Spoiler alert (if you haven't seen Iron Man and don't want the very end spoiled, don't read this thread)

So what's going to happen with these Marvel movies? I was not a comic book person growing up so I don't know all the backstories, but seeing as how the ending of Iron Man alluded to the "Avengers" getting together, I wonder which ones will be included. I looked it up and see that there is a "Thor" movie in the works for 2009, as well as a Wolverine movie, and then of course we have hte new Hulk movie this summer. They also have spider-man that could join in, etc. Looks like they're gearing up for a big "avengers" movie.

Iron Man was pretty awesome imo.
I have no idea who the "Avengers" are, but who are they and how did the end of Iron Man allude to them getting together?

Also, what's the deal with the new Hulk movie? Is it a sequel or just being made again?

did you stay until after the credits were over? That's where the lead-in is for the Avengers movie.

Nick Furry must have had an amazing racial transformation in one of the comic books

Those characters under-go so many changes over the years. I believe Iron Man now has the suit integrated into his body almost completely.

How many Robins has Batman gone through?

They killed off Captain America.

The Avengers are essentially the Justice League of the Marvel Universe.

Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, Wasp.....then various others throughout the comics as well.

The Nick Fury they are using is the "Ultimate" version from the comics, which kicks ass. The "Ultimate" series was grittier and cooler imo.

How is Iron Man a superhero? Isn't he just a wealthy old alcoholic who designed a suit?

Hey, SCREW YOU. mad.gif

j/k

Super-powered suit, so yeah....kind of the same thing as Batman. Wealthy guy with lots of free hours to fight crime.

LOL

And Nick Fury is the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. ...sort of a global protection force.

he is like a super genius with electronics. You have to see the movie to fully grasp it. I think they did a good job of explaining how he is a super hero in the movie... without actually having to spell it out. I am still amazed at how great Robert Downey Jr. looked. There isn't a shred of doubt in my mind that he is off alcohol and drugs. He looked amazing.

Jason has been telling me to post Marvelness on here. I guess he surprised there is not much knowledge of Marvel comics or the future movies.

but he found this.....

in the background is a 'half pieced' Captain America shield......
so you kind of have to assume that is the upcoming movie with The Avengers

I have absolutely no idea why they cast Downey as a drunk homeless billionaire. That seems so far from who he is in real life laugh.gif

I'll explain the ending of Iron Man.

Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is the head agent of an organization called S.H.I.E.L.D. They started it to help organize super heros in local areas. Each state supposed to have its own SHIELD group of super heros.

Now keep in mind there are a million spin offs from this storyline so it can get extremely confusing.

I think they'll try to keep it simplified and just show us the beginning of the original Avengers (Iron Man's group).
