I knew I should have bet that they wouldn't cover the spread.

UT has an even weaker defense this year than last year, and their offense is a hype machine. Granted they are down pittman for 3 games. Colt McCoy is a badass but....two interceptions last night ? I don't know if they were wacky tipped flukes or not - I didn't get the game televised here....but that is NOT a way to start off a season when you are ranked "#4"

Put your money on TCU next week. UT's running game has yet to truly prove it is back to the power position it has been before, their offensive line has some youth, McCoy should be doing much better than that, their defensive ends were lost to the draft and their already-horrible secondary now has even younger talent.

Count em, 3 L's or more this season for them.

OU still needs to prove themselves against a stronger opponent, but even against fuckin UNT....that QB put up some very scary stats. My Big 12 South pick has been A&M but if OU keeps it up they are going to roll over everybody. Stay tuned kids.


My picks for this first week were :
Cal -6 over Tennessee
West Virginia -23 over Western Michigan
Wisconsin -14 over Washington St.
LSU -18 over Mississippi St.
TTU -8 over SMU


So far 4/5 of my picks have been solid, and its only a matter of time until Tech makes me 5/5 for the week.


I hope NOBODY was shocked by the Georgia Tech game. Notre Dame fucking sucked last year, and they had star players. Why would anybody expect them to be halfway decent this year ?


I hoped Oklahoma St. would pull off the Georgia upset but they just couldn't get it going. Had they stopped playing small ball and went for some homerun deep passes, maybe things coudl have been shifted, but nooOooOoo

Texas has no business being 4th in the country.

I've never seen a team play less motivated football in my life. Haven't seen a Texas team with this little talent since the late 90's.

They started out great, typical UT drive with a bunch of 8 yard passes and runs, with a 40 yard strike to a wide open Sweed for a TD. After that, things kind of went to shit. McCoy started out great - 8 for 8 with pinpoint accuracy. I mean, there was one throw on a slant to Jones with two DB's covering him where he had a 5 inch by 5 inch window to thread the ball through, and he did perfectly. He threw a really dumb pick in the second quarter and things just went downhill. Then, at the end of the first half, he threw possibly the worst pass I've ever seen. He was trying to throw the ball out of bounds and didn't quite throw it far enough. The ASU corner got the easiest pick of his life.

Running game was subpar as usual. I'm no offensive coordinator like the great Greg Davis, but it seems if you have an inexperienced offensive line, don't fucking run that shotgun/delayed handoff running play every time because the O line will collapse and Charles will get smacked for a 5 yard loss. That happened several times. I don't know whether I dislike Charles or I dislike their offensive system....probably a combination of both. He was only mildly affective out of the I.

Defense is lousy. Typical Texas defense. They'll knock the living shit out of you, but only after you've gained 9 yards running right through the D line. The secondary is an absolute mess. Having team speed only works if you know where the fuck to run on the field, which apparently their secondary has no clue. Way too many botched coverages and wide open receivers. On the plus side, on the off chance that a running back doesn't run right past the defensive line, they're gonna stuff the shit out of him for a 6 yard loss.

I'll chalk a bit of the lackluster performance up to not having Pittman and Shipley. Several dropped balls and poorly run routes. Other than that, they got outgained, outplayed, outcoached, and it took recovering an onside kick with under a minute left to seal a victory that should have been a blowout. If they don't get their shit together pronto, they're gonna get their ass handed to em by TCU

How bout the K. State Auburn Game? K. State almost had them, but then fell apart in the last 3 min of the game for the more expierenced Auburn team to finally win it.

I don't know, ask Greg Davis. I've stopped trying to figure out his intentions with the offense.

My best guess would be that their receiving corps sucked and wasn't capable of running their routes, so McCoy had to improvise. Not the smartest thing diving head first though, especially after the KSU disaster last year

with Michigan dropping out for obvious reasons, and VT dropping out because they're overrated as all hell. OU should be a top 5 team. Texas shouldn't. Cal should move up based on their easy win against Tennessee.

By the way, Tech/SMU fucked up my otherwise perfect gambling weekend. I got the o/u at 58, and of course their total was 58. Only ended up losing $5 on a $50 bet but it still pissed me off. Nothing like making $455 for basically doing nothing.
