It's not really THAT much of a big drunken orgy. Yeah, I will agree that the political aspect has declined A LOT....but Pride is kinda meant to be a celebration of the struggle since the Stonewall riots in NYC. as i said before, i will agree that the original intent has deviated in method, but i know that it does achieve some of it. The parade often helps raise awareness and funds for the political groups like Human Rights Campaign, Lambda Legal, SLDN (Servicemembers Legal Defense Network). Also, not to mention that the parade drums up A LOT of money for local businesses. A majority of the cars/floats in Houston's parade were things like politicians, churches, etc.
