You have to look to the future. I guess the point is that the technology could eventually be used on humans....

well, it is optional now. Again the fear (unfounded or not) is that the government will become fascist and put all kinds of tracking and ID devices on people.

no not credible, but:
my friend has a cousin in the special forces, about a year ago him and my friend had a conversation about chips... the special forces guy trumped them up like they were greatest thing since sliced bread and will greatly help improve the efficiency over using dogtags etc. and that soon they would be required to get them, then 6 months later my friend asked him about the chips and if he ever got one and he said he couldn't talk about it |

I just talked to a friend in the Army and he said that this is going to slowly be phased in to help with casualty handling in the battlefield. The Army is going to be implanting chips with medical information only and medics will carry special hand held PCs to read the data. He went on to tell me that this is under testing right now and that he didn't know of any soldier who had the procedure already, but he said it's possible.
