I've pretty much decided that I want to work in Austin after I graduate this december. I know, I know, I posted a jobs thread a few months back, but this is a bit more specific. I'm trying to find places in Austin to apply as an entry-level mechanical engineer. Thus far I've applied to:
Accenture Dell L-3 Motion Computing Motorola National Instruments Samsung Signature Sciences, LLC Texas Instruments URS 6 of those I've applied for specific positions with, the other 4 just submitted my resume in general. Any other suggestions? I've looked up some of the other big companies, but not found any relevant jobs. I'm sure there are places I'm overlooking. -------------------- |

because when i interviewed with NI they were all fat slobs and complete assholes
and it seemed like they'd take advantage of you by working you like crazy |

I'm just really hoping the interview I did this morning and stuff that I did with Occidental Oil and Gas pays off, I was really pretty impressed with that company and think it'd be a great job for me they had available...

i don't think i saw 3m on your list, you should try them - if you gimmie a couple of days i can find the card for the m.e. alumni on the advisory council that works there. they have a really nice austin campus.

i can't speak for the huge companies, but i can say small is pretty nice. especially as a sw developer. if you can find a small, stable company, that's big time job security. and don't let "small" make you think opportunity is minimal, I don't have all that much room to move up per se, but i've gotten a shit ton of raises and my company takes very good care of me (went home for six weeks last year for back surgery and didn't miss a paycheck). small companies will tend to see your worth and make sure you get what you deserve.

Small companies are partially why I made this thread.
The big ones are obvious and easy to find, but those who have been in Austin more than I have might be aware of smaller companies that I would otherwise overlook.
