So last year when i was in the hot tub, my room mate slapped me iin the ear and apparently it ruptured my ear drum... but before i knew that, i got some water stuck in my ear on the same day, so i used some swim ear shit that is supposed to cleanse the water out of your ear, and clear shit up....anyways, since my ear was ruptured, it burned like a mother fucker when i put the swim ear in, and just, and i never felt that much pain due to alcohol going in my ear, but i went to a doctor and he said just dont go under water with your ears for a couple of months or so...anyways this year comes around....and i still cant get my head under water because my ears still bother me and fill up with water every time i go under...which never bothered me before the whole incident last year....so anyways, i went under water today, and it filled up and was bothering me, so i figured hey, i might as well use the swim ear shit since i still have it to clear my ear up since the only reason it hurt was due to the ruptured ear drum last time...anyways i put the shit in, and it gave me some intense pain in my ear (opposite ear as the ruptured one last year) and gave me just as bad of a pain in my ear as when it was ruptured and did not clear up shit....

anyways, just curious if anyone has had problems with this swim ear stuff and if it is normal to feel this intense pain when using it, and any recomendations on other shit to get water out of your ears since obviously this shit is not working

Did you go back to the doctor after the initial visit? It's kind of hypocritical for me to say this since I never do the follow-up, but when it's something internal, it's probably not a bad idea to follow-up and see if something is wrong.

....dammit Brandon...

Anyways, I used to have a similar issue. I was born with a predisposition for ear-infections, and used to have the same thing happen to me anytime I went under water. It went away with time away from the pool...like several years. But since yours is an injury issue, DEFINITELY head back to the MD for another checkup.

Dude...stop using the swim ear shit! Your ears will naturally dry and any water that doesn't dry will more than likely run out when you go to bed. Its annoying more than anything. Trust me. I was a competitive swimmer for over 10 years and never used it nor did any of my fellow team mates. Our coach always told us not to.

damn brandon, you should at least make it related to the issue a bit. Like a cat humping an ear or saying that after Schwab went black, he had ear problems.

i had a friend who had a hole in her eardrum, she would have the same problems with getting water in her ear. she simply used an ear plug (designed to keep water out, obviously)

get a pipet or put some rubbing alcohol in it, helps it dry

i was a competitive swimmer as well but wouldnt recomend letting water stay in your ear for too long. if it doesnt seem to be coming out and often times it appears so you can get a wicked infection no matter if it was pool water or a lake.
the swim ear stuff was used and opened a year ago? that could be the problem. medications typically arent recomended to store for a few months much less a year.
if you had your ear drum ruptured expect future things like this to happen. you are going to have ear pains even in your other ear. its all connected and goes to the same place in your brain.
someone mentioned earplugs. id think thatd be a safe bet for the future

if you have that much trouble with water in your ear then maybe it's a good idea to invest in some ear plugs (made for swimming)....

are you usually bothered when you shower or just dunking your head under?

like cathryn mentioned...it's usually better to let your ears air dry or get excess water out with a q tip. crap like swim ear and other chemicals are pretty abrasive
