It launches tomorrow.

Use this thread to post comments/criticisms of the new browser. Post what OS you are using too, so we can all know if it runs smoothly or buggy on certain OS's

Seems to work fine in Vista 64 (although I didn't see a specific 64 bit version).

Is Firefox 2 still available for download from Mozilla? I mean, I know I could get the older version from download.com or something if not. I want to download 3, but I don't want to make the system run icky and then my husband get home from work to play on it and it sucks.

i've been using RC1 for some time, i definately like it. all the core features are still there, most things have just been slickafied. most extensions have been updated, and for those that aren't, get the nightly tester tools and force it to use your old extensions, i haven't found any that gave me any problems so far. It's definately faster, i like the minor facelift a lot, and theres definately some new power features that i could see being of use, but for the most part i don't really bother. the smart addy bar is actually pretty cool once you understand how the database works. my favorite change is definately how they changed the password saving prompt, now it pops up with a bar at the top of the page and lets the page continue to load, rather than forcing you to make a decision when to save a password you might not be sure is the right one before continuing on.

mostly it's minor tweaks like that which just make sense. things you could live without, but it's totally more convienient in the new form. if you're expecting something groundbreaking like tabbed browsing was considered, you're out of luck unless you're a developer looking to play under the hood. I'm told the database can do some totally nifty things if you know what to toss at it.

edit: and as far as bugs, i've been using 3.0 since beta 4 and haven't noticed any. at all. never had it crash or anything in the 2 or so months i've been using it.

It does seem faster. I don't like the look of it though, way too "comic book like".

I like it thus far. I think FF 3 is worth it just for the more responsiveness and the fact that it isn't as much of a memory hog.

give the new bar a week, you'll start to like it. showing the title and the url is much more helpful when you're dealing with lots of cryptic dynamic urls, say, from some online shopping site like amazon or something.

It looks wierd but it doesn't take up any more memory or power or anything. just shorten the list a little bit until you get used to it, i promise you'll start to like it.

plllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllease.

Firefox 3 has been A Ok since beta. Enough bitching. Download it. You might try <googling> to help you out with reverting to some older settings (i.e. address bar). I don't know maybe google something like <reverting to old address/location bar in firefox 3> and you MIGHT just get some hits...........

are you on the rag?

And is there a fix for their damn built-in spell check underlining all my contractions? Doesn't matter what the contraction is, it isn't recognizing them. Yes, even the two I just used.

the firefox developers are so presumptuous in making changes like the address bar... making it default and no option in the menu to change it

sure you can download an extension but that just pisses me off, i don't like the developers forcing features they think are "cool" on me

i'm boycotting firefox 3 until there's an option in the menu to revert to the old firefox settings
