I hope he takes it. Leach is a shitty coach. I might actually start cheering for Tech if he leaves

damn, Leach is awesome, guess thats why he wouldn't stay in lubbock... Hell if i were him i'd take my kick ass system to a grade A school.
Sucks, hopefully Tech would pick up a coach that would keep us competitive. (If it happens of course) |

Losing Leach would be horrible. His offense and his style is what attracts the recruits he gets, and if he leaves everything drops. They wouldn't be the same team, who is going to come play for some rebuilding team ? Especially with UT and OU always dominating that aspect, and A&M taking the rest.
I like Leach and his style, so IF he did go to UM, then I'd be interested in becoming a Miami fan. Call it what you will, but its that style and approach that I like, I'd prefer he stay and do his thing at TTU though. -------------------- QUOTE (Lance) now we have some dude from argentina wondering how to fuck dogmeat |

i really like Leach I hope he stays, but like others have said it'd turn my opinion around of miami, i'd root for em
if he did leave it'd totally break down tech and we'd be lucky to go .500 the next couple years. |

I am having a hard time forming an opinion on this one. If Mike Leach is offered the job, he'd be dumb not to take it.
I can't decide whether I want him to get offered or not. On one hand, it's hard to argue with what he's done in his seven seasons at Texas Tech. Then again, the Red Raiders' win-loss record during his tenure is not much better than it was in the five years prior to his hiring. He hasn't really come close to winning a division title and it's hard to argue with the mediocre results over the past season and a half. I guess the biggest question is whether or not Tech can do better. If Mack Brown -- and, now, Mike Gundy -- has tought us anything is that talent will eventually generate wins almost by default. There is no doubt in my mind that Leach is miles ahead of both of those guys when it comes to X's and O's but that's only part of being a head coach. I think Leach's oblivious -- this word is no exaggeration -- attitude towards the defensive side of the ball has hurt Tech quite a bit and cost the team a few wins. He isn't a great recruiter and this weakness will be magnified even more now that co-offensive coordinator Sonny Dykes is apparently going to become the next offensive coordinator at Arizona. Dykes is the best recruiter on the staff and one of the best in the Big 12. I enjoy watching his offense, I think he's a very interesting guy and I liked the hell out of covering him but I'm not sure I would be completely heartbroken to see him go. My two dream candidates would be Art Briles and Rick Neuheisel. |

Yea, if leach leaves our team's going to shit. Our defense did a lot better this year than it did last year. I dunno what happened to this season, we should have won a lot more games than we did; that loss to CU, OU, and UT sucked ass.

If Leach leaves, give Tech one or two seasons and then they will start making it happen. I say they will be better off without him. They need a coach that will bring in some new strategy and will try to run the ball a bit more.

Because the uniforms look better in a run-oriented offense? no. their asses look better either that or you cant throw the whole team on the QB's back because what if he gets injured? You think the backup QB will be able to waltz right in and pickup where the other one left off? Not likely.... Case and point McCoy and Sneed. |

You have to gamble on the QB situation to an extent.
Did anybody watch that bumbling fuck last year backup Vince Young ? The Tech running game is already making some movement. They are lining up in different formations, and they are in fact running at times that people don't expect it. Keep in mind how many yards / carry Shannon Woods has. Hint, its over 6 It just needs a little more evolving, but that is already happening. Niggas need to step back and let next year unfold - we all knew that this year would be flakey from the get go with Harrell being new to starting, but then we got cocky, and now we are realizing what we knew at the beginning of the year. Next year is when we can honestly hope/expect an 8+ win season in the regular season then maybe a bowl win, and then Harrell's senior year, a 10 win season etc. Progression of the QB is going to be huge in a system like this, plus the new receivers next year will still take a bit of adjusting. Woods will be a monster, fear not. Lets just hope that Tech will eventually be putting up Hawai'i offense numbers, but against the better teams that they play. -------------------- QUOTE (Lance) now we have some dude from argentina wondering how to fuck dogmeat |

Not likely.... Case and point McCoy and Sneed. Your example is flawed as Jevan Snead lead Texas on five scoring drives against Kansas State. It was the Longhorn defense that cost them the victory, not the play of their back-up quarterback. Secondly, if you're going to scheme offensively around the possibility that one of your players is going to get injured then you have no reason being a coach. |

Texas scored 2 points above their year long average of Offensive output in Manhattan
I'm gonna go with, their Offense was just fine (even with the INT and fumbles) Letting Freeman run over them, that's the obvious failure. -------------------- QUOTE (Lance) now we have some dude from argentina wondering how to fuck dogmeat |

Basically, Mike Leach has been in New York to attend a College Hall of Fame ceremony. He goes every year at this time, so this doesn't come as a surprise.
As Greg Schiano told Miami to go fuck themselves, the 'Cane President and Athletic Director reportedly met "informally" with Leach today at some point. It has also been reported that Randy Shannon, the current defensive coordinator at The U, was in attendance as well. According to several people who would know, it sounds as if Miami is basically pitching that the two of them team up. Leach would be head coach and fully control the offense while Shannon would have complete control over the defense. This shouldn't be an issue for Leach because he has always been oblivious to what happens on defense anyways. Leach's agent has been summoned to New York from his Minnesota home. I doubt that he was done so to have tea and cupcakes. Donecakes. |

why would espn report it? nothing is for sure and an "interest" doesnt mean shit to them
this is like the 2000 election. lets not get ahead of ourselves once Leach is offered something and he takes it or denies it, then we can celebrate or boo. i know this thread exists to inform us that something might go down in the future. but i dont think have anything but speculation and preditions Plus, it might be bad for Leach to do anything until after the bowl season. who knows -------------------- ![]() |

i dont know if they'd offer it to him. i mean most of the country thinks his offense is "gimmicky" (even though most people around tech think he's a genius).
he'd be dumb NOT to take it, but maybe he likes it here and it's a better place for his family...rather than Miami where half the team is in a gang and 2 players were shot and killed this season (2, right?) -------------------- ![]() |

his 7-5 seasons aren't going to fly at miami. too much pressure plus miami is a stepping stone job. larry coker was there 6 years and that's the longest a coach has been there in a while. besides, leach has a hard time controlling the discipline here, i can only imagine what would happen at miami. -------------------- Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.

So, for the sake of argument...let's say Leach IS overrated. You think that if he leaves, regardless of who the new coach is, somehow they will "make it happen" (which I assume is subjective term) with his magical "new strategy" that incorporates running the ball? How do you figure that, Lee Corso? My point is that Tech is capable of recruiting a good coach. I dont know who Lee Corso is so that went over my head. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay, it's time for jessica's no knowledge jibberish to start another why does leach suck series of arguments. yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. who are you again? exactly.
