The story says that any sexual predator who is convicted two times of raping a child under the age of 14 could be put to death. Im paraphrasing big time, but thats the jist of it Im not the biggest advocate of the death penalty, but for some reason I agree with this 100% |

I'm pro-death penalty for murder, but am conflicted on this particular issue.
what if an 18yr old guy fucked some overdeveloped 13yr old (you've all seen them) who was at a party and then she felt guilty and told her parents he raped her (like happens...) man that would suck... |

I am generally opposed to the death penalty. But, they should defiantly lock these fuckers up for a long time.

Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

The problem is courts decide that even if it was consensual it was rape for certain ages.....which sort of screws the whole thing up

Any asshole who tries to have sex with a 12 year old, consensual or not, deserves what he gets. Plus, I THINK it mentions in the article VIOLENT rapes which would mean nonconsensual sex (assuming that anyone that young wouldnt be masochistic enough to like super rough sex)

Someone who is 12 doesn't fully understand the consequences of their action. Sure, they may know what's happening, but they don't fully get it. So, in a sense, I agree with it.
Then again, it is harsh. Then again, it can impact a person their entire life. -------------------- ![]() |

For forcible rape with DNA evidence to support it, maybe. Definitely not for regular statutory rape. Obviously cases with little kids would be determined by judge/jury to be forcible no matter what. But hell, there are 11-year-olds that slut it up nowadays.

1) that woman that was "raped" was of age which makes your comparison completely irrelevant.
2) we do have DNA testing now and if a minor is raped and there is DNA evidence then it is almost 100% certainty that he is guilty. |

We are talking about CHILDEN (male and female) that are little (I dont think it should be 14 and under. I think it should be 12). How do you falsely accuse someone of rape when you are that young if there is DNA evidence. ITS RAPE BECAUSE THEY ARE A MINOR...CONSENSUAL OR NOT. The Lacrosse woman argued that it wasnt consensual. Maybe you should learn how to make a proper analogy.

do you know how OFTEN KIDS LIE? ALL THE TIME!!
they'll tell a lie that some dude raped them just so they can get out of trouble for something else there was a story on the news yesterday about two pre-teen girls who claimed a guy raped them when really they broke into his shed to steal his marijuana and didn't want their parents knowing they smoked marijuana!! |

did you miss the part where I talked about DNA evidence... that doesnt lie. Unless you are saying the kid is smart enough to find some dudes cum dump rag and wipe it all over himself. Its a lot more clear cut in child rape cases than it is in adult cases. Psychologists can delve into children a lot easier so even if there isnt DNA evidence...its still easier.
And that story you are talking about... the girls were 17. It was two girls that some guy took down to his underground cave thing. The guy had been CONVICTED of raping a 12 year old before that. I think the girls were raped. The girls had bruises and marks all over them. You telling me that they wanted pot soooo badly that they let some guy sex beat the shit out of them? I think the guy was acquitted because the girls had lied about smoking weed. They probably went down there cuz the sick fuck said he had weed for them and then he raped them. |

Trial scheduled for next week, despite Lance giving a full confession. Prosecuters hope to prove the existence of aliens while defense attorneys claim Lance is clinically insane. |

Lance, just an FYI, but they don't give the death penalty until the person has been convicted. How many of those rape cases that are being overturned were convictions pre-DNA testing vs post-DNA testing?
Anyway, execution is too good for these guys. Toss their ass in general population for life and let it be known why they're in prison. It's too expensive to give out the death penalty. -------------------- Spam? Isn't that something poor people eat?

Can't really read through all this as I am at work, but I will toss in my 2 cents:
I don't agree with the death penalty in the first place. I personally believe locking a person up in a 6x8 cell for the rest of their life in solitary confinement, etc., is a worse penalty. After 20 years of that, I'd be praying for a "release"...i.e.-death. To prescribe the death penalty for anything less than murder is a very slippery slope. It also eliminates any moral/biblical type reasonings for the punishment, i.e., "an eye for an eye." This post has been edited by Psykopath: Apr 25 2007, 03:39 PM -------------------- |

Well rape of a an ADULT WOMAN has been ruled unconsitutional for disproportionality of the punishment to the crime. (coker case) The question does still remain on whether children (or men heh) that are raped makes the death penalty open.
Honestly i just think that we need better sentencing than what we do now. In the marijuana dungeon case the guy had already raped a 12 yr old? Why was he even out? Then you have the case of the georgia kid who is doing mandatory like 20 yrs b/c at 18 he got a blow job from a 14-15 yr old (where if he would have actually had sex with her he wouldn't have been charged). The kid was an A student and had scholarships too. I don't think we need or should allow the death penalty in cases like this, we just need better legislation and sentencing that allows the scum to be locked up, away from the kids. -------------------- |

The irony of the justice system is that a 13 year old killing a person can get convicted as an adult, but a 13 year old can't be judged capable of giving consent to fuck around.

I read somewhere that its more expensive to go through with the death penalty than it is to leave someone in jail for the rest of their life. Yep, 'tis true most of the time by far, due to all of the mandatory appeal costs and the actual price of the execution itself. That part answers Brandon's reply as well. QUOTE You made me giggle.
