So, my car cd player/stereo started having an issue about a week ago. No matter if I'm using the cd player or just the radio, a loud static/screeching sound comes through the speakers after I turn it on for more than 10 seconds or so.
Any thoughts on what this problem is? Any fixes? The damn thing never had a problem until this. -------------------- |

probably a loose wire in the back of the deck. You're gonna have to take the dash apart (or pop the deck out) to check. If its not that, then I would say speakers have wiring loose. Do you have automatic or normal locks and windows? If its normal locks, its a bitch to take the door panel off. You're gonna have to go to auto zone and buy a tool that pops the window crank off. Be careful when you do that though because the metal clip inside the crank can pop out and can get lost. If both of those fail, I would have to say the deck has problems. Doubtful that a speaker is blown because that sounds more like a buzzing and rattling than a static/screeching.

If it comes out of all the speakers it's more than likely a problem with the deck. Sounds like a bad ground wire or something. Take it to wherever you got it installed, or if you did it yourself then take that junt out and check you wiring. If all else fails go to Custom Sound Works and get you a new Pioneer deck. Dawg.

I have automatic locks/windows.
I'm going to try and take the deck out tomorrow to check the wires. Best Buy put the deck in a couple years ago. Blah. -------------------- |

Is it only when set to CD? Or radio? or what? Sounds like an antenna connection or maybe a ground loop.
I highly doubt the speakers wires are loose and wouldn't go tearin out panels tryin to find out (once you take em out, they never quite go back in as well. Especially if you hear static out of all the speakers. |
