It says that most of the weapons found were manufactured pre 1991, however he [Saddam] had an infrastructure in place that were sanctions to be lifted could and would have been producing chemical WMD's at a significant rate. -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

QUOTE Asked why the Bush administration, if it had known about the information since April or earlier, didn't advertise it, Hoekstra conjectured that the president has been forward-looking and concentrating on the development of a secure government in Iraq. riiiiiiiiigghhhht.... Sorry, but this just doesn't make any sense to me. The Bush admin has known about these weapons for three years now, and just now remembered to tell someone about it? I'm not buying it. I think it may be true, and may have been the Republican trump card for the reelection season.

I didn't believe the administrations' stretching/exaggerations made about Iraq's capabilities...
See: 'have "X number" (something like 500 liters or what have you) containers of Sarin nerve gas ready to be launched in missles at U.S. targets/interests within a 45 minute period' and other bullshit claims like the whole nuclear materials from Nigeria. -------------------- |

I agree it seems a little fishy... "oh by the way, we didn't tell you that we found WMDs, but that's because the info was CLASSIFIED".... but I'm not going to dismiss it out-of-hand as false or a conspiracy or what have you.

It looks like that WMD story was discredited a long time ago.
Only one lone senator (Rick Santorum) and right-wing political TV show pundit Sean Hannity are clinging to this story. http://www.newshounds.us/2006/06/22/sean_h...wmd_in_iraq.php You can watch a video of Jim Angle debunking the WMD story right on Fox news. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/06/22.html#a8810 |

nobody here reads the full articles. the point isn't that we found 15 year old chemical weapons, but this:
QUOTE The weapons are thought to be manufactured before 1991 so they would not be proof of an ongoing WMD program in the 1990s. But they do show that Saddam Hussein was lying when he said all weapons had been destroyed, and it shows that years of on-again, off-again weapons inspections did not uncover these munitions.
