Running from and harrassing a cop arresting someone... and expecting different results?
Are skateboarding laws stupid... debateable. But if the cop was legally stopping someone for violating the law, the rest seemed fine to me (considering how the kids acted). -------------------- |

The guy in the white t-shirt? You get up in a cops face like that when they're trying to make an arrest (warranted or not), you're asking to get arrested yourself.

Punk kids vs. idiot cop- cop has right of way. They're both morons, but the cop didn't do anything wrong per se because of the idiotic actions of the kids. Brandon listed all the shit they done. the city bike cop was on a power trip. does skateboarding warrant being arrested for it? no. could he have yelled and ran them off like most any other security officer would do? yes. if its at that point that the teens cursed at him it comes with the territory. if you think everyone who curses at a cop is arrested youre retarded.

wow. just wow.
police officers need to realize that there are other ways to resolve a situation other than violence, mace, tazers, guns drawn, etc. speaking to a person like they're a human being with rights doesn't seem too far fetched. this situation didn't even seem like it was something that needed resolving in the first place. by the way the uncut versions can be found by clicking the guys username. there are 2 more. nothing any different though. -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

cops are supposed to be good at their jobs. they have to do this so they dont have to run around killing/maiming everyone they come into contact with. there comes a point pretty fast in that video when the cop is the one stirring trouble and the kids react to it. of course they do they are children. cop shouldnt have done it -------------------- Little monkeys making money

(i never claimed to be clean) but when words and warnings fail, maybe losing a skateboaurd and having to buy one every week will be incentive enough to stay the fuck away from where you aren't supposed to be. and it actually worked. -------------------- |

As a skater, it bothers me when we get a bad name because of moronic kids who pay no attention to laws. Was the cop excessive? Sure. But the kids were more than likely knowingly breaking the law. There are tons of "No Skateboarding" signs posted where skating isn't allowed.
I've skated one pool recently with the permission of my friend's parents. They were getting it retiled so it didn't matter if I fucked anything up. I would never sneak into an empty pool and skate it. Also, I don't skate where there are a lot of people and there are signs posted. Plenty of other places to skate legally. Kids skating downtown where there are a bunch of stip shops and people walking around is quite reckless -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

its not that big of a deal considering this type of stuff goes on everyday. plenty of police officers will be excessive, plenty abuse their rights against women and minorities. that is nearly just fact in some places. (though not saying all police officers everywhere or that it cant be changing)
the cop should have run them off so when they ran off they would be leaving. goal accomplished without choking two young kids -------------------- Little monkeys making money

It was actually national Go Skate day. The correct solution to the problem would've been for the kids to truck slap the officer into a coma.

cops have to pick their battles. he was making the situation worse and they would have just left if he had told them to some did. its when he started grabbing people that they were like wtf. if you skate everyday or even somewhat often you know what to expect and you expect to get ran off by policemen.
that cop was feeding the situation. he could have let them run off laughing whatever they were leaving. better than him making the situation so crazy he has to shoot a 15yr old girl - testm0 -------------------- death to false dudes

cops constantly pick their battles. do they constantly arrest people for jaywalking? domestic "abuse" calls, loud disturbances? cops are used to talk and calm down situations just as much as carting people off to prison
im scared for the public brandon being a pseudo law enforcement officer brandon - you wouldnt have a qualm with this if it ended up with one of the kids dead? because they were skateboarding? youd be one of the few if you run through all your levels of enforcement so quickly that you are using force - 1. you are aggrivating a situation that is barely a "crime" more of an ordinance 2. what options left do you have? you are just making things escalate -testm0 -------------------- death to false dudes

QUOTE you wouldnt have a qualm with this if it ended up with one of the kids dead? because they were skateboarding? this is an unfair comparison. it's alot like me saying "so we should just let these kids run wild and rape people"QUOTE you are aggrivating a situation that is barely a "crime" a crime is still a crime, sugartits. leniancy only leads to the law being pushed back further and further. eventually a law is useless because the behavior it protected against is so acceptable. here's something to chew on (off topic) did you know that beating and abusing a dog is a $5,000 bond? but beating your wife is only $1,500? beating your wife is a MUCH more common charge also.... heh you can always give more liberty, but you can rarely take it back without force. there cannot be compromise. -------------------- |

my sister got 1 ticket for jaywalking the ninethousand millions times shes been scolded for it by a cop. maybe its because you live in lubbock and these kids were in arkansas Err...that's not exactly legal either he meant to add football plenty of police officers let people off, scare people off, tell people to disperse. you dont have to arrest everyone you come into contact with and thats not even doing your job as a police officer. brandon you dont technically arrest anyone. you are picking up people for warrants and court correct? then you arent arresting them for jaywalking and dont know the circumstances around their prior arrests do you know how many videos of kids skateboarding there is? do you know how many have contact with a cop? very few of them end in arrests especially choking out a kid. they are teens of course they are going to be inconsiderate. cops cant handle the situation like that every time otherwise they are going to be constantly choking kids if it was a real cop ie not one in bike shorts and a polo who had to wait for a patrol car to come, the situation would have been totally different. they would have been told to just leave at most threaten arrest. that bike cop/security officer did all that crazy shit for something the kids would have been/will be automatically released for. if you arent aware skating on a public street is not a felony nor do you get 9years in prison for. thats why most cops who actually have stuff to do dont bother with it because all it ends up being is paperwork' search the kids name and the ark springs paper - the cop was put on administrative leave there was another cop there who didnt do anything. obviously that cop thought that one cop was a crazy. obviously it wasnt a big deal. brandon your solution to everything is to destroy it. hugely dangerous for a police officer what would ahve happened if after that girl was in a choke by the cop she pushed him? step up from that what hed pull his gun? its obvious this thing was very wrong from the start if i was that girl i would have been scared and fought to. you already saw this cop choke your young friend and hes on a power trip. i wouldnt want to end up like rodney king -------------------- Little monkeys making money

QUOTE if i was that girl i would have been scared and fought to. you already saw this cop choke your young friend and hes on a power trip. i wouldnt want to end up like rodney king if the dumb cunts hadn't resisted in the first place, the whole thing never would have happened.

and on another post you made earlier about the excessive violence on minorities. fuck them. those people need to be beaten more. the more dumb shit i see these people doing while working, the more i actually think white people should truelly be the master race. ... I just don't know if you're joking anymore when it comes to the racism stuff. I hope you are, but I just really don't know anymore. Anyways, on topic: The kids were dicks, but the cop seemed to respond more out of anger/frustration than out of any sense of duty or respect for that ordinance. The force was excessive. -------------------- |

brandon your belief in that every police officer should end up choking everyone they come into contact with destroys any good point you thought you may have had.

Cop is cleared. He didn't use anything more than "control techniques and handcuffing."
QUOTE Cop Cleared of Wrongdoing in Skateboarder Choking Incident
Tuesday, July 03, 2007 E-MAIL STORY PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION HOT SPRINGS, Ark.  A police officer who appeared to choke a skateboarder in a video posted online has been cleared of any wrongdoing by an internal review board. The Hot Springs Police Department Internal Affairs Board found the use of force was within the police department's policy on non-deadly force and recommended "no changes to this policy." The decision was released Monday. Officer Joey Williams stopped a group of skateboarders June 21 on a downtown city sidewalk. Skateboarding is banned in the area. The video shows Williams apparently choking one of the skateboarders after forcing him to the ground, then later chasing and wrestling two others while holding them in a headlock. "This was a minimal force issue," Police Chief Bobby Southard told The Sentinel-Record. "He didn't resort to anything above hand control techniques and handcuffing." Southard said Williams, who had been put on administrative leave, will return to bike patrol downtown Thursday. Six skateboarders  two adults and four juveniles  have court dates pending. -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?
