I know this has been discussed before, but I don't see the thread for it...
A friend of mine got a speeding ticket and wants to take defensive driving. I've been meaning to re-take it for insurance, since it's been more than three years since I last took it. So for both of us... Any recommendations on online places to take it? Preferably ones that you can let the vids run in the background while you go do something else... and then get asked real questions rather than ones about the instructor's shirt. You're going to have to pay attention to the online course and answer inane questions to show you actually watched the videos. That's the point of them - they're trying to prevent people from doing exactly what you want to do...half ass it.
As for where to find them, I think there are links on TxDOT's site. Otherwise just Google it. But I'd make sure whichever one you choose is approved by TxDOT as a valid course they'll accept. Otherwise you'll be wasting several hours of your time and money --------------------   |

Yeah, I wanna half ass it... so sue me. I don't need 6 hours of inane videos to tell me info I already know.

Well if you don't pay attention you won't pass the test. The test will have questions like "what color was the commentator's shirt?". I took the blockbuster rental one a long time ago but it was boring. I think if you specifically search for "comedy defensive driving" you might find some decent ones.

Mkay. I was kinda hoping people here would have experience with some of the online ones. Guess not.
The course I took before was a local one in Lubbock, with a lame-ass instructor who thought he was a comedian... but really wasn't. The only thing funny about him was that he actually thought his jokes were good. Amy (Amica) actually took that course with me, though I don't remember if we coordinated that or just ended up in the same class together. -------------------- |

What you can do is speed through the text material and copy it into a text editor. Then when you're asked a question on the test just type in part of of the question and do a search through your text editor and you'll find the answer. Easy as shit. Most of the time the video is on the same information as the text, but occasionally they ask retarded questions like the color of the actors shirt. |

They aren't so bad. *shrug* You can't minimize the page while the videos are going, and the tests are timed...but if you have two computers, it works out perfectly. I prefer the online ones so that I can just complete it at my own convenience.... which is usually like the day before it has to be turned in lol. Anyways, I know restaurants like Golden Corral sometimes have Defensive Driving courses that come with a buffet. That would be heaven IMO.

I don't remember which one i used but most of the questions were common knowledge and you could start and stop the test whenever you wanted, which was convenient. I half assed it and got a 100 on the tests so it should not be a problem.
