So it's failed program AGAIN?

That's ok, lots of illegitimate children are good for the economy.

Well, I think abstinence education works well for higher income kids, but lower income kids just need to be taught how to wrap and dam it up.

1. Poor kids steal, making the cost irrelevant

2. Numerous places pass out free condoms, including planned parenthood and other social organizations.

yah, cuz all kids want to waste time traveling to the Planned Parenthood to pick up condoms, a place where it's kind of embarrassing to even be seen within 100 yards.

Also, not all poor kids steal.

Well, where did they fall on this list? Oh that's right the article conveniently didn't provide the list. Remember, it says the national average is 47.8% and Texas is at 52.9%. Is California "not having a problem" at 51.3%? And Texas has like 75% of our border with Mexico and I would venture to guess has by far the most illegal immigrants if you compare those states.

And your guess would be by far wrong.

http://www.statemaster.com/graph/peo_est_n...egal-immigrants

California has twice the number of illegal immigrants. However, both states have approximately the same pregnancy rates from data I've read from Google research. That would suggest that there is not a strong correlation between illegal immigrants and teen pregnancy rates.

1. You're looking at totals, not percentages. California has a higher overall population than Texas.
2. Your source is 8 years old dude. The page says 7 million total, and the estimated total right now is something like 13 million.
3. And I'm still waiting on the full list of % of pregnancies. Hell how about just the top 10?

I actually think you are being the retard here. Abstinence is taught at most private schools, and from my own experience, private schools have a much much lower pregnancy rate. Why? DURRR probably because 1) the kids aren't low income and 2) they aren't being taught how to fork each other. Sex education is stupid. Yeah, they should know what std's and pregnancy are and that if you chose to do something, you need to use a condom or other method of BC, but they shouldn't know HOW to do it, which is something that public schools are teaching now.

I would rather teach my children myself what I want them to know.

I don't feel like looking up stats for illegals, but here are some stats that might help. They are from census.gov.

California
Individuals below poverty level: 13.1%
Total population: 36,457,549
Hispanic or Latino (of any race): 13,074,155 or 35.9%

Texas
Individuals below poverty level: 16.9% (That's a pretty big percentage increase IMO over California)
Total population: 23,507,783 (much lower than California)
Hispanic or Latino (of any race): 8,385,118 or 35.7% (about the same percentage wise)

The thing is, though, that we can't equate the number of LEGAL Hispanics to the number of illegal ones there are. I just was throwing those numbers out there just for shits and giggles. The 3% increase in poverty level is what I find interesting, though.

http://www.fairus.org/site/PageServer?page...ch_researchab4e

I found this: The Federation of American Immigration Reform estimates that in 2007 Texas had 1,740,000 persons living here illegally. This is part of an overall estimate of the U.S. illegal alien population of about 13 million persons. I added that number to the total population and come up with a figure of 6.89% (check my math. It's 4:30 a.m.)

I can't find up-to-date figures for California. I can just find stuff from 2000, which was 8 years ago so I'm not posting on that. Someone else is more than welcome to attempt it. I just googled "percentage of illegal immigrants in California."

Here's an idea, stop giving stuff away free to those who choose to continue to have sex and children.

I think we reward the having of children too much. The point is that if you can't afford to have a child and take care of that child, you shouldn't have had sex and become pregnant. End of story. Yet, this behavior is alright because the government is there to give handouts.

There has to be a consequence for a poor decision. Not saying hurt the kids, by all means if the parents can't provide then CPS should step in until they can.

It reminds me of the child who died in a hot car this past weekend. His parents left him in the car for two hours because "they forgot". The only reason you forget your kid is either you don't really care about him or you're drunk/high.

yea.. had something explained to me today by a chick who seems to be "proud" she's jewing the system.

she has 3 kids. is not married to the father, therefore she claims a massive amount of welfare income. then, she claims Disability. the girl is 21 yers old, claims she has a learning disorder and is already claiming social security.(trust me, the girl isn't stupid, she just managed to fake it real good) because she's unemployeed and a single mother, she automatically qualifies for HUD. so her housing cost is reduced to about $120 a month for a 4 bedroom house. on top of that, she also recieves foodstamps. she drove up in a 2006 firebird with some blinged out wheels, told me that she recieves about 1000 a week in checks....

wtf

Because our tax dollars still pay for it when the baby is born here and is technically considered a legal citizen, therefore giving the mother eligibility to be here.

Oh yeah. I forgot they became a legal citizen when they have a kid in our country.

That's another law that needs to be changed. No automatic citizenship and government benefits just because you shitted out a kid in America. That would solve SO many problems, and it would dissuade dumbfuck illegals from getting knocked up for economic benefit, which I surmise many do for that exact reason. Of course that makes perfect social and economic sense, meaning we'll never see a law such as that passed

I didn't start the thread and make the claims bud. I made no "statement". I simply said we should correlate these numbers to the illegal immigrant rates. That still hasn't been done, so since you're bitching about it and not making any contribution to the thread whatsoever, here:

http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/2006/09/12/USTPstats.pdf on page 12:

it's from 2000 so it will correspond exactly to the data he posted about illegal immigrants:

Top 10 teen pregnancy states, place in illegal immigrants/capita list:
1. Nevada, 4
2. Arizona, 2
3. Mississippi, 41*
4. New Mexico, 14
5. Texas, 3
6. Florida, 15
7. California, 1
8. Georgia, 10
9. North Carolina, 12
10. Arkansas, 28*

So 8 of the top 10 teen pregnancy states are also in the top 15 in illegal immigrants. With the two exceptions being ARKANSAS AND MISSISSIPPI (can you say hillbilly?). If you can't see any correlation whatsoever, you're blind.

Might I also remind yall. Catholics don't believe in rubbers. Mexicans are predominantly Catholic.

Your "statement" was that they needed to be correlated. Then instead of doing it yourself you bitch at other's numbers. Im just saying that if you are going to always be like "someone prove this too me" you should do some of the research yourself; instead of waiting for people to post thier own so you can say how they aren't correct. I see you actually did it now... i commend you, maybe in the future when you say someone's numbers are incorrect (after asking for them) you can put the numbers you are arguing up in your response.

Oh and i agree with you that illegal immigration goes into teen pregancies (partially), but its not the only factor...

But I didn't say anyone's numbers were incorrect. I merely suggested that it could be a possible explanation for the numbers shown. Plus too many people (yes, including some people on here) watch/read the media take everything at face value. I figure by proposing the question it might prod people to read news objectively on their own for once.

well of course. But to what degree is it in comparison to school taught abstinence programs vs illegal immigrant population growth?

I was more reffering to billy's numbers and your "you've done better before" comment. He was trying to show numbers against what you said, and you disagreed obviously, but still you didn't try to show anything for your argument of there BEING a correlation (like in the later post you did make)...

Meh, no worries... its just billy lol

Personally, as with Jessica, I think it has to do with poverty levels more than anything else and their habitual irresponsibility. If the parents are irresponsible people, their children are more likely (not always, but more likely) to be the same. And I think it has little to do with educational programs. I don't think sex education would be effective either. If kids are going to have irresponsible sex, I don't think any kind of abstinence/safe sex education is going to prevent that.

yes, but all democratic politicians are democrats. Since Zach wanted to only kill one republican politician instead of all democratic politicians, which fall under democrats.

All in all, i was more worried about mispelling corrolation than anything else (or any other word for that matter).
