QUOTE
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Chevron and its partners have successfully extracted oil from a test well in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, an achievement that could be the biggest breakthrough in domestic oil supplies since the opening of the Alaskan pipeline.

The last quote of the article I find the most interesting.

QUOTE
"This is the silver lining of higher oil prices," he said. "If we didn't have higher oil prices, they wouldn't have dared to risk this much capital here."

You mean the rantings of idiot fucktard politicians like Al Gore and moron news reporters clamoring on about how CEO's of big oil companies are jacking up gas prices to line their own pockets are.....*GASP*......COMPLETE BULLSHIT?!?!?

It absolutley amazes me how fucking ignorant %90 of the population in this country is when it comes to the energy industry and how it actually works....The level of technology used in producing crude oil is on par if not greater than shit NASA is doing ...

I've said for years that a huge chunk of the profits major oil companies make is inherently re-invested into finding more oil, but this is the first time I have *EVER* read an article on a major news source that paid even a line of text to that notion ....

The only company I do not like is ExxonMobil and that's because they do not reinvest their profits into R&D like the other companies.

Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

ExxonMobil reinvests into the pockets of its owners... They don't even spend money on E&P (exploration and production). Hell, they backed out of the Sahkalin project and now only hold a small share.

I think it's hilarious. I wish oil was $500 a barrel.

Then people would actually have a real reason to bitch.

If you don't like how high gas prices are either:

a) Buy a 4-cylinder automobile
cool.gif Ride a bike
c) Shut the fuck up about it already

heh smile.gif
