Using the "What the world eats" thread as a basis, what do you eat normally in a week? What does your diet contain?

Well, my diet used to be shit...literally up until a couple of weeks ago. I wondered (ignorantly...) why I had plateaued in my training and remained stagnant at a little over 180lbs.
I tried that stupid Sacred Heart mega calorie restriction diet to cut weight for my fight this Saturday, and it made me weak as a kitten on day 3 (a couple Mondays ago). I have since switched to a SMART athlete's diet, as in I eat 5-6 smaller meals a day and take in about 1,800 calories (with lots of good protein). In 2 weeks I've lost 7 pounds (at 175 now...hopefully I'll shed 2-3 more by Saturday) and feel in the best shape of my life. ::EDIT:: And you know what's a good way to eat healthy? Write every single thing you eat/drink down. It seriously makes you consider how good/bad you eat on a regular basis. when i was in training i kept a meal log it does make you subconsciously eat really well. i never thought oh i shouldnt eat that or this but i just started to. works well
1/2 noninstant oatmeal cooked in 1c of skim milk with 2 equal packets and a banana chopped up in it every morning. with some crystal light or juice or more milk to wash it down sandwich at lunch. ham or turkey a little light mayo, mustard, greens and tomato on 100 hull wheat nut. sometimes i have cheese in it. with some prezels or chips and milk, crystal light to wash it down dinner hugely varies. i will go out to eat and eat too much but not really bad stuff or ill make a pasta, fish or meat. or just fish sticks and mac n cheese! thats all i eat in a day. i try on occasion to eat more than 3 meals a day or break the food into lesser meals just more frequently but i havent been able to stick with that in recent years. though when i did do it nearly religiously i think i did lose weight but more importantly my stomach felt a lot better when id do my workouts what im trying to work on is to drink something more than 3x a day and not replace liquids with soda as much. diet soda of course not diet sodas and pure sugar rip me apart like saturated fats and hamburgers -------------------- Little monkeys making money

M-F
breakfast: one of two things typically, either a breakfast bar and water, or 2 kolaches and a dr. pepper (from Mornings Kolaches). lunch: lately, every day is restaurant, but slowly getting back to bringing bring lunch: sandwich (100% whole wheat bread + lean ham + provolone cheese), small baggie of chips, fruit cup. restaurant: quiznos, subway, whataburger, sonic, fuddruckers, chilis, bennigans, bravos (local messican food), crazy cajun (local seafood, and actually very healthy as I love their grilled fish) dinner: usually 3-4 at home, 1-2 restaurant home meals: spaghetti, a really good lil taco stew recipe, plain ol sandwich, casserole + veggies, or leftovers from previous restaurant meals, etc. restaurants: tx roadhouse, gringo's (local houston place, and one in SA I think), antonios (local italian place), sometimes pizza hut. weekends breakfast: sleep lunch: early lunch, usually leftovers from friday night's restaurant dinner dinner: either saturday or sunday is eat out (usually from the M-F list) and the other is eat the leftovers from other night out, or a home meal from the M-F list. other I go to a decent amount of astros games, races, out w/friends, and of course drink beer (non-light, usually bud or dos equis) and eat several high calorie snacks we also tend to snack at home while watching movies and stuff, chips & dip kinda stuff. sometimes bbq, which is usually free reign to chow down as well once I get my ... condition ... finished off with a final surgery here in a week or so I'll be gettin back to lifting and working out, which for me will alter my diet all by itself. as when I get on a good workout regimen, I don't want any of the bad foods. so hopefully within a month i'll be posting something a little different |

And you know what's a good way to eat healthy? Write every single thing you eat/drink down. It seriously makes you consider how good/bad you eat on a regular basis. totally agreed. especially if you go back and total up calories and other nutrition info. another good idea is (if you're like me and use a check card and never use cash) go through your monthly bank statement as a spreadsheet and total up how much you spent on going out. |

Yeah, this really surprised me too. Spent way too much on fast for for a couple of months near the end of last semester. Made me not want to eat out as much and just more food myself. -------------------- |

Breakfast gets toast and oatmeal and raisins (these are totally necessary as plain oatmeal is fucking NASTY!)
Lunch gets fruit and salad with either chicken (in the salad, of course) and pb sandwich or spaghetti and meat sauce. I use ranch dressing just because it's all I've used for the past 10+ years and don't feel like experimenting with others again to find out I still don't like them. Dinner gets fruit and nuts, preferrably almonds. They taste the best, but whatever is available for the season. Once a week, I go eat my American Chinese food, General Tso's Chicken with steamed rice and a side of hot and sour soup. MMmmmmm. Drink only water, usually half a gallon a day, but that might go up to a gallon as it gets hotter. And after feeling tired and blah after lunch, I'm not eating the General Tso's again. Every other day I'm wide awake and such, but that stuff makes me sleepy every damn time. Pity, too. It tastes really good. Especially when they make it extra extra spicy. I also take a multivitamin and a 1g vitamin c everyday. Just in case I'm missing out on something, which I think I might be a couple of things. Worst-case, I shit out those two vitamins the next day, but they're not that expensive. -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?

Some of the most common things I eat, by meal, in order (under each category) from most to least often consumed.
Breakfast ~ Shake w/ almond or cashew milk, banana, and either greens or more fruit ~ Orange juice and fruit ~ [Weekends] Wheat pancakes w/ real maple syrup and tons of fresh fruit (usually strawberries and something else). Lunch ~ Large salad. Usually contains greens, cucumber, tomato, red bell pepper, carrot, and dressing. Sometimes has turkey bacon and hard boiled egg. ~ Leftovers from dinner (see below) ~ Sandwiches (usually avocado, tomato, sprouts, and light miracle whip) and fruit. Dinner ~ Homemade guacamole (avo, onion, tomato, jalapeno, cilantro, garlic) w/ chips and organic salsa. ~ Sushi: vegetarian, California roll, sweet omelet, grilled eel, other varieties (all homemade) ~ Pasta (I'm getting into having whole wheat pasta) with sauteed veggies and sauce, sometimes meat; usually with salad on the side. ~ Vietnamese-style spring rolls: rice paper, lettuce, rice vermicelli, cucumber, cabbage, bean sprouts, carrot, herbs; served with sweet chili sauce or peanut sauce. As far as beverages are concerned, I drink mostly water (easily upwards of 64 oz/day). I also drink green tea chai latte (made with soy milk) and orange juice. I very rarely have soda, coffee, or alcohol. -------------------- |

breakfast: cereal, and more recently some fruit and coffee
lunch: usually crap like fast food, but usaa has a ton of healthy stuff in their cafeterias, so i'm sure this will become the norm dinner: rotation between cereal, sandwiches, home cooked meals, and fast food i hope that those who mentioned kolaches were referring to these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolache and not the nasty hotdog/roll things down here |

Breakfast:
Food Egg/toast Kolache Bagel Drink Orange Juice Cranberry Juice Coffee (usually 2 cups) Lunch I usually eat leftovers from dinner the night before, sushi, or sometimes I will go get Chick-fil-a (serious cut back lately). I usually have a small salad with lunch if possible. I don't usually drink soda at all, maybe once in a while. Hot tea is my main thing as well as water. Dinner Bigger salad with a full dinner of meat, fresh vegetables (steamed or raw), and some form of whole grain bread. It gets a little old sometimes so I go get Thai food or Mexican depending on my mood usually 2-3 times a month. As far as kolaches go, my family is Czech and German so we eat the real thing, usually poppyseed, cream cheese or sauerkraut and sausage (real sausage, which makes them klobasnek). My mom makes them occasionally (they take around 10 hours) and we eat them up within a week. I need to edit that Wikipedia entry and add Hruska's on Highway 71 in Ellinger to the list of amazing kolache stops in Texas. The Czech Stop is good but I've had bad batches from there before. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

Breakfast: Bowl of cereal (Marshmallow Mateys, Cinnamon Toasters, Cocoa Dino Bites, Honey Bunches of Oats is good) , maybe some juice or applesauce, or a GoTart if I'm out of time
Lunch: Either a sandwich on whole wheat with light mayo, Sarah Lee turkey and munster cheese or a bagel (plain or cinnamon raisin) with whipped cream cheese and chips (Gardettos or nacho cheese Doritos) Dinner: When we're really lazy, either a sandwich or a Hot Pocket/Lean Cuisine. Otherwise, something with ground beef, chicken breast, steak (used in fajitas) or pork chops with an appropriate side dish ranging from pasta to a salad to mac n cheese to mashed potatoes to corn to baked beans. After dinner: I've been bad about this lately, but another bowl of Marshmallow Mateys, a Weight Watchers dessert (the chocolate chip cookie one is the best) or other assorted sweet (like if I happen to have made Rice Krispie Treats) To drink: Because I'm cheap, at work I drink water if I don't bring something from home. Lately I've been drinking flavored carbonated water, and I love it! It's the bubbly that I need without being the calories and sugar I don't need. At home, anything from V8 Splash to water to cranberry or apple or orange juice. I wish I ate half as healthy as some of you guys. The thing is, I have been an extremely picky eater my whole life. Part of it stems from my parents being too lenient when it came to making me finish all my food. Whatever the reason, it's not something that's gonna change with just a reintroduction. I don't do spicy, and even things like bell peppers are too hot for my tastes. It's why I eat so much of the same things over and over. I really don't think some people understand how much I hate being picky, and how if I had my way I wouldn't be. I was once called "ignorant" because I tried asparagus again and still didn't like it. Go fig. Hrm, we might be able to help with that. Some foods taste much better when prepared a certain way. For instance, I like fresh spinach, but steamed or creamed spinach makes me gag. Are there any foods that you'd like to eat more or like better? I or others on here might be able to make suggestions on various recipes or methods of preparation for you to try. Oh and... are you calling bell peppers hot as an exaggeration? I ask because bell peppers contain no capsaicin, thus zero heat... KC, I redefine the word picky... I feel you on everything you said. I cant eat like everyone else on here. I get sick to my stomach when I try new things.
Things I wont touch: meat (except for turkey bacon, coconut shrimp, and chick fil a chicken nuggets) anything mixed together like salad or spaghetti with sauce. I mean NOTHING mixed together if its remotely spicey, I wont eat it. period. Pepper is spicey. tomato products are spicey, etc. I understand what she says about bell peppers If its creamy, not for me... no sauces or dressings rubbery food grosses me out too |

Actually, I have been to a food therapist a couple times and several nutritionists. All of them tell me the same thing: part of it is my sense of smell (I smell things different than everyone else) and part is psychological. Problem is, I have been like this since I was a baby. My mom would try force feeding me and wouldnt work. She wouldnt let me leave the table until I ate my food and drank my milk. I would sit there until 9 and 10 at night until she would start threatening to take things away... never worked. Im stubborn as shit. I have NEVER EVER met anyone that is nearly as picky as me...although I did see an episode of Dr. Phil where this girl ate almost exactly like me and apparently its some type of eating disorder.... who knows

cupcake... you're gonna be one of those grizzled old bastards who hates and is suspicious of everything.. huh? hahaha I'm afraid I already am one. I'm buttermilk. the ironic part is I am as initiated as anyone when it comes to cuisine outside of the norm. I was eating sushi and drinking plum saki as a teenager in okinawa. whoopdeefuck. (I only use sushi because it's a big trend that wasn't in 92 when I was in oki...I still eat it usually a couple times a month). just because something is cultured doesn't mean it is refined. buttermilk is cultured but that does not constitute it a fine beverage. I like what I like. just because something is novel, ecclectic, or foreign doesn't mean it's great. and simply because you have exposure to something doesn't require one to adopt it as an integral part of their lives. try everything, decide for yourself what you are. never let a scene or style define who you are. that said, my new goal is to stay away from processed and boxed foods. |

jessica...you are my food doppleganger... Yeah, same for me. I'll eat just about anything. I don't think I've seen jessica eat anything but french fries, and when I offered her some of my Spanky's fries she wouldn't take any of the fries that had touched my hamburger... And I use the word Doppleganger all the time, I don't know why some people get it and others don't. I've been doing a pretty good job of not eating so much processed and boxed foods. When we go grocery shopping we start in the produce section and fill up as much of the basket as we can with fruits and vegetables. Then to the seafood area for some combination of shrimp, salmon, orange roughy, scallops, and tilapia. Next is my meat, steak, beef, ground turkey, chicken breasts, turkey bacon. Then the rest of the shopping consists of stuff like cheese, natty peanut butter, frozen fruit, eggs, etc. I'd say it's I eat a lot healthier than I did a year ago and better than the average american. Now I just have to give up caffeine and diet dr. pepper. -------------------- LANCE IS PRO-CENSORSHIP! HE IS CENSORING MY LOVE FOR THE LORD!

i fancy myself a pretty decent cook, anyone who has tried it and posts on here can vouch for me. but i mix and match, and try not to stick to a certain ethnic style of cooking. somethings are awesome when you experiment. take for instance my broiled pork ribs and zach's curry. that was a fucking awesome meal. -------------------- |

oh really? Anybody ever wonder why the biggest nutjobs are psychology majors? Erin (basschick) is a good example of this ... my alcoholic aunt with a nicotine patch addiction is another great example... and then there is Cathryn... the best example of them all with her once-a-week showers, her consistent mood swings, and her emotional baggage that she just will not let go of!

new avatar Ive gotten pretty good at hiding my food problem when I first meet someone... only place I cant eat at is a mexican food place. I dont like people to know my problem... heh yet I share it on an internet message board. I just tell the guy im a vegetarian and leave it at that. that way he doesnt take me to some wild game restaurant or something. I also am slowly starting to eat things that have been touched by other foods. I mean (BIG STEP COMING) today I went to mcdonalds and ordered hot cakes and again they gave me hotcakes with sausage. I took the sausage off and ate the hotcakes!!! i know that seems dumb, but man big step for me. Im also starting to try new foods... i recently tried some crazy rice, bell peppers, and grilled onions. It wasnt the best, but I ate it.

no... haha baby steps ok, lets say i make you dinner. and in this dinner, i make a fresh leaf salad, with romano lettuce, cherry tomatos, several leafy greens, red onion, cucumber, carrot and red cabbage. (your choice dressing) baked lemon pepper tilapia on a rice pilaf, with fresh steamed carrots and green beans. and a fruit salad with grapes, pinapple peaches apple etc. in peach juice for dessert. what would you eat out of all that? the most picky eating girl i've ever been with still ate everything i cooked for that meal. -------------------- |

Well, since I have been trying to eat new things I would say I would eat the salad but only if you took out the red onion and cherry tomatos... (never tried cabage so I have no idea what that tastes like), no dressing. Lemon pepper is kinda spicey. I would eat whatever the hell talapia is (im assuming some kind of fish) but Id eat it very slow and in my head I would be thinking DEAR GOD HELP ME the whole time. I like carrots and green beans.... I love fruit, but leave it out of the juice cuz that makes the fruit all gooey.

I'm just going by her e-self. well, erin was/is nuts. ever met a girl that swore up and down she knew what she wanted, but when given a choice in between that, and something totally different she would always pick the other thing? erin is a bit like that. and she doesn't take critizism well. she's still a great friend of mine, but she the typical psycho unbalanced psychology major. she finds you to be a genius if you agree with her, and a moron is you disagree. and given the choice inbetween a guy that will treat her wonderfully and a guy that looks cute in glasses, she'll always pick the guy in glasses. but bitch to everyone else that she wants a good guy that will treat her right heh. hot though. get rid of the baggage and i'd totally sexitize humpify and bang-ulate her -------------------- |

well, erin was/is nuts. I never understood why people thought she was so hot. I mean, she is ok...especially for a techsans girl. ever met a girl that swore up and down she knew what she wanted, but when given a choice in between that, and something totally different she would always pick the other thing? erin is a bit like that. and she doesn't take critizism well. she's still a great friend of mine, but she the typical psycho unbalanced psychology major. she finds you to be a genius if you agree with her, and a moron is you disagree. and given the choice inbetween a guy that will treat her wonderfully and a guy that looks cute in glasses, she'll always pick the guy in glasses. but bitch to everyone else that she wants a good guy that will treat her right heh. hot though. get rid of the baggage and i'd totally sexitize humpify and bang-ulate her And before Jenna jumps on me for being prideful of the way I look (which im not) it has nothing to do with that. Im just saying that Erin is ok looking I guess for a wanna-be punker or whatever she is/was.... haha thats what always made me laugh. She acted all hard-core, but damn that girl loved The Killers.... rightfully so, they are pretty good. Just not all hard-core or whatever. Thats not an insult...just something I found odd. |

I'm pretty hardcore and am a recovering punk, yet I still adore the smiths and other gayness. |

When I last saw her... little over a year ago... she was way bigger than that. kudos to her if she got her weight down. I never liked the crazy hair dye thing. I mean, black is cool. I did that for a while. I guess thats just my preference though

Swollen Taste Bud
information from the Atlanta Dental Group PC A swollen taste bud can be caused by a number of things. Very hot food that burns and irritates a taste bud can cause swelling. Allergies to specific foods can also cause it. Taste buds that taste sweets are located on the tip of the tongue and salt taste buds are in the two side areas of the tongue tip. Sour taste buds are situated on the lateral sides of the tongue and bitter taste buds on the back. The area of the tongue where the swollen taste bud is located can be a sign of which taste is involved. A swollen taste bud can occur from continually eating spicy foods which constantly overstimulate these sense organs. Trauma from biting the tongue can result in taste bud swelling. -------------------- |

Big Red lol. I had my nephew lick the wrapper and put it on his forehead When I was 16, I told some friend of mine to do that. He had a disorder where he couldnt grow hair. We were licking the wrappers and putting them all over his scalp. We left them there for like 10 minutes. When we took them off of him, it started burning so bad he cried. I felt bad, but damn it was funny

![]() ![]() pulled those off her blog, hope they will hot-link regardless if this is old, I would have had my way with that and knocked that silly emo pout look right off her block... hot topic punk, 'true' punk, whatever...95% of 'punk' chicks are posers. they still have a female mindset, concerned with what others think and not about to tell society to eat a dick. punk is a mindset not a fashion statement. I know cowboys who are much more punkrock than guys with mohawks. |

if it looks cute on you, wear it, i think. i don't like how people insist that they are part of some super selective club that no one else can be part of. listen to what you like, wear what you want, be your own damn person, and if you have to fit a label to who you are then being a punk/cowboy/metalhead is the very LEAST of your problems. this world is filled with two different types of people, sheep and shepards and those people who insist that they represent the epitome of what a genre stands for are the biggest of sheep

in my mind it is a culture. if i wore a dasheke (sp) and started spouting off about the motherland without knowing anything about it people would be offended. its much less of a culture now (in the mainstream) because of silly things like fashion statements and the i want to be alternative to get cute boys mentality -------------------- Little monkeys making money

I'll say this on the trend of alterna emopunk as a mainstream scene...
I like it an azzton better than the bowhead, bangs, wild print, paula abdul pop, flourescence of the late 80s. I do not, however, like trendy girls (or guys for that matter) that glom on and act like they invented the wheel. dress cute, go to your show, but don't tell me how it "is". |

( no matter what you call yourself, cowboy, punk, goth, etc) -------------------- |

i never claimed to want anyone to understand me brandon. im perfectly hunky dory. im talking about the bigger picture
i myself am something more than a person who has lived/believes in a alternative punk style/lifestyle/philosophy. people can get the idea of the whole me without understanding what i think Punk is. what i am saying though is dont make the most recongizable/vocal attribrute to your body or mind something you dont even relate to. i mean come on she had some shitty ass taste in music! if you think of yourself as someone who respects the rights of others dont then spout off about Big Brother and personal barcodes imprinted on babies heads as a great idea. loose example -------------------- Little monkeys making money
