I just received a bill in the mail for a whopping 60 cents for driving through a toll part of 183. Only thing is, I've never driven on any toll road. The only time my truck was driven by someone other than me was when my roommate borrowed it to pick up a washer and dryer. He went nowhere near the toll road.

60 cents is nothing, but it's the principle of the matter. The bill stated that an automobile with my license plate was photographed on the toll, so obviously they have picture evidence. I don't like tolls one bit so I decided to screw with them and demand photographic evidence to be mailed to me. Figured I'll make em pay far more than 60 cents to collect a bullshit bill.

They refused.

So, wait. They can accuse me of using a toll, refuse to provide any sort of evidence that I used it, and bill me?
Fuck that shit. If I had the time, I'd seriously think about finding a lawyer pro bono. If they're pulling this shit with me, you know they're sending others fictitious bills. They made us pay for the road, they charged us to use it, and now they're charging us not to use it? What is that, triple taxation?

Also ask for which toll booth got you.

there are several ramps on 620 or 45 and north mopac


go to www.txtag.org and find the ramps...it's very possible you used one..like entering and exiting quickly or something

they charge .60 cents if you use a ramp and they send the bill by mail

My girlfriend recently got a similar bill, but she has a tolltag on her car. I think their equipment is malfunctioning or something because I checked the date and license plate number on the bill and the charge should have been put on the tolltag instead of being mailed.

It would certainly be easiest for Will just to pay the toll. That having been said, they should provide photo evidence if they claim to have it. If they are unable to substantiate their claim, then the toll charge should be dropped.

My stepbrother had his own toll road story last week. Several months ago, he accidentally ended up on a toll road and he has no TX Tag. No biggie, he pulls into the cash-only lane (which was open)... only to find out that the change machine wasn't there. So he ends up getting a bill in the mail, for the toll + $5 or something.

1. In no way, shape or form, am I "crying" about this. I fully explained that 60 cents isn't the issue and that losing 60 cents won't affect me (or anyone else, for that matter). Nor did I imply that I'm "screwing" the government by not paying the fee. I'm merely protecting myself from getting screwed....not out of 60 cents, but out of the right to see evidence for the act I'm charged with. Again, paying sixty cents isn't the issue here

2, There is no possible way I could have accidentally missed a toll road while I was driving drunk, because the last time I drove with even one beer in me was back in February. I still drink, yes, but when I do I'm either at my house or I call a cab. Cabs cost a good deal, but when you think about the consequences of paying around $8000 if you get caught driving drunk (not to mention all the other risks), paying $15 for a safe ride home doesn't seem like that bad of a deal.

3. I've stated dozens of times, both when we were together and on here, that I despise drama and want no part in it. I'm sure you think me posting about some dramatic event is some desperate ploy on my part for attention...it isn't. I'm merely asking for advice from people whose opinions I somewhat value.

Yeah, thanks for the correction, Anderson Mill didn't sound right but I couldn't think of the exit that takes you to 183. There is a tolled exit for Lakeline as well.

The Austin tolling booths are weird, especially on 45 and 130, as they flash every time you go through them (not just for a missed toll). It's blinding.

There is no tolled exit for Lakeline blvd where you can pay cash or anything . The exit right before that is Lakeline Mall Drive and is the "Last Free Exit". I drive this route every day on the way home from work.

I chose not to work right now. Seriously, squeeze something half the size of a baby out your asshole and see if you want to work. I don't know anyone that would find working under my situation a good idea. I had a difficult pregnancy while in school so I couldn't do both. I finished school in mid May and was due in July.
