I would like to add that if there isn't a rule restricting signature images, no matter how annoying they might be, then it really isn't proper to either ban the person or remove their signature. Obviously, this is Lance's world and he has the freedom to do as he will, but if he takes too much liberty with that freedom, he's gonna find himself as the only citizen of his world.

Everybody can argue technicalities all they want, but the truth of the matter is that greg intended for his sig to be annoying. Just like he intended for his flash avatars to be annoying. This isn't the first time he's tried to be intentionally annoying. There's no arguing about that. I don't think removing something that was meant solely to bug people is that big of a deal in the first place. It's lance's forum, let him do what he wants. It's not exactly like greg has been a regular or even coherant contributor since Techsans v2.0 started, he's spent most of his time just trolling and/or spamming.

While there aren't any written rules about signatures, per se, it should be understood that images that are excessively large (either in pixel size or file size) are unacceptable. That having been said, regardless of Greg's past behavior, the proper course of action should have been to first ask him to change the signature and, if he refused or ignored the request, then remove/change it.

Greg and Alex routinely have mega-sized sigs in their profile just to be annoying. I think pretty much everyone on here realizes their goal is to be annoying as possible.
So all in all, an annoying sig got changed to a less annoying one, boo hoo hoo, cry me a river. Most of the mods agreed with it and thought it'd be funny. Everyone get their panties out of a wad. |

Ok. Then if we're going to ban the use of large images in your signatures we should ban the use of large images in posts. I find that extremely annoying having to scroll around them. In fact....why not ban signatures all together. That would prevent the use of images and also remove any questionable content that some people put there.
It just really fucking blows me away that an internet message board with 15 posters could be so fucking serious about something like signature rules. Does it bother you that much? Is your computer that shitty that it can't load a fucking image? If you're going to get upset over annoyances, then you should ban or edit all of zetec's posts. Then you should ban or edit Brandon's posts. Then maybe you should ban or edit Lance's ridiculous conspiracy posts. Those are really annoying. Then we should make a rule about reposting material that's already been posted because that can be really annoying. I think the problem is that the moderators think they actually have a responsibility here. Like they're doing a public service of some kind. as for this so-called "drama," it is really just an intentional (and often humorless) factionalizing of the boards that facilitates a faux-debate which provides a level of antiquated entertainment comparable to Hunt the Wumpus. can we AT LEAST argue about something quasi-serious, instead of the "johnny's on my side of the seat" bullshit? i mean, if we are going to argue and pretend to be angry with each other for no worthy reason, the least we can do is agree to argue something that will benefit the group as a whole, even if we are only benefited by having a better knowledge of each other's opinions. or whatever . . . democracy rules. |
