don't think crooksandliars.com is biased?

a couple things...

1. how does the lack of showing the person's party mean the network is biased? if CNN does show it, does that mean they're biased? that's f'n stupid.

2.
QUOTE
As Media Matters points out, on August 27th, between 5:00pm and 11:00pm, FOXNews devoted just 3:47 seconds to the Larry Craig scandal as opposed to 8:26 from MSNBC and 20:38 from CNN

so how is this instantly "FOXNews is biased" and not "CNN is biased for spending so much time on it"??

i guess if you think weak, and easily overlooked mis-types or non-types are bias... I've seen worse "bias" towards leaning left on other networks... but you don't see me bitching about how they pitch thier news.

Convenient that they don't link the article. These all explicitly state that Craig is a Republican:

http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Aug29/0,4...eyCraig,00.html

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,294939,00.html
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,294852,00.html

And these give enough information to infer that he's Republican:

Both of you totally overlooked the part where Fox News switches the "R" symbol to a "D" when the Republicans get in trouble.

Fox news was blasted for that, so instead of switching the party they just plain don't report it.

Also, if you don't think that Craig article was written to influence you to think a certain way then you probably think that the following is a good unbiased polling question:

I was totally gonna post pretty much exactly what lance just said:

They will actually change party affiliations when one of their own gets in trouble.

And seriously? You guys seriously don't think fox is biased?

I mean, come the fuck on. I'm not saying CnL isn't biased as well (they're quite liberal) but shit, Fox is outright right.

edit: And impala, you're selectively dissecting posts again, just like fox news. I love how you skip the parts that lance points out because they don't support your argument. Color me not surprised.

I don't watch/read Fox News enough to know for sure that it's biased, but I suspect that it is. But I'm wary of trusting obviously biased sources (in this case, crooksandliars.com) in their criticism of other entities. *shrugs* And, as I pointed out, there were plenty of articles on Fox News that clearly identified Craig as a Republican.

Yeah, you really do have to take CnL with a (big) grain of salt, but every now and then they point out something that's pretty hard to refute. It's the same way with Fox News though.

wow we're down to comparing fox news to fucking crooks and liars.com.

i didnt "ignore" the R&D switch crap, that's old ass news that they're reposting. the "new" news is that they simply didn't include his party. despite the fact that christine shows you seven different links where they DO include his party, you guys still come up with these completely dumb ass conspiracy theories.

wtf do you think is going on? some GOP pres candidate is paying off fox news to subtley change a D to an R every now and then, so they'll win the f'n presidency? my God and you dipshits have the gall to call everyone else 'uneducated'

When I looked yesterday they had a giant picture of him next to the story on Foxnews' homepage and had the police report posted also. I don't remember if it specifically said he was a Republican, but it was the first article I read about the incident and I knew he was a Rep. after that, so I assume it did.

They have the pretty pictures on that CnL link that shows that those two guys are Dems, but I don't know if the corresponding audio mentions them being Dems or Reps. Could just be a graphic mistake by some moron PA, we all know that happens in TV.

Christine posted enough links to show that Foxnews isn't trying to hide the fact that he's a Republican. And Foxnews is "biased" because they spent 4 and a half minutes less time on the story than MSNBC in a 6 hour block?! Wouldn't it be just as easy to claim that CNN is biased against Republicans because they spent over twice as much time on it as MSNBC?

Who the #$(% cares if they're biased or not. You don't have to watch them, you can watch your own biased CNN or MSNBC. Just because it's your personal preference does not make it any less biased (no matter what Crooks and Liars says)

On the other hand, do you honestly believe it was a mistake to label Mark Foley a Democrat?

Either way, this article does seem to be a bunch of liberal bias (although I do agree that Fox News is biased)

You make it sound like some grand scheme... Someone at fox news probably thought they'd make the Democrats look bad and "accidentally" put the wrong party affiliation. I mean, I guarantee you the first thing on any news agency's mind when something like this comes up is "what party was he with?"

ok.. so lets just say this was intentional (which i seriously doubt). if fox news is soooo terribly biased, are you telling me that all the democrats watching (all 5 of em) will see the "D" and go "OMG ITS A "D" NEXT TO HIS NAME I"M SWITCHING PARTIES!!"?

every news channel is biased, it is impossible to have an unbiased channel, regardless how you try. If you go into reporting, you have a fairly good knowledge of whats going on in the world, and you are going to have an opinion on things...regardless how you try to not portray it on the news, it will come out. You are more likely to tell more stories that appeal to you, and try to avoid ones that you do not like...its just how its going to be.

Fox news does it, CNN does it, fucking Al Jazeera does it....everyone in this thread knows they all lean one way or another, its not fucking news to anyone, and who the fuck cares if they are biased. I know fox news is pro-republican, and CNN leans towards the liberal area, and that is why i dont watch Fox as much as i do CNN, but then again i rather just read BBC due to it seeming like it covers more important issues.

I dont give a fuck if a senator is gay, i dont give a shit if he is a republican or a democrat, fuckin shit go make a huge fucking deal about that...there are more important shit going on in the world than OMG he tapped my foot which means hes a fag and he wants to bone me.

you know what the difference here is. the losers at places like this pathetic, insignificant site crooksandliars sit there watching foxnews all day hoping to nitpick some pathetic, non-news, nitpicky, who gives a shit story off of there. and for that site there's probably 30 more that are even more pathetic (all of which are no doubt in lance's bookmarks). not to mention the people who no doubt hover at those sites pressing F5 all day hoping to see some little tidbit they can go to their republican friends with and go "SEEEE OMGZ YOU SUCK"

Funny how the person who calls everyone morons/idiots/etc. can't read correctly. I didn't say it wasn't biased, i said it was completely stupid that something this small was blown out of proportion when i see worse bias from other news.

Everything is bias... opinions seep into what people do, how shocking. Tell me Fox is anymore bias than Lou Dobbs is and I'll cry from laughing at how pathetic you sound.

But then again, conspiracies are better than reading comprehension... sadly.

Them being gay just makes it a delicious case of hypocrisy (usually), not grounds for resignation. What makes it grounds for resignation is when they're doing illegal or abusive things like soliciting prostitutes or congressional pages.

Oh by the way, will someone explain what the fuck is going on... its not on BBC (that i've seen) so i haven't read it.

I've heard some senator tapped his foot in a restroom (and possibly made a hand motion).

If thats true (no matter why he was actually there... gay or not), im not sure how that is considered solicitation. Seems like even with postitution you have to work out a monetary negotiation before it is considered solicitation. Which further boggles my mind on the fact that someone told me he pleaded guilty to the charge....

God i hate democrats and republicans.

He apparently acted in a way consistent with solicitation for "lewd activities", according to the undercover police officer on duty and was subsequently arrested. He plead guilty to a charge of "disorderly conduct" in the hopes that that would make it all go away. He has denied that he conducted himself in an inappropriate manner and, as of the latest I've heard, is claiming entrapment, apparently not realizing that a claim of entrapment would be contrary to his claim that he did nothing inappropriate.

Overall he's coming off as either an idiot or a bad liar (or both). *sigh* It's getting a bit old, really.

Ok, heres a condensation and why it's such a big deal....

Larry Craig (R - Idaho) was arrested back in June for "soliciting sex" in a Minneapolis airport restroom from an undercover cop. Apparently he did all the right things that one does when looking for casual sex....the foot tapping, the trying to brush the cop's feet under the stall wall, the rubbing of his hand under the stall wall. He then tried to deny that was his intent, and even yanked out a business card and was like, "what do you think of THAT?" (trying to get the cop to blow it off).
These cops KNOW the signals...hence why the cop was asking him during the interrogation if Craig remembered if his palm was up or down.....palm up is usually a signal for, "lets get it on" or "go ahead and stick it under the partition"

The reason why gay advocates are going OFF on this topic is because Craig has a VERY long track record of anti-gay legislation and voting, etc. Also, back in 1982 he self-incriminated himself in the page scandal by saying he didn't have sex with any of the 17 year old pages (before ANYONE had been named). Also, a year ago an internet blogger accused him of being gay and said he had SEVERAL accounts from men who had had sex with Craig in public restrooms. SO, thats why there's a big ole stink...cus the man is a HUGE hypocrite, and keeps denying he's gay.

He may not be gay, but he sure does have gay sex!

And I made the comment about MSNBC and Tucker Carlson because he made a comment on air about someone making a pass at him in a restroom and he and a friend went back and beat up the guy...basically condoning gay bashing. And MSNBC didnt take any action on it.

Now, most of the folks who solicit sex in that way are STRAIGHT men. Some gay men do do it, merely for the thrill of anonymous sex, but the majority are straight men. All those signals that Craig did have been in use for YEARS....maybe back to the 70's. So, that means he is well-schooled in the art of bathroom sex. It's almost like the hanky codes.

Any questions?

EDIT: What's funny is how an AWFUL LOT of those calling for his resignation are REPUBLICANS. Maybe those guys need to make sure their shit is spotless before going and preaching morals to the entire country.

I have to disagree ...maybe not PUBLICLY they arent, but a major reason they're asking him to resign is because hes a queer...get rid of the queer! NO WAY can a party so aligned with anti-gay policy keep a senator who is involved in GAY SEX.

That and Idaho is such a red state, they can replace him easily.

Look at David Vitter...he was involved in sex crimes also, and they didn't demand his resignation.

Also, what's funny is that he is the one accusing himself of being gay. In ALL of the recordings of him, whats something he says? "I am not gay." He constantly says it, unprovoked. They weren't saying he was gay, they were saying, "You've been soliciting sex in public"

well you have to admit, there's not a lot of room for gay republican politicians, considering the vast majority of their voters feel that it's wrong.

the radio talk show guy down here keeps using that sound byte and its pretty funny.

Oh, on Sirius OutQ they remixed the press release to where he's coming out of the closet and saying hes gay and loves gay Idahoans. It's great.

I think it would be such a slap in the face (to the Republican party) for the gay community to SUPPORT Craig. It would be like, instead of being vindictive like they are being (Repubs) the gays would be exhibiting REAL Christian values LOL

What i am confused about is what the crime was.

18-2001. DEFINITION OF SOLICITATION. A person is guilty of criminal
solicitation to commit a crime if with the purpose of promoting or
facilitating its commission he solicits, importunes, commands, encourages or
requests another person to engage in specific conduct which would constitute
such crime or an attempt to commit such crime
or which would establish
complicity in its commission or attempted commission.

Do they have sex IN the airport restroom? If not, it seems like anyone going to a bar and picking someone up for sex.

If the republicans wanted him gone for being gay they could have done it sometime in the past 25 years. He's been accused by the media of homosexual activity since 1982. So if it's because he's gay, why haven't they pushed him out the door already? That's also the reason he's denying being gay in press conferences, because he's been accused of it several times over there years. Wikipedia is your friend.

I won't deny that there are probably a lot of Republicans that don't like him being gay, but I think the universal reason they're pushing him out is because it's embarrassing when a prominent member of your party is caught soliciting sex in a public restroom, whether it's gay or straight sex.

I believe he plead guilty to disorderly conduct or some other misdemeanor (not solicitation).

Yes, the actual sex normally goes down IN the bathroom....often they will just stick their dicks under the stall divider. Some bathrooms have devised glory holes in place of that. Sometimes I guess one may go into the other's stall,,,

but the officer apparently said that Craig placed his suitcase in front of the stall door in a strategic way that is used to block the view from the outside.

That's the thing...for years it was all SUSPECT....it was only rumors....now the Republicans finally had something SOLID regarding his sexuality.

Really I don't see what the big deal is even if it is illegal. Congressmen have been convicted of worse things and not resigned. Embarrassing? Maybe. Does it affect his job? No.
