What's the best teacher to take for CS 1411?

The only one of those 3 that I have had is Rushton (for Concepts of Programming Languages). I liked him a lot. However I've heard that his teaching style for 1411 is a lot different. I heard that he launches right into recursion in the first few days of class, making the class more difficult than it should be.

I had Rushton for concepts, never heard of the other two (must be new since I've graduated).
People either like Rushton or hate him for his stupid trivia shit and the way he gets off topic talking about meaningless shit. I liked Rushton though, I think he's a good teacher when he stays on topic. |

I went ahead and signed up for Berger. His class was the only one I could fit into my schedule.

I could never really decide what I wanted to do, so I decided to go with General Studies. Basically, instead of having a major, I have 3 minors. I decided to take minors in Sociology, Communication Studies, and Computer Science.

I have to disagree, fundamentals of C++ was the most un-useful class I took. 90% of CS majors already know how to code before ever stepping one foot in a class.
If you just want to learn a programming language then take MIS. If you actually want to learn true computer science and topics such as algorithmic complexity, artificial intelligence, how processors work (and you get to build one), networking, operating systems, database theory, etc. etc. then take CS. You must be a one of those bitter MIS majors who realized their degree is worthless once they graduated. |

I think what non-CS majors don't understand is they don't teach programming languages. They teach all kinds of concepts and stuff, but other than that first funds class they don't take you step by step through each language and show you how to use it. You're just supposed to pick it up on your own.
