Though I really doubt that either one of these measures will stop the coming recession, I think the democrats are on a better track than the president is (big surprise I know!). That is to say, giving the economy a quick shot in the arm isn't going to be much more than a stop gap. I think the best way to deal with this is to take measures to soften the blow rather than try to prevent it. -------------------- Holy shit, pebkac, you're awesome! the only thing that will stop the coming recession is a massive social reprogramming of the american public to stop expecting the fucking government to fix all their problems.

Recessions happen. It's part of the economic cycle. A good chunk of my tax refund will be going towards purchasing some stocks when things seem to have 'bottomed out.'

The article is misleading as it hints that the Democrats do not want any business incentives or tax cuts (which they do). Again, I find this hilarious as they were the ones so adamantly against Bush's original tax cuts.
$800 per person who makes under $80k a year is going to stimulate the economy? In the words of Lewis Black, "yeah, if it were 19 fifty-freaking 6" -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

So does everybody get it or just the ones who pay taxes? Well they were saying both democrats and republicans were working towards tax cuts not just out of income (which obviously poor don't pay), but also out of payroll and social security taxes. So they are they trying to structure it for the poor to actually get something too. But thats from the 10 minutes of news i seen today. -------------------- |

Nothing will stop the great collapse... It is coming. -------------------- A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?
