honestly i like a lot of the propositions hes made mainly in the education and energy department. hes taken large steps away from the water downed resolutions to problems that a typical candidate will make and i just happen to agree with his viewpoint. id like to vote for him because of his non political ness and his extreme ideas but i havent heard enough of actual plans to implement a lot things. also hes just not proposing enough policy changes. Chris Bell (dem) is going the same route as kinky except his ideas just seem more doable and all his ideas are clearly stated and covers a vast array of different issues

I like that he wants to change politics in texas because god knows we need that but I'm not sure how effective he'll be. He needs to understand that the Texas Governor is useless compared to many others and alot of his plans would take some bipartisan support, yet i have heard him say he is going to bully the house and senate. I agree with Cathryn that Bell is a Kinky with a doable plan. Sadly nobody is giving Bell any credit and he will likely get the least amount of votes.

Yeah, if you're going to vote for kinky, please instead vote for Bell so we can atleast get the republicans out of the governor seat. This is what happens every time to the democrats. Some other jackass runs with a similar platform and takes votes from the democrats, allowing the republicans to win. If you care at all about kinky's platform, please vote for bell.

How does this work in the state of Texas? I know Perry is ahead, but he still doesn't have a majority. If no one gets a majority, is there a runoff?

you cant get shit done in office when you already have influential people in the black community publicly voicing your faults/racism. you cant get shit passed when those black voters are pushing black and white politicans in their area to not work with you. you cant get shit done when white politicians who want to look like they care about black people dont work with you because of silly remarks you make that you dont think about.
it doesnt matter if what you say is truely offensive and it doesnt matter if you meant it like a joke. when you are a politician and thus work FOR all people its how the PEOPLE take what you say. you cant let the bush admin/rummy say offensive things and get all upset over it and then let kinky do the same and stand up against PC Fucks -------------------- Little monkeys making money

alex people like that dont stay in mainstream politics for long for obvious reasons. your point is completely moot. kinky wants to be governor therefore he cant offend people. politicians cant rail on and make derogatory remarks about their voters. they wont get votes for again obvious reasons. i can understand why a black person wouldnt want to vote for a dude that suggested black people are all thugs and crackheads. youd have to be an ignorant careless voter to do otherwise.
a politician is suppose to work for the people, work for equality, and most importantly WITH the people. he cant go about being a "divider" this whole discussion is silly and politics and voting 101 -------------------- Little monkeys making money

when it comes down to it he needs to make friends and make alliances. he needs to be able to speak with people and get them to allign themselves alongside him and what he believes in/policies he wants to make.
in everything ive heard him say and suggest he just can't do that. that is why experience in being a stupid politician comes in handy. you know how to work with everyone -------------------- Little monkeys making money

QUOTE (Testm0nkey @ Sep 23 2006, 03:24 PM) this whole discussion is silly and politics and voting 101 great way to win a debate. He's not necessarily alienating any electorate. People need to understand that the media is a playing a BIG roll in spinning this. Anyone ever heard of sarcasm? Anyone ever heard of a joke? If people actually went out and did more research on a candidate besides what the first link on Yahoo tells you, then the electorate would be more educated and not so easily swayed by biased campaign ads and major media outlets. Have your own damn mind about this, people. -------------------- |

i have nothing against independent canidates and if i thought kinky was a good one i wouldnt have a problem voting for him. but this thread is about kinky so thats what ive been talking about.
the last presidential election sort of started out trying to make itself the election for the people, the straying away from cookie cutter historical party platforms. But that itself becomes an extreme platform and a silly one at that. At this time there are extreme issues that have extreme sides. The people have really strong ideas about what needs to happen, stay the same, or change. In that kind of political environment a canidate who straddles fences isnt going to work. And no one likes a fence stradler in the first place. edit: you dont vote for Kinky because he is an independent canidate. You vote for the politican. Go Chris Bell -------------------- Little monkeys making money

I may end up voting for Chris Bell. I just don't want Perry to win because no one can agree on anyone to replace him.

Please show me where I said anything pertaining to that. I said that this typical politician/special-interest alliance thing is not the only way democracy has to operate. Yes, I have researched Chris Bell. I've looked into every candidate because I am ridiculously passionate about politics/government in the state of Texas. I happen to prefer the INDEPENDENT views (hey, fancy that) held by Kinky. I also enjoy many of his ideas that I think have a potential of passing. -------------------- |

When I say "on the fence" I don't mean someone who can't make a fucking decision about an issue. I mean someone who takes a less biased approach. Someone who thinks logically and makes a decision that would benefit all. Not someone who's influenced by lobbyists and special interests.

a politician has to work on compromise which in definition requires working conditions to build a compromise with another party of people. a politician to get his policies made into action has to stand before the people and state why this policy is a good policy. he has to have good standing with people so people listen to him
zach you said "why does that HAVE to be" . in my opinion that is democracy. you cant have democracy without working together -------------------- Little monkeys making money

QUOTE (Psykopath @ Sep 23 2006, 02:38 PM) But why are they harping on one such joke that was made in 19 fucking 80?! Isn't that a bit of a stretch? Yeah, the recent stuff is also getting attention, but it's still BS. The guy's a comedian, among other things. A joke is a fucking joke. When did every damn Texan get paper-thin skin? I understand that a Governor needs to present a "statesman image" but I feel part of that image needs to include the ability to exist OUTSIDE of this cookie-cutter, two-party image of a politician. bingo for the most part, Americans have a sense of humor and most will speak their minds, regardless of the PC nutjobs. why shouldn't our elected officials be the same? they are, after all, representing the people -w i miss NPR everything else, cesspool |

QUOTE (Psykopath @ Sep 23 2006, 03:30 PM) great way to win a debate. Have your own damn mind about this, people. i agree with this as well. and probably everything else zach says in the next few pages that i havent gotten to yet |
