Random traffic/at fault question Options

So earlier today I was driving back to work... I had to make a left turn, so I got in the center lane and put on my turn signal. Traffic coming the other way so I couldn't go yet. Little bit afterwards, someone coming the opposite direction also has to make a turn, so she gets in the center lane as well and puts on her signal. I'm scooched forward a bit, so she can't make her turn yet either (plus there was traffic coming, blocking her).

Just as traffic clears in the opposite direction and I move to make my turn, she decides she doesn't want to turn after all and moves back into her original lane, heading towards me.

Now we didn't come close to hitting or anything, but if we had, who would be at fault? I started to turn before she made her lane change (plus I don't think she signaled for that), so would she have been at fault?

Seriously, it would be at the discretion of the officer. Technically, you were in the right if you started your turn before she pulled out. Dumb bitch wasn't paying attention and would be legally at fault. But since it's your word against hers (unless there were witnesses), it would probably come down to who has the bigger tits walking away sans ticket.

Personally, if I were the officer, both of you would be getting tickets for being women drivers. That's probably why I'd be lousy in law enforcement

I'm not really sure. I think the fact that the middle lane is not an acceleration lane may make her at fault, but then again, left turning traffic must yield to oncoming traffic.

In a sense you both had the same right of way seeing as how you're both sitting in the turn lane, but since you were moving first I'd say it'd be her fault (usually pretty easy to tell by the wreck damage who hit who).

sometimes I think Im a guy because I too hate female drivers... and I hate when women drive trucks (even though i do) because most of the time they dont know how to park the damn thing or change lanes. Ive been driving since I was 16 and never once been in an accident

It depends where the car hit. since you are turning parallel to the flow of legal traffic, it would probably end up your fault. If she hits your rear end with her side, then it would be her fault.

if you're both in a suicide lane and one decide to go back with traffic instead of turn, i'd fault that person since they didn't properly use the road and lose their right of way thus giving the right of way to the other driver properly using the road

thus why changing lanes in an intersection is illegal.... the roads have lanes and signs for a reason

i live in san antonio... i have yet to go a day without seeing the person going 25 in a 40 and makes a left hand turn across 4 lanes from the right lane AT THE LIGHT. Yeah, San antonio has THE worst in city drivers....

Highway they aren't horrible though.... still not great, but not horrible like austin (biggest idiot drivers this side of california).

Yeah, luckily I hit I-10 from the north side of 610 and go east. basically i work over at the 290 & bingle area, and live in deer park. pretty insane drive, but it's not bad because i'm going the opposite direction of the mega traffic.

im inside 610, anytime i need to go out west on i10 i just roll on memorial as far as i can then pop onto anything else.

so far i havnt had to go out too far that way, so memorial does the trick.

Memorial is fantastic as soon as you get to where it's four lanes with a center divider. Once they fix I-10 the sheer volume of traffic on Westpark should die down. I've actually found it's easier to take Westpark to 59 north to my downtown or near downtown destinations rather than braving 10.

Yeap, works pretty good too. the 610W south to I-10 leg is really the only slow part. Otherwise I'm always going opposite of the bad traffic (i.e. heading west on 290 in the morning, east in the evening, etc). Usually only takes me about 35-40 mins at most in the mornings, and before the time switch 35-40 mins going home (for some damn reason people drive slower in the dark).

I'm tryin to decide where to buy a house, and yeah 290 is out of the question. It seems pretty much every suburb is going to be about the same travel time for me so I'll prob just stick around the SE side.

I got the information from a cop as well. Leave it to law enforcement to not know the law

also you can't be sitting at a light wanting to turn left and then decide oh whoops i should go straight...that's illegal as well
