its pirated that program rules all I used to use a pirated copy of FlashFXP, but I've switched to FTPRush. It's more or less the same thing, but with more customization options, better stability, office 2003-style customizable gui, and really, really, really good scripting support. (It's apparently become the new favorite for the scene for this reason alone.) But unless your version of FlashFXP isn't really old, or if you spend a lot of time on private topsites, i wouldn't bother switching until you reformat. ps cmd line ftp is fun. -------------------- WAIT. I'm not finished.

What's really impressive is the fact that I never said I broke into the network but somehow that's what you took from it. I was just able to connect to a Windows server, grab a file, and burn it for him very quickly and he was impressed. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

oh... well i figured it was something like that since a "hardcore" guy's jaw dropped. is there something i'm missing as to why that's impressive? You know how in windows when you try to connect to another machine on the network, especially fileshares, it usually hangs for a second while it searches the network? He was mostly impressed with the fact that it was so fast. He has a really nice machine and couldn't believe how quickly it found the share and loaded it. But this off topic and beside the point... You use what you want to use and I'll do the same. I like Windows, I like Macs, and I like Linux and they each have their place. One OS doesn't beat all. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

it was a simple question geez not a epeen comparison I don't see how my reply was a measurement of epeen... I gave you my answer and said that it was beside the point. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

no, you assumed i was making some damn OS comparison when all I wanted to know was what was impressive. I just read my reply and the whole first paragraph of it is a response to your question. My saying it was off-topic was directed at the thread itself as this thread is about FTP and your question and my response had nothing to do with that. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |
