Thread for pro baseball, be it minors or majors
And Will, this guy you posted (http://www.calleaguers.com/WoodBrandon05.html) has a sweet swing I'm looking to see what Matt Murton can do for the Cubs for the whole year. He played some games last year and lit up the place. No matter where he's gone, he hits. He's also shown a lot of patience at the plate, a lot more than I'd figure. Eric,
i think the first game actually comes on at 1 am. two Oriental teams. this throws a wrench into my plan. jessica is out of town, i was gonna order a pizza and sit down with a 12 pack of tequiza and watch some beisbol. of course, espn isnt showing it live cause of fucking BASKETBALL i don't know much about Murton. wasn't he with the Red Sox at one point? Mark Pawelek and Felix Pie will be badasses. -------------------- only here to talk sports occationally

You're right about the time, the schedule says 1:30 ET, but the TV schedule is 2 ET
Murton was with Boston, he came with the Nomar deal Pie has been looking good but didn't do so well this winter. He missed a lot of last year because of injury so he probably won't play in the majors until at least the end of this year. |

The USA's chances of winning the WBC are looking better, the D.Republic are going without Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, and Vladimir Guerrero

I haven't gotten to see him play, but everything I've read says he's going to be ARod-ish i don't know. this is the year of the stud little bro though. andy laroche, stephen drew, and upton. they should be better than adam, jd, and bj. a's should be good this year. i like the acquisition of Bradley, and i think Big Frank for half a mil was a steal. pitching looks good, as long as they can come up with some offense they should be fine. they have a couple of badasses waiting in the wings in Daric Barton, Kevin Melillo, and Javier Herrera. they better start out strong. im getting tired of these second half comebacks. reading Moneyball a few months back reignited my interest in the a's i've seen a few of Braun's prospect videos and i've read a ton about him on ba and milb.com. he seems like a stud. i dunno about the next arod though, if anything that title is reserved for Upton speaking of which, everyone should watch the White Sox/DBacks game this afternoon at 1 on wgn. i can't stress how hyped Justin Upton is about to become. he signed late last year and this is his first pro experience. instead of starting out in rookie ball or low A, hes getting thrown to the wolves in major league spring training as a 19 year old. so far he's 2-3 with a 2 run double and a 2 run triple. let the hype machine begin. he'll be the most highly touted prospect since arod -------------------- only here to talk sports occationally

Tavarez, Gathright ejected in BoSox-Rays brawl
anybody know where a video of this is? I saw a clip on TV. Too bad there probably won't be any payback, Tavarez deserves to get his ass beat. This post has been edited by moebary: Mar 28 2006, 04:46 PM |

so the rangers got raped, but it was a good game
there was a flyover during the national anthem, which was cool. also, people kept giving me their free beer tickets, so i got trashed and slightly sunburned. |

I don't think this will happen, but there are trade rumors about the Marlins getting rid of Willis and Cabrera. Wouldn't that pretty much make them a minor league team roster-wise?
