And we're worried about these people? Cut the barb wire fences, build some tunnels, and teach 'em to swim... Hell, just send some mexicans over, they'll teach them how to get to freedom.

The fact that the roads are deserted is weird...

There is a company that arranges vacations to North Korea ... but they're extremely expensive, you have a "guide" who follows you everywhere, you're forced to look at all their wacky propaganda, and Americans are forbidden from signing up.

the company is Hyundai. it's 330,000 won (about $350) and only for the weekend.
i actually can't wait to see all the propaganda, it'll be interesting.
i was already given a list of what i can't bring, and what i can't touch, take pictures of, do, etc.
i'm definitely gonna try and take some pictures of things i'm not supposed to.

So when we don't hear from you for weeks and weeks we can assume you got thrown into a work camp?

What was the list of things you weren't allowed to bring?

How are you making this trip with a U.S. passport? Not a U.S. citizen?

i'm a US citizen. what happens is instead of stamping your physical passport, they stamp a leaflet and put that inside your passport. then whenever you leave, they just pull the leaflet out..and its like you've never been.

i posted this in another thread before, but here are just some of the banned items/regulations:
QUOTE
9. Banned items list and other regulations
â‘  Mobile phones and other communications devices are not permitted.
Cameras with telephoto lenses of more than160mm and binoculars with
zooming capabilities of 10 times or more are banned. All electronic
equipment must be checked at the Guemgang Condo before departing for
North Korea. This includes all cameras, battery chargers, PDAs,
video cameras, notebook computers, calculators & CDP, and MP3 players.
② Newspapers and magazines from South Korea aren’t permitted. You are
allowed to bring personal reading material but please take the subject
matter into consideration.
â‘¢ You must ALWAYS wear your ID (you will get this before you arrive in NK)
around your neck. You will be fined if it lost or damaged.
â‘£ Must carry your passport and ID with you at all times.
⑤ You are not permitted to bring alcohol or other food items into North Korea.
â‘¥ Washing hands and/or feet is not allowed in the fresh water springs (fine is $15).
Also, please be aware of the NO SMOKING areas and do not leave cigarette butts on ground.
⑦ Do not take any natural objects(such as rocks)
⑧ Only US dollars and credit cards are accepted.
⑨ There are many large rocks with engraving done by the government. Do not touch
or lean on these rocks.
â‘© You may speak with the North Korean people that you meet, but you may not
take random pictures of them, including pictures from inside the bus. In addition,
please be careful of the conversation topics when speaking with North Koreans.
DO NOT talk about politics, diplomatic relations, economics and other such sensitive issues.
-Taking pictures of North Korean people is not allowed. That being said, you can try
asking politely to take your picture with a North Korean person. The waitresses in the restaurants are rather receptive to the idea.

Sorry to dig this up but I found some pictures on BBC.co.uk that I thought were interesting.

Go to the last photo. They're definitely stuck in the 50's... It's like a time warp.

If you are interested in learning some more about life in North Korea turn on your television right now and flip to ABC Primetime. Pretty interesting stuff.

What was interesting was the obvious intent to go over to that country and try to make them look bad.

Not saying Kim shouldn't be overthrown. But that was ridiculously obvious american propaganda.

To a point. The most interesting things to me was the fact that they (the students) were taught that things were not from America. I do feel like they still think they are on guard for war, which, I don't blame them. They aren't a bad country, they are very loyal, almost to the point of brainwashing. Kim's the problem though.

I do not think you can label a whole population as evil, just misguided by the few fucks in power. In the same way alot of the world thinks about the US being imperialist.
